TN smallmouth are generally larger and occasionally MUCH larger. A few years ago my guide, Tim "hotdawg" Curtis, and his friend came over to Pickwick for two days. I put them both on Personal Bests, 7.4 lbs and 6.75 lbs. For numbers you don't need to travel. However, your chances for a 6+ are much greater on the Tennessee River. I recommend November when the weather is more consistent and the big girls have the feed bag on! November is still autumn in the Mid South.
