  1. Length is probably the most important factor, then how the rod loads. Generally, a crankbait rod rated Medium Power/ Moderate Action will give you the greatest distance. Last would be line and for the most part that is a function of line diameter.
  2. Early I would start with a Cavitrno and/ or Megabass PopMax. Then, Senko and Fat Ika weightless, Kut-Tail shakey head. Rage Tail Cut-R T-rigged and Structure Bug jika rigged. Siebert Outdoors swim jig (bluegill)/ Rage Tail Shell Cracker (Hard Candy).
  3. CONGRATULATIONS!
  4. Siebert Outdoors Bluegill pattern/ Rage Tail Shell Cracker (hard candy). Let the bait settle to the bottom and then slow retrieve. The bait creates all of the action, you do nothing but reel.
  5. Welcome aboard! The majority of posts on this thread are about neighborhood ponds. Locally I fish Halle Park in Collierville; Grove and Nashoba in Germantown. My "home lake" is Pickwick.
  6. For me it's direct tie only.
  7. It is definitely NOT about color most of the time, but sometimes color can be critical and sometimes it can make good fishing better. I suggest changing colors and trying new lures when you are on a good bite. There is no way of really testing when the fish are shut down.
  8. GYCB Kut-Tail. I have heard this is THE most popular soft plastic in Japan. Other than worms, try the Rage Tail Craw and MegaStrike MegaTube Craw.

  10. Spinning tackle for lightly weighted and weightless soft plastics. Mine: St. Croix LES70M/ Stella 2500FB/ Tatsu #6 Baitcaster for treble hooks. Mine: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/perfecta-lte.html Baitcaster for single hooks. Mine: Okuma Helios Mini Guide System, HS-CM-701MH/ Helios Low Profile 7.3:1 baitcasting reel/ Tatsu #15 And maybe one more if you have something particular in mind. Mine: G. Loomis MBR842C/ Core 50Mg/ Tatsu #12

  18. St. Croix is a better value. I would specifically recommend the AVX68MXF. For line and to keep it simple: Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 for spinning tackle; #12 for baitcasting.
  19. Welcome aboard!
