Favorite Topwater baits
Tiny Torpedos and the Zara Puppy (black & silver) are two lures I recommend to EVERYONE for numbers. If you are just starting or have never caught a bass on topwater, these two lures are as close as you can get to "guaranteed!" However, I don't fish them because I have never caught a big bass on either. Maybe I need to give them another try. 8-)

Well, it's better that she buys baits you can "borrow" than shoes you could never wear!

Deep Water Smallies
The traditional artificials work int deep water, too. Here are a few suggestions: grubs, Hula Grubs, 3 1/2" Gitzit and hair jigs.

Lucky craft?
I buy virtually all of my hard baits from BPS. If a lure is defective or breaks, I take them back for exchange. I have NEVER been denied.

Scott Rook laying the smack down with the RC1.5
Sometimes it makes you wonder, like topwater in the winter. Sure, it "might work", but maybe it's not a high percentage option. I fish the DD22 in the winter, well, year around for that matter.

Abu Garcia Revo?
No... Several members of the Posse have bought them, too. Both the Revo and the Steez are "The New Thing." We'll see what everyone has to say down the road. I hope these reels turn out to be just as fine tomorrow as they are today, and I suspect they will be. Congratulations guys!

what action and lenth should i buy for a openface
We have a section here called the "Flea Market." Check that section out over the next few weeks and you will probably be able to pick up a great rod at a good price.

spinnerbait rod?
Well, will see how others respond, but my take is that bass are (usually) so aggressive on a spinnerbait bite that they basically hook themselves. So, we don't need much sensitivity or quick response. I don't fish spinnerbaits often, but I don't recall missing any strike I was actually aware of getting. Maybe I'm missing the subtle touch, but I don't think so!
