  1. If you've never caught a fish on a treble hook bait I wouldn't recommend buying a combo specifically for that technique. I'd recommend using the rod and reel you have now and practice with treble baits until you are confident in them and can justify buying a combo.
  2. Are you looking for a baitcasting combo or all spinners?
  3. Those reels are from some of the best reel manufacturers in the world. You should not be having these issues. I think that user error is the source of your problems.
  4. I'd go with Dobyns Fury, Daiwa Tatula, and Okuma TCS you can get the tcs for under $100 on amazon (usually $150 on TW).
  5. I learned on a Kast king too. It's a tricky to reel to get used to but it's great to learn with.
  6. What reel is it? What bait are you throwing? What rod are you using? All of these things make a difference. If you are trying to throw a weightless 4 inch senko you won't be getting much distance and it'll be very easy to backlash.
  7. I've been considering a Curado rod. Maybe for Christmas I'll get lucky lol.
  8. That is an amazing deal! Wish I had academy's near me. Seems like they are always having awesome sales!
  9. If suggest investing in hook bonnets, they are relatively cheap and no more hook rash and reduced tangles Nvm just saw this ??
  10. I love mine I'm getting a crankbait rod once the sales come
  11. So your spool tension is the little dial next to your drag star. You adjust it to slow down your spool. With magforce braking systems that dial is supposed to be looser than normal. Usually you set up a reel so that the bait lowers slowly and doesn't overrun when it hits the ground. This works but you don't get maximum distance. Instead you adjust it until your spool just clicks slightly when you move it back and forth.
  12. Spiderwire SCS30C-300 Stealth Camo Braid https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LDYNCO8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_FabATH8VFvL88
  13. I personally use Spiderwire stealth. You can get a 300 yard spool for around $14 on amazon.
  14. I really appreciate it! I will speak with my father when he gets home.
  15. I am in the exact same situation as you Are! Also in highschool so money is kinda tight for me. I was thinking of making a similar thread but you bear me to it!
  16. ??? Maybe id have more boxes if I didn't keep getting snagged!
  17. I only have 3 Plano 3700 boxes!
  18. Hey guys, I've been looking everywhere for blue flurocarbon because I think it'll go really nice on my Shimano Slx. The problem is I can't find any anywhere! Does anyone know where I can get blue flurocarbon? Or will i have to settle for white? Thanks guys, JvW
  19. On tacklearehouse the Max is $160, the Endurance is $150. I appreciate the offer for the code, but I'm not ready to purchase just yet.
  20. I'm gonna be waiting for black Friday sales before I pull the trigger on any rod. That gives me plenty of time for me to drive myself crazy with rod options.
  21. Hey guys, I have yet another rod question. In my search for a new rod I came across the Powell Endurance and Powell Max 3d. I'll probaly get the 734 model for jigs and t rigs, which one would you guys prefer? Is there a reason the Max costs $10 more? Thanks guys! JvW
  22. I use my dad's old Xml rod from 13-15 years ago daily and it still works fine! My hope is that the tournament zx is the same. But because of you, I'm seriously looking at those Powell Endurances!
  23. How do you think the Endurance rods compare to the Max rods? I love the looks of the Endurance, but in the end performance will be the main reason for for purchasing.
