  1. Can catch them in harpers Ferry to. Buddies caught a couple Friday evening
  2. I just set my fly rod up after years of colloecting dust.
  3. I will check it out
  4. Yeah I generally work them slow. I dont watch to many bass tournaments though. Will have to check it out. I generally watch YouTube videos but only the ones I feel like are informative. Thanks Yeah I always mix it up. I generally dont keep a pattern though. Will try it out. Usually I go between 1-4 jerks let is pause and keep as random as possible.
  5. Thank @A-Jay read half way through it. Had a lot of info but Im more wanting to see what retrieves work for people. At work right now so dont know if at the end speaks of it more. Saw alot about brands, tuning, suspending, floating, sinking, etc. Retrieval methods was my main focus. Seeing if some one can enlighten me on something new.
  6. I see people fishing jerk baits different ways. See some people do more of a pulling action, some jerking it, even some just casting and retrieving it. I personally always have fished them by jerking it on slack line. How do you guys fish your jerk baits? What are some techniques you use? Do you see a difference in production one way you fish them from another? Maybe a technique works better for different jerk baits? Like to hear how every one does their thing with jerkbaits. Maybe enlighten some of us on new techniques.
  7. What are some recommended spots in northern VA? Can be any thing lakes, ponds, rivers and if it has boat access or not. Thanks
  8. I kayak my self. Milk crate is some thing I actually dont carry. If I did though be my camping stuff. I got places for every thing on my yak at the moment. How do you like the ascend? I was looking at them. I ended up getting a nucanoe pursuit this winter.
  9. Interesting. What I want to hear. Like to hear experiences. Do you think because it was gin clear had a difference? The river I fish is clear but there is a gin clear lake by me which I have been skunked on a few times and when I say gin clear its clear. Can easily see bottom in 10 foot of water.
  10. I have been trying leaders. I fish ponds a lot. They are close to where I live so can hit them easily. I haven't seen a difference yet personally in producing fish. At least in the ponds I fish which is in a middle of a neighborhood so it sees a lot of action. I have noticed some days they prefer smaller profiles then others they dont care and will hit any thing.
  11. I do appreciate people's opinions. Ine thing I like about fishing I am constantly learning. Has been on the same baits and all? I have been yanking fish out before and my buddy get skunked and he uses "standard" line. True statement.
  12. That has crossed my mind about A rigs and the thick wire thats used. Lmao. True. I can see where that comes in to play Yeah. I would be salty losing a bunch of lures to a fish Im not targeting.
  13. Heard of people doing that before.
  14. I use power pros 20 lb which is suppose to be 6 lb mono equivalent. They make a 10 and a 8 lb braid which is suppose to be 2 lb abd 1lb mono equivalent. So there's some pretty light braid. Do you notice a difference in presentations in different types of lines? Same with SMB to me. Havent noticed a difference. Yeah I can understand that. Can see it being a confidence booster.
  15. I seen some where the Potomac is in the top ten most danderous rivers in the world. Might have been a youtube video don't remember exactly but believe so. So cant say how creditable it is.
  16. Would like to hear opinions on if you believe fish are line shy or not. Heres is my view. I fished straight braid for years and for all apllications. I never had a problem catching fish. I believed if a fish is line shy they would be hook shy. This is the first year running leaders and honestly havent notice a big difference yet personally. Today I fished straight braid on jerk baits and had no problem hooking up on fish. This being the first time this year fishing straight braid . I have yanked bass out of some heavily fished ponds which would be considered "pressured". Even watch a guy cry fishing shiners on lets say standard fishing line for this case since I dont know what he exactly had spooled in the sense of flouro, mono etc. about Turners pond ( a small pond in VA) being over fished and by the time he got to his car yanked a bass out in the same area he was fishing off of straight braid fishing a weightless soft plastic. So just want some opinions on what you all believe when it comes to line? Are they line shy or not?
  17. I havent fished the James yet but thats one river I would like to hit this year. Like to see how it goes for you. Keep us posted. I personally would just fan cast the area Im fishing different depths of the water column. In the Shenandoah I do good with paddle tail swimbaits. Option for various depths. Could even try a spy bait. Shenandoah is mostly pretty shallow though with some deep spots. Main river system I fish so thats what i would try my self.
  18. Past Chrisrmas weekend I went out manage to pull one in on a baby d bomb. Just texas rigged and 1/4 weight. Just dragging the bottom. Bait you can try out in cold water.
  19. I personally will fish any day and in any condition. All you can do is go at it and try.
  20. Have confidence in your bait. Dont be afraid to think outside of the box and believe your self that you are going to catch fish.
