  1. Well, I have written about the Grove in several threads. We have a lot of BassResource members that fish this little pond and just about everyone has caught a 5lb+ bass. The numbers aren't good, but the pond has produced double digits, the largest I know of was 11.98. I used to have a "pet" that some jerk took out two years ago. She weighed 10.4. We have a new pet that several of us have caught, 7.5lbs and she is still there. More generally the better fish are 4-6 lbs. If you want numbers, the crappie will be turning on in a few weeks and there is a good chance you can catch a limit of keepers plus another limit to release! #2 Nashoba Park was my first "secret pond". There used to be a ton of vegetation, but that was killed several years ago. Back in the day I caught a lot of monsters here and a few guys still catch them occasionally. However, for the past several years most of what I have caught is 3-5 lbs. Lures? Start with nothing more than Senkos and Fat Ika, then go from there. Back in the day:
  2. You can't win any money around here without throwing The Rig.
  3. Thanks! I need to pick up the Rootbeer.
  4. Don't buy 15 lures all at once. I guarantee you will be picking another up every now and then. Jerkbaits are what I like to collect and I have acquired quite a few over the years, but honestly, I only fish a couple. I might switch around what I carry, but I have never actually fished more than two or three different lures during an outing. For "catching" fish the Lucky Craft Pointer is all you need; the McStick is maybe second. As a collector I am more focused on the Megabass Ito Vision 110 and variations (FX).

  6. Well, I would not agree with you there. I have accumulated my collection over the past 19 years or so. During several of those years I have bought a couple of rigs and of course, sold or given some away. Coincidently I have 19 rods currently or on average, one acquisition per year. I have been given some gear, but if I decided to keep it, the new replaced the old. What I am suggesting is "buy as needed" and ONLY on sale or from guys on the Forum (Flea Market). Obviously some of our members can afford this year's state of the art and be first on the block, but for most waiting on a deal is probably a better strategy. And just one more thought, I would prefer one GREAT rig verses 6 that are "just fine". I guess that's why it has taken me so long to build my fleet.
  7. I rig them with the rage Tail Structure Bug and try to slow roll the presentation o9ccasionally ticking the bottom. Another technique which I learned fishing with Big O was removing the skirt on the Rage Blade and using a Cut-R as the trailer, tail up.

  9. Another suggestion for 2016: Fish your new stuff when you are on a good bite. There is no way to judge a lure when the fish aren't biting! This applies to colors also.
  10. Glenn has done a great job filming videos for BassResource.com, but this might be his very best!
  11. I would recommend a spinning rod & reel, Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 or Seaguar InvixX #8, GYCB Fat Ika & Senko, Rage Tail Cut-R, & Structure Bug, Sierbrt Outdoors Cosmic Spinnerbait (white), Z-Man Pro Series Chatterbait or Siebert Fogy. For hard baits a Norman Fat Boy (Redear), Zara Puppy, Pop-R and MegaStrike Cavitron buzzbait,
  12. Well, you should reach a compromise and get both!
  13. Don't be in a hurry adding more gear until you really know what else you "need". These are examples of a few that come to mind: Dedicated A Rig, jerkbait rod and if you fish a lot of deep-diving crankbaits, that's another. BTW, "rod" is the preferred term for "pole".
  14. You might want to consider Yo-Zuri Hybrid which is a bonded, not coated. nylon/ fluorocarbon blend. I use both #4 (8.5 lb breaking strength) and #6 (11.9). Both sizes are very manageable on spinning tackle, but I strongly recommend treating the line with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. Purple Smoke blends especially well with stained water; green is virtually invisible in clear water. If you are set on fluorocarbon, Tatsu #8 is perfect!
  15. Don't be in a hurry. Over time you will find a niche here and there. DVT's suggestion is a very specific example. Another "technique specific" rod is for the A Rig. You will find that if you start deep cranking a lot, that requires a dedicated rig, too.
  16. Beautiful!
  17. I am REALLY excited about you new jigs. They are even more impressive in hand!
  18. I enjoyed that...I have never fished a Senko Wacky Rigged.
