  1. Launched out of center street today and ran up the titabawassee to m-46. Water is way low but, I could still launch my 17 ft sea nymph with a 90 hp. Just had to back a ways in. Didn’t have any problems going up river and could still run wide open. Caught 3 fish and lost 1. Biggest came on a pb&J jig with yum craw junk. The smaller large mouth and the little smallie came on a black and blue jig with rage menace as a trailer. I lost a nice bass on a smith wick rattlin rouge chrome and silver jerk bait
  2. Today was a struggle and almost took the L. However, I was able scratch out one to avoid the skunk . Launched at lee street. Started on the Shiawassee and nodda. Went up the cass a little bit and nothing. Ran back down to down town Saginaw to one of my historically better spots. picked up one large mouth on one of my pb&j arkie jigs that make. Nothing special but, about 15 inches. Today was struggle to say the least. Did real good this spring on bass on the Saginaw and Shiawassee but, summer has been a differnt story. we need rain bad. I was leary of the titabawassee but, should have tried it I guess. Probably would have better protected from the wind. Rivers are down in the Saginaw Area probably 3-4 feet from the past summers. We have not had much rain since April
  3. Not that I’m aware of. I fished it a bit yesterday
  4. This is how I’m doing it. It swims straight and the tail has a lot of action. When you kill it. It kinda flutters and cork screws down
  5. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that The average joe sucks at fishing and gets lucky once at a while with a decent fish. How do I know that because, I was that average joe at one time. I made the same mistakes that they did. The people on these forums are probably the top fisherman in their respected areas outside of the pro’s and weekend tournament people. If they are not already pro’s or weekend tournament anglers which, I’m sure a lot are. I took the advice of upgrading hooks 4 years ago on my cranks and my hook up to land ratio greatly increased 100%. Every moving bait I own outside of spro, mega bass, etc etc gets up graded hooks. If I didn’t I would be waisting my time. I don’t like to waist my time.
  6. No regularly rigging it. The hook point goes through the hook slot
  7. No it seems to swim fine in it’s own. I’m using 6/0 beast hook with 1/4 wieght molded onto it.
  8. I’m using the 6/0 beast hook on the 130. I fished it for the first time yesterday. I had a couple decent hits and water was clear enough that I could see what was probably a 2lbs bass hitting it. I think he just got the tail though. I love the action on it so far. I may have to buy the smaller version. As it would have to be a fairly large Michigan bass to choke a 130.
  9. Hit up little crystal In Montcalm county Michigan. I left work at 6 am and I was fishing by 7:15. Took the first decent and 2 smaller bass on a spro silver and olive little John DD finally decided to fish a Carolina rig. So I pulled out my old 7ft lighting rod and put it to good use. I picked up a nice large mouth and then 2 smallies. The 2nd one was a dandy smallie. I was using a Berkley maxx scent GP tube with 1/4 oz thungsten wieght on the Carolina rig. these were the First small mouth I have taken out of little crystal. We have had such a mild summer that the smallie are very shallow still. The bigger smallie was caught in 6ft of water at 12pm
  10. I’ve got a 10 year old accurist ac30pti and the thing has been a tank. When I bought it all I was doing was river fishing by wadding. So it got the crap kicked out if it. I havnt fished it much in the last 3 years but, it’s outlived 2 presidents, 1 okuma avenger, and 1 okuma cemar-30. If the reel was a size smaller I would still be using it. I also have a quantum accurist bait caster with the flipping switch. Again havnt used it much as of late but, it’s out live a supreme and a silver max. for some reason quantum and especially the accurist line doesn’t get much love. I feel they are underrated.
  11. A buddy and I hit up Saginaw bay today. We launched in bay city and farther up the Saginaw river than I wanted but, Patterson was full. We had a 20-30 minute boat ride to the mouth. we fished around spoils island first. While going around the island I caught 2 big sheap head and 2 smallies on a Norman middle N root beer crank. Only the biggest one is pictured. next we moved east about 2 miles and into shallower water. I caught 1 big smallie and about 5-7 large mouths in 2.5ft of water. I was fishing a GP maxx scent general worm wacky rigged. Buddy caught 2 large mouths. Where we were fishing looked like an old break wall. It was a line of rocks underneath the water that extend 2 miles out into the lake
  12. Intend to use jigs when fishing hard cover ie lay downs, rocks or wood or punching threw thick vegetation. I tend to t-rig when I’m fishing softer cover. However, these are no absolute rules.
