  1. I've had this happen but not often enough. I try to be "in the zone" as Rick Clunn describes it. Listening to your gut and acting on those feelings is a good skill to cultivate, but I think it requires practice. Those "pigeon flutterings" are easy to ignore or if you are distracted, easy to miss.
  2. Thank you for your input. I figured it out. There is a "stopped" setting in the Dialog Box. I un-stopped it and solved the issue.
  3. I figured it out. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you!
  4. I posted this in the wrong spot earlier. Bought new, took to lake today and it says "stopped" after I select DI, SI, or 2D. I don't know why nor can I figure out what to do. I'm not very experienced with technology. Can anyone help? Thank you.
  5. Just bought, got to lake and says "stopped" on screen after I select DI or SI or 2D. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?
  6. What is the effect of fishing pressure on bass? I fish small, 60 to 80 acre, private lakes with no boat ramps. Rarely do I see another fisherman. I fish each lake once a week. These are dirty water, soft bottom lakes. Does my presence and catching these bass affect my catch rate over time? Is fishing once a week too much, or not? Thank you for your thoughts!

Thank you, I will give this a try next time I go!

Any advice on how to catch bass in the duckweed when they won't come up on a frog. I cover water, vary the tempo, concentrate on areas with activity or if I catch one but some days I'll spank em and some days very little even when I'm pretty sure there are bass under the duckweed (swirls, or bluegill popping, etc.). I fish out of a small boat and must sit down so flipping and pitching is difficult (not impossible, but I was pretty good at it when I could stand and use a foot controlled motor). Thank you for any advice and thoughts!
  9. The lakes I fish have 6 inches of visibility and forage is bluegill. Use colors mentioned but catch more on black, second choice is black, third choice is black.
  10. I ran out of those Uncle Josh pork products a long time ago. Now I use a plastic stick bait on the back of my hair jigs.
  11. I started a BASS club back in the 70's. We had tournaments but they were more fun than competitive, but some of the guys thought they were real gunslingers. This was in Fort Dodge Iowa where there was a Lazy Ike plant. Anyway, a young kid joined the club and at the first tournament he fished he brought a spin cast outfit and a handful of Lazy Ikes. The gunslingers were scoffing at him, until the weigh in.......he outfished all of us! He never said much and never came back!
  12. Black bucktail, banana head jig with a black Uncle Josh pork eel caught this one in 1976. Still works today!
  13. I like people, I just don't want to be around them.
  14. When my son was young, back in the 70's, we fished a pond with duckweed. I had 2 Bill Plummer Super Frogs. This was the start of my Frog addiction. Anyway, I'll never forget a big bass that gollywhopped my sons frog and darned near pulled him into the water! After that every time when we would get ready to go fishing we would high five and exclaim "SUPERFROG!" I'd like to go back to that time and place. Thank God for memories!
  15. Thank you all for your comments! Fishing was kinda tough, frogs, buzzbait, swim worm didn't work. I gave her a Bomber 1/4 oz model A and she fished it on break off of main lake flats in 6 fow. She caught 6 bass and 2 crappie in about an hour. The rod and reel came from BPS, I didn't look too close but it said Major League Fishing on it. I was very surprised how well she could cast. We will go again!
  16. She did great! Casting was good with baitcaster. Got 2 backlashes and got them out herself! Asked good questions. We had fun! I didn't fish, just ran the boat and refrained from trying to tell her everything I know!
  17. Thank you all for taking the time to give me great advice! Our adventure is coming up in the next few days. I will post a report then.
  18. Awesome advice! Thank you very much!
  19. Advice needed. I have the opportunity to teach a young lady to bass fish. I fish small, 60 to 80 acre, watershed lakes from a small boat. There is no fishing pressure. I'm 74, she is 20. I feel like I should have a game plan. I want her to learn, catch fish, and have fun. How would you folks do this? Thank you for any help you can give.
  20. Don't forget the important part, learning how to fish!
  21. The fish don't care, it only affects people.
  22. Research how people with disabilities can fish. There are lots of adaptive equipment that will help you.
  23. Thermocline shows from the bottom and up to the temperature change. I think what you are seeing is suspended matter.
  24. That looks like it will be stable and comfortable to fish out of. Congratulations! I'm sure you checked it over before you bought it.....but don't forget to pull the wheel bearings and make sure they are good along with the axle splines.
  25. Tim, I hope these photos went through, I am lousy with this computer stuff. I founded and directed a nonprofit organization, Serve Outdoors, in 2008. These devices got a lot of use by people with disabilities. Good luck!
