Chatterbait Reel Recommendations
It’s kind of like politics. No one is ever going to agree but that doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable to state your perspective. I appreciate you taking a minute to say that. It helps me take a step back and wonder if I am overthinking.

Chatterbait Reel Recommendations
I get what you are saying. The Steez was absolutely relevant IMO given circumstances. In this instance I am saying that I need a reel that is durable, has a good retrieve ratio for a bladed jig, will give me good casting distance, isn’t too heavy since I will be using it for a significant amount of my time on the water and so on. I ask questions because there are a lot of intelligent and experienced anglers on here that can help me think of things I am missing. Put another way... would anyone use a Steez for punching? I’m guessing the answer is no. So, in sone sense at least, the OP seems like a reasonable question.

Chatterbait Reel Recommendations
Quite honestly, I can’t cast a spinning set up as accurately as I would like to save my life. I realize how odd that probably sounds to all of you but it is what it is.

Chatterbait Reel Recommendations
I’m throwing around the idea of the 20 Tatula SV on a Tatula Elite... still not there yet but it is in the running. This is good perspective that I had not thought of. I haven’t even cast into the water yet with my Steez so I’m not really sure what to expect. I love the feel of that reel though. I’m sure it is going to be hard to cast that and then switch over to something else. Ha you guys are killing me. The Steez was probably more than I should have spent but it is for a very specific application that is important for the areas that I fish. Again, I am in the back of the boat and have some limitations as a result. My partner is always having to navigate trees, brush, etc up on the trolling motor so I have periods of time where I am close to overhanging trees or other cover and don’t really have any casting angles. The Steez is helping me skip a wacky worm under all of that when I wouldn’t have any other options.

Chatterbait Reel Recommendations
I’ve read a lot of good things about Fuego CT. I’m also wondering about the new Tatula SV TW or the Alphas SV. I sometimes have pretty tight casting angles with the powerpoles and the consoles for skipping. I’m thinking that SV spool might help a little there but I’m not super concerned about it as Chatterbait are typically the easiest thing for me to skip. I’m not committed to Daiwa but am starting to lean that way as I just purchased a Steez CT SV for another application. The familiarity is kind of nice.

Chatterbait Reel Recommendations
I’m looking to upgrade my Chatterbait rod and reel combo and am after some advice. I started with the BPS Carbonlite 2.0 pairing and then went to the Lews Mach Crush. I definitely liked the feel of the Carbonlite set up better but both were fine. I’m now deep down the rabbit hole of bass fishing and am ready to upgrade if it is worth it. A few thoughts to consider: Chatterbait is where I am most at home and confident. This will need to hold up to a lot of use. This also means that I am willing pretty much any reel, regardless of price, if it is worth it. I typically throw 3/8. I usually fish out out of the back of the boat. This sometimes limits my casting distance and casting angles. I prefer to run straight braid. I usually use 30lb Sufix 832. the ability to skip is important to me. I haven’t had any troubles with this in either set up before but worth noting. I haven’t thought rod yet but would be open to suggestions there too. Thanks for the time, all.

The latest sale thread
Truth! My advertisement says that I can get the combo for a total of $50 off. I've been holding out hoping that the classic sale would have this combo on sale.
-
The latest sale thread
I think the original post is supposed to say rod or reel for $99. That is the add I have anyway.

I wish we had the deal in our market. I have a few Carbonlite combos. Definitely not the top of the line but, when bought at that price, are a great value.

Steez SV TW & Spool Tension Knob
That’s what I have gathered as well BaitFinesse. I get that I can and am not supposed to. I’m just fishing to see if there are any first hand experiences with those who have messed with it. Has it helped? Caused problems? Etc.

Steez SV TW & Spool Tension Knob
I’ve read that the spool tension knob on the Steez is set by the manufacturer and doesn’t need to be adjusted once purchased. Taking it a step further, I’ve read that you literally shouldn’t mess with it. Naturally, I want to mess with it. Does anyone have experience with this to advise one way or another? This is the first reel I’ve had anywhere near this high end so the last thing I want to do is mess it up. At the same time, I want to get this thing as tuned in as possible. Thanks for time and feedback!

Oh, Bass Resource friends... one day your asking about value combos, the next your splurging on a “great deal”...

Understanding Rod Line Rating
I know that there a lot of different opinions on there about how much people need to worry about the rod line rating (especially on fresh water applications) so that’s not really my question here. I’m just wondering if someone can help me understand the science behind why rods have a line rating. Is this a result of lure rating, rod power, and so on? Thanks in advance!

Boat Flipping with a L or ML Rod
No worries A-Jay! I’m just here to learn. I appreciate that you and others take the time to respond with thoughts and opinions. I can’t gain perspective if people don’t take the time to answer my silly questions.