  13. After work Friday bass!!!!. Punched out of work at 6 am. After eating breakfast I was the first one on the water at 7:15am. Not giving the lakes name as it’s very small and located near Lansing in Clinton county MI. This has been a secret of mine for 4-5 years now. The state game area that surrounds the lake is named after it. It’s almost 10 minutes due west of sleepy hollow/lake Ovid. Take the same exit off 127 for some reason these fish absolutely crush a 6 inch black and blue flake ocho t-rigged with a 1/4 oz weight. All I do is cast or flip into outskirts or pockets in the pads that ring the lake. first fish came on a baby bass fluke. I’m hoping this fluke is another piece of the puzzle on this lake. It’s either I knock them dead or nothing. However, the fish are always cruising and crushing minnows on the surface. Whether I’m catching fish or not. last fish came on a 5 inch savage gear boot tail black crappie swim bait with 5/0 beast hook. So first panfish boot tail catch. Also, on rainshadow blank that I built.
  14. That fixed the problem. Had to reset my settings. Thanks !!!
  15. Might just have to do that. I just adjusted my side scan to where I was seeing everything good. The way points would be saved on the chip right ?
  16. Unfortunately this is part of the game that we play. This is a blood sport. As long as you don’t make a habit of it you did nothing wrong. What you did does not fall under the wantone waste rules that most state have. meaning killing a fish just to kill it. The stored energy and protein in that fish went to feed the snapper and other organisms in the lake. The circle of life continues.
  17. Continuing the expensive crank theme. Mega bass deep 300 3/4 blue gill mega bass deep 100 another 300 coming in the mail. hoping the brown bass like these 3/4’s mega bass cranks in The fall
  18. That’s pretty much what happened. The bends near the eye destroys the nose of the tube. Allowing the tube to slip down I will look into stupid rigging
  19. I like graphite cranking rods. Save $50 and look at the Okuma EVx carbon cranking rod 7 ft medium. I bought mine for $100 2 years ago. Love the rod. It handles small kvd 1.5 sq bills/bandit 200’s up to a XD-5/DT-15. I have it paired with a diawa 150p tws tatula. Awesome shallow to medium crank rod.
  20. I’ve been using my $40 Walmart clearance Falcon Jason Christie 6ft6 mh square bill/spinner bait rod to throw spinner baits and chatter baits. It works pretty good And I caught a lot of fish on it this spring. for a reel I use a regular 6:4 shimano slx reel with 10 lbs big game mono The Chatter baits and spinner bite is starting to die though as summer progresses in Michigan
  21. I think too that each person natural rhythm/ action is different. Meaning everything the same skill set, lures, line, poles, and retrieve. one person will out fish the other person. meaning we each impart differnt natural actions in our retrieves. We may not know that we are doing it but, we are. just our natural cadence when retrieving a lure. it’s not big change like jerking or pausing the but, something that will naturally get strikes. kinda like a picture. No 2 pictures throw a fast ball the same. Some pictures natural impart movement on the pitch. While, others throw it straight as can be.
  22. Very back row is all lipless This is the first year I’ve really used my square bills a lot. They have caught a lot fish. Usually, I would have used a regular crank in the past. Most of mine are the 1.5 size. Almost all of mine are silent and fish still find them 1ft-2ft visibility The Most productive have been the strike king kvd’s, and lucky craft American series with circuit board lip. I caught multiple species on the loan spro last year ( circuit board) . I have 6th sense, lunker hunt ( actually pretty good sq bill), couple bandits, and a couple Rick clunns . best bang for your buck is the strike king. Even though, they lack imho in natural looking ones. Sexy shad is a good one, any of the shad colors along with the rest of the bolder colors. I change all the hooks out with Mustad KVD’s I fish the lucky crafts ones because, they have a lot of good flashy silver and natural patterns. I’m not a fan of their bolder colors. I yet to catch much on my 6th sense. They are well made baits with good paint jobs. I’ve got a Rick clunn square bill that I’ve caught bass in before. Some how they are tied to lucky craft?
  23. So I wanted to start throwing more herb baits in the titabawassee. Only issue is it’s only a foot visibility with a ton of snags. The only colors that show up well are ones that flash, chartreuse, and black. husky jerks fit this bill. Also while at cabelas I bought another 2.5 square bill. More blue and black tubes and rage menaces
  24. Back to the drawing board. The 3/0 ewg hooks I had were a failure. So I had bought the owner twist locks a couple years ago and just had the lying around. They are also 3/0. I like the way the hook ticks up in there better big issue with ewg’s is that they just destroyed the nose of the tube. The twist lock doesn’t seem to do that
