Something must have been wrong with the palomar knot. I have been using it for years and never had it fail while fishing. I have had it fail when tying and the tag end slips out but fails when you tighten the knot. I pull pretty hare when I tighten it though. Can see not catching it if youre not pulling pretty hard though.

These were completely fine in the fall. They sat in the box in the house maybe a month. Was fishing in Dec. The other day pulled them out and noticed it. Wast like it sat in the sun or any thing. Have absolutely no clue what caused it. Makes me not want to buy them though.

Any one ever had a rapala shadow rap spider crack? They were bought last season. Happened to 2 of them. Bills were terrible looking. Dont have a pic of it ended up tossing them. Just wondering if its a common problem? Liked them but dont want to waste more money. No other baits did it but those. Happened over winter some time.

Yeah but the pontoons were great. I barely ever sat going down river. Even hit rapids standing up. I even thought about getting pontoons on my pursuit for the initial stability. I was 100% confident in the freedom hawk.

My buddy has one and loves it. I would check for some used ones to. Can find nice set ups for a good price. Especially if you fish smaller rivers. I fish the Shenandoah mostly and can get a good amount of wear on it in a season.

I had an older model 14. Mine held up really good actually. I only fished it one season though. Got some heavy use. Survived everything the Shenandoah threw at it. My only dislike was the rod storage. I hate vertical rod holders on a yak. Most of the time just laid them at me feet.

What kayak do you run? What's the pros and cons of it? I have realized theres no such thing as the perfect kayak. Theres always pros and cons for every yak . what unique rigging methods do you use? I currently run a nucanoe pursuit. Got it over the winter so far been a good vessel. Water has been to cold to test its limits though. Had a freedom hawk 14 and loved it. Liked it so much I consider getting another just to have it.

Yeah your right about checking local laws. In VA you have to register for any propulsion beside human.

I ran a 5 dollar lantern from walmart for my 360 light last season.

Never seen this happen. Did you try a weighted hook? Can you post a pic of your rig?

Yeah. Smallies will still hit it. My first of the year was on the pause I was just drifting with the current. One reason I want to fish it more. Kind of cut down on the power fishing to a sense on floats. Going to do a lot shorter sections this year though to have more time to fish spots.

Keitechs sungill has been my best producer for smallmouths.

Yeah Im going to do a lot of experimenting this spring. I fish the Shenandoah a lot. A lot of the time they will hit it on the pause while go down stream for me. I fished jerk baits before just not as heavy as I plan on doing it this year. Usually I'm throwing a keitech a lot of the time. Fishing rivers with current have you noticed big difference with cadences?

Thats the main species I fish. First smallie of the year I pulled out the Shenandoah was on a jerk bait.

I do test all my baits out before I fish them. Usually just in the water in front of me before I fish it. New baits I will sit there and try retrieves and not even fish for the first 10 min or so. Will do

Snakeheads arent as bad as they seem. I was reading in the Potomac the snakehead population slowed down and the large mouth bass level has actually risen. I say enjoy them as the next game fish.
