  1. Never heard of this being an issue. I use light wire Gamakatsu #4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks.
  2. Sure... My buddy is running the trolling motor up font. He casts forward with weight. A bit later I cast over with no weight. No harm, no foul.
  3. I have a similar problemi, my fish seem to be stunted at 6 lbs or so. The ponds produces few 10+, but most of the bigger fish are 6-8 lbs. Yesterday and today we did a little better.
  4. Give Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 a try. The breaking strength is 11.9 lbs.
  5. For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques
  6. Not so fast, there maybe a better alternative. My daughter has just completed her Master's program at the University of Memphis. Classes can be be arranged at night and/or weekends in any major town, especially if you enroll in a thesis program. Look into this a little harder, you don't need to quit your job to get the degree.
  7. Update for last night?
  8. Great trip, nice pic!
  9. I like to fish several ponds around here.
  10. I have caught two in 14 years on the Tennessee River. Neither of them were exceptional.
  11. Caught a 9 and two 5+ this morning on 5" Senkos.
  12. Every thing that I might use in Plano plastic boxes. The "reserve" in my Man Cave on a post board.
  13. Verticale hook, just like the Rage Rig.
  14. Buy retail, from our sponsors direct or on the Flea Market
  15. The Performa XT got a great review on BR from J Francho:
  16. This is red hot for me right now: NorthStar Original Swim Jig (bluegill)/ Rage Tail Shellcracker (green pumpkin sapphire)
  17. I gave Mr. Swabby a spool of Tatsu #15 and a couple of THOUSAND yards of Yo-Zuri Hybrid away last May. I'm fishing Tatsu, Tuf-Line and Kanzen for the rest of this year. So far, so good. Next RoadTrip I hope we can give everyone a few spools of Tatsu.
  18. Well, that's probaby enough. Good night Irene.... -Kent a.k.a.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  19. Funny you bring this up. Mike did some upgrades for me which I had to downgrade! I didn't like the noise from dry ceramic bearing so I added a drop of oil, The performance may not be 100% of potential, but it's WAY BETTER than just "good enough".
  20. Try Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4, .009 diameter, 8.5 lb breaking strength. I brlieve the line is MUCH stronger. The fish in my avatar were caught on #4 Hybrid as well as this fish on the RoadTrip last year: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/lake-guntersville-2012.html
  21. If you are fishing a standard baitcaster, not designed for light presentations, stick with a 3/8 oz jig and trailer. The trailer will dictate the rate of fall. The Rage Tail raw is slow, the Lobster is MUCH slower.
  22. Probably just the time of year. You have caught them shallow, but higher temperatures may have pushed them deep.