Boat Flipping with a L or ML Rod
I apologize as I wasn’t trying to have a short sighted or controversial topic. I’m relatively new to bass fishing and all I know is what I see or read. I see anglers on MLF flipping all the time and had never had a conversation about it. This helps quite a bit.

Boat Flipping with a L or ML Rod
Fair point, thanks!

Boat Flipping with a L or ML Rod
General question: Am I good to boat flip bass on a L or ML casting rod? I've expanding my toolbox this year to add in some lighter applications and don't want to break my new gear. Thanks for any suggestions, consideration, and so on.

Daiwa 20 Zillion 10 SV TW
Thanks, that does help a bit. I read that it has a different spool (G1 SV), aluminum spool holder, metal star drag, metal main shaft post cover and a palming cup that are upgrades over the old Zillion CT SV but I do not know how to confirm that and, more importantly, what impact that would have on casting. More digging!

Daiwa 20 Zillion 10 SV TW
Has anyone looked into the New Daiwa 20 Zillion 10 SV TW? Is the $100 price difference from the previous Zillion strictly that 10.0:1 ratio and the fact that it is new? Surely there are other differences than this. I can't find much info online but I'll be honest in saying I'm not the best at digging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrPtNC1iGIY

Casting Rod Help: Daiwa Tatula SV TWS for Senko/Wacky/Weightless
This is exactly along the lines of what I am looking for! The Steez SV TW paired with the NRX 852 is definitely out of my budget but I might stretch it a little for the Steez SV TW with the Phenix. Skipping that wacky rig is 90% of what I am going for here. Do you think it would be worth looking at the CT SV? Can you tell me what line you are using for some context? What size hook are you using with that set up? Most of my fishing is with a bladed jig, crankbait or jerkbait on M or MH rods. I'm trying to diversify and know I need to downsize my hook and change my hook set. I don't want to loose action on the wacky worm if I go too light on the hook and I also don't want to be bending the hook. At the same time, I would guess that lighter is better. Do you mess with the drag much? In your opinion, would this set up also throw ned rigs? I genuinely appreciate the help.

Casting Rod Help: Daiwa Tatula SV TWS for Senko/Wacky/Weightless
Hi all! Im looking at getting a Tatula SV TWS to help me throw weightless or light tackle. I might try ned rigs but my main focus is a wacky or weightless rig. I've just got into fishing in the past couple of years and have made a lot of great memories along the way but my frustration continues to be throwing weightless worms. I've been trying to throw on a MH Carbonlite 2.0 combo and fail miserable unless I'm throwing a heavy 5/O worm hook with. I've been looking at Tatula Elite casting rods to pair with. My understanding is that I will do much better with a ML so the rod can load up. The confusion is that a lot of rods that are claimed to be for worms are usually medium or medium heavy. The Tatula Elite comes in a Medium Light with a "Regular" Taper. The lure weight is 1/4-5/8oz. They label this as: TAEL691MLRB Seth Feider LIGHT TOPWATER /JERKBAIT ML R 6'9" 1 8-14 1/4-5/8 Fuji®Alconite The other option could be: TAEL701MMHXB-AGS Brent Ehrler FINESSE M-MH XF 7'0" 1 8-20 1/8-1 DAIWA AGS® (This was pulled from the Daiwa site: https://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/rods/tatula_elite/index.html) Would I be crazy to look at the Feider vs. the Ehrler? Do I just need to practice more with something other than a BPS rod? Also, should I be as concerned as I am about the "Regular" taper vs. the extra fast taper? Finally... I definitely want to stick with a baitcaster. I'm personally much more comfortable with a baitcaster than a spinning set up. Thanks, all!

BPS MH Carbonlite 2.0 Suggestions
Thanks, Luke. I’m sure a lot of this is basic info but there are so many different resources and opinions out there that it is hard to know where to start. My father-in-law is a class act and will certainly help get me up to speed but I want to put in the effort on my end and not play 20 questions when we actually make our way to the water.

BPS MH Carbonlite 2.0 Suggestions
Back to the original rod and reel... We fish a lot of ChatterBait and I picked up a couple Pop R the other day. This should match up well, right?

BPS MH Carbonlite 2.0 Suggestions
Thanks for the feedback, fishingmickey, I really do appreciate it. It is the combo... a 6’9” fast action. I’m just excited to start getting my own equipment. We run the boat along the banks most of the time. I would like to get a second Carbonlite 2.0 combo and keep the length of the rod the same and have the same reel ratio while I get more experience. Would it make sense to get a Medium-Light to have a little diversity in what I throw for bank fishing?

BPS MH Carbonlite 2.0 Suggestions
I just started getting into bass fishing with my father-in-law since I have completed my grad program and have settled down. I grew up on the water but admit that most of my time was spent fishing for crappie. With that said, I've got a steep learning curve ahead related to rods and reels, tackle, and so on. My question: I was gifted a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 Medium Heavy 8.3:1. What are some ideal set ups (application, line, tackle) that I could use? Thanks in advance!
