Jig Colors Why Do We Limit Ourselves?
Well, I used to think color was way overrated, but consider this from a onversation with Big O: When the fishing is good with just about any color, it might be BETTER with the right color! If you are just fishing for fun and the bite is on, that's a great time to try different colors and/ or baits and lures.

A Sport Or Not?
Sometimes... For the guys I usally fish with fishing is strictly recreational which I would not classify as a "sport". For guys on tour, fishing everywhere under almost any conditions is a whole different story. How 'bout 5' waves on Lake Erie? On several of the BassResource.com Roadtrips the main lake on both Kentucky Lake and Guntersville were unfishable for "recreational fishermen".

The Road To The Super Bowl
Are you ready to rumble? The match-up and the biggest game so far this season. Is it Sunday Night Football or another Thrilla in Manilia? Kansas City at Denver! They say Manning is "questionable", but I know he wants this game and he will play.

Jig Colors Why Do We Limit Ourselves?
I carry a wide range of colors and combinations. All of them work some of the time, but black & blue works all the time. I prefer PBJ and Falcon Lake, but that's not always the best choice.

Jig Color Help
I would add a Falcon Lake Craw and match it with the Rage Tail Craw or Lobster. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procambarus_clarkii

What A Drag.......
This is fun, just give it a try and see what "3 lbs" really means: If you have free weights, put 3 lbs in a plastic grocery bag, then attach the bag to your line. GENTLY lift the bag and adjust your drag until it just begins to give. I think you will see that 3 lbs is huge!

Rod Or Reel
Better reels make the "fishing" more fun. I would get a great reel in your price range and match it up with a new rod later.

Cabelas Guidewear On Sale 50% Off
The Guidewear has several options to choose from. Mine is uninsulated which gives me a range of 20 degrees to 65 or so with appropriate layering. The best compliment for winter fishing is Under Armour.

Measuring Line Question
00 Mod has posted a practical solution: Attach a 1/2 oz weight to the cheap line you are using for backing. Cast out as far as you can on grass. Put your rod down and walk off the line all the way to the weight. That's two casting distances. Cut the line and attach the braid, then fill your spool.

G Loomis Rod Users
The IMX series is where G.Loomis distinguishs itself. These rods are crisp, light, well built and balanced. The pricing point is targeted by nearly every other company. As a result, there are many brands to choose from that are excellent alternatives. I fish mostly G. Loomis, but I also fish St. Croix and Pinnacle. The new Tournament Series Pinnacle are certainly rods you should consider.
