  1. All lines have some "issues." One day there may be "The Perfect Fishing Line." So far the best "balance" of attractive attributes I have found is Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. The three features I like most are: 1. Manageability; in use the line has virtually no memory. 2. Strength 3. Abrasion resistance If you are considering a pure fluorocarbon, I suggest trying the orginal Hybrid. The refraction index of this line is not perfect, but it is almost translucent and MUCH easier to work with than fluoro. I fish #4 (8.5 lb test) in the gin clear water of the White River in north central Arkansas. I fish the green tint and cannot see the line in the water. That's good enough for me.

Columbine April 20, 1999. Probably NOT a coincidence.
  3. Ligtninrod, Great avatar! : I liked your picture better.
  4. Want to eliminate 90% of the criticism about tournament fishing? Instigate a system for certifing or qualifying bass caught and IMMEDIATELY released. Registering "length" only rather than weight might be a consideration and relatively simple: Standard yardstick, certified at the beggining of the event and a required HIGH quality photograph, dated, timed and witnessed.
  5. Seems like a couple of great suggestions at these pricng points.
  6. Never even a consideration, I don't fish tournaments...ever. Professional fishing is a job with VERY low AVERAGE compensation. There are only a handful of guys at the top that actually make money, the rest finance "The Dream."
  7. Wow! Congratulations, that's one heck of a fish.
  8. Welcome aboard! To ask The Bass Professor a question, simply send him a PM: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1165888992 Good luck!
  9. My son is 23 and graduating from college next month. I miss him so much. I have hardly hunted in five years...he was always my partner. Show this thread to your dad, I think he will understand. That's it, I can't type with tears in my eyes.
  10. The Corvalus is a good reel at its pricing point. I think you will like it just fine. It is a much better reel than an old, refurbished Abu Garcia that someone threw away because it wasn't worth fixing. I had a couple of those, too.
  11. Fishing the Tennessee River from the bank is pretty challenging. My only suggestion is live minnows under a float, but it's difficult to keep the bait alive. One thing is for sure, don't throw any lures you don't mind losing.
  12. Cool. That gets the year started off on a good note. Congrats!
  13. GYCB Fat Baby Craws might be the answer. I especially like them for jig trailers.

    Welcome aboard!
  15. Senko Fat Ika Shallow running crankbaits: Bomber Square A or Norman Fat Boy Spinnerbaits: White with silver willow blades; white & chartreuse with gold Colorado blades Original Floating Rapala Zara Puppy That's where I would suggest starting.
  16. I don't have any of their graphite rods, but I have the glass rod designed by Skeet Reese for heavy and deep diving lures: SR705R. This is Heavy Power/ Slow Action. The design, engineering, components and craftmanship is on par with G. Loomis. This rod is technique specific for me, but it is the PERFECT rod for those applications. I fish Lucky Craft Pointer 128, Spooks, DD22 and Mann's +15, +20 & +25 on the rod. This year I'm going to give it a go with big live baits fishing for stripers. I am very pleased with the rod.
  17. This is another of "my" colors, especially in mid-summer. Why? I haven't a clue.
  18. ***** That's suppose to represent five stars. I think that will make a GREAT set-up. Oh! I have a similar combination... : AC66MF/ Shimano Calais CL200ASV (although you might prefer the CL100A)
  19. #1 I think color is WAY overrated, but we all know that sometimes a specific color is killer. My favorite colors are "dark" and white. With soft plastics, dark colors are always in play. Yep, I have several that I fish, but I only "need" watermelon with black flakes. For hard baits, white, silver, white & silver or black. However, my favorite is green. BTW, I caught my PB on a bluegill pattern. Go figure.
  20. Nice brown fish! I usually fish below Pickwick Dam, but occasionally on the lake. Maybe we can get together some time.
