Why does heavy rain so drastically affect fishing
Heavy rains can lower the level of dissolved oxygen in any body of water, but it is particularly pronounced in smaller bodies, i.e., ponds. In extreme cases, it will kill the fish: http://www.palmbayflorida.org/publicworks/stormwater/documents/fish_kill.pdf

Just got a note from Big O. For those of you that met with him last year, I know his insight was inspiring. I'm glad we will all have the same opportunity to talk with Steve again this year. Hope to see ya there! -Kent

Mike and I will be there. If you and your dad decide to cancel, please let us know. You still have half the cabin reserved! Don't take that the wrong way, we are not holding your feet to the fire, but I would like to open it back up if you are not coming. Otherwise, I'm still jazzed!

Pickwick Smallies?
I think we generally catch bigger fish below Pickwick Dam, but much better numbers below Wilson. For green fish there is no comparison, the river below Pickwick sucks. Water levels are too volatile and there isn't much cover. 8-)

cold water fishing with jigs
Most guys want a small, compact presentation. That means 1/4 -3/8 oz, skirt trimmed neatly to the hook and a small, subtle trailer (GYCB Baby Craw). However, I like BIG! 3/4 oz GMAN Mop jig, untrimmed and wild. Rage Tail Lobster, full size Paca Craw, Flappin' Hog or Double Wide Beaver for the trailer. ;D ;D ;D

Rage Eeliminator " ? "
Sorry...I did not mean to insult you, but part of the Rage Tail "magic" is in the rigging. I'm sure Big O will see this later and respond. p.s. I have only tested the Eeliminator in my pool to check the rigging and it was fine. So, I don't know. :-/

Rage Eeliminator " ? "
Check you rigging:http://www.fishpickwick.com/ I think the best method might be C-rigged, but you still have to have the Eeliminator hooked up perfectly or it will not run right. p.s. Get the Smokin' Rooster, too! 8-)

Get a guide instead: http://www.fishpickwick.com/ I have one of Roger's associates (Gary) Monday. The cost is $300 and we will give the guide a $50 tip. That's $175 each, all in. The guide pays for gas, does all the work and puts you on fish... Capice?

Smallmouth in warmer water?
50 is still cold water! The White River in north central Arkansas is a constant 53 degrees year around below Bull Shoals Dam. This is a trout river, but we occasionally catch little smallmouth. The water is simply too cold for successful recruitment and growth. 8-)

A Change to Big Bait Tactics???
This is the major hurdle the OP faces: 6) Do I have the time necessary to make this work? I work mon-fri as a clinical pharmacist, and I basically have 2 or at most 4 days per month to fish. I think the answer is no.

Hey guys! We just "gotta make do". Come join the party, we'll all have fun, catch some fish and sip a few brews. Seating is just something to deal with. Everyone will get on the water at least part of every day. -Kent

what size reel should i pair it with
I highly recommend the 1000 series for the combination you are building. I have the Stella 1000FA saddled to an AVS66MLF. The match is made in heaven!

Trying to gain confidence in a Rattle trap style bait
"Mix up your retrieve" is good advice. However, what's most important is location...Surprising, huh? Fish lipless crankbaits in, over, around and through structure and cover. Bass really cannot stand this lure swimming by! 8-)

The next "big thing"
I can't tell whether this thread is meant to be promotional or not, but either way it doesn't seem effective based on member response. We'll leave it up with a reminder: Advertising is not allowed unless you are a BR sponsor. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

Fat Ikas for large mouth?
You must catch too many fish. We have a lot of guys that would just like to catch some. The Senko is and has been the #1 producer for more than a decade. I suspect it will be #1 for another 10 years. 8-)

Another senko thread !
Hmm... If you want to dispose of you stash, $4.00 a pack and they will be gone in a day. 8-)

A Change to Big Bait Tactics???
Total waste of your fishing time. You don't get to fish enough. Most "Big Bass" guys got that way after tiring of catching too many bass. Do you catch too many? Most big bass guys don't catch many and often don't catch any! There is a very good chance that you won't, either. Are you really ready for that?

Catch & Release
C'mon guys... BassResource.com STRONGLY encourages Catch & Release, but we also support selective harvest. As long as a fisherman is within the law, it is his or her personal decision whether to keep our release their catch. Keeping fish is neither immoral or illegal. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
