OK, just picked up two Shimano Talavera inshore spinning rods. One is a 7 foot medium fast The other is a 7 foot heavy fast. Couldn’t pass up a deal $20 each brand new. I mostly fish bass pro carbon liite and Dobyns. Just curious how these rods are for freshwater bass fishing and what would be good uses for them. Don’t know if they have the same response and fit as the rods I use. Thanks in advance.

Looking at both reels. I know quantum doesn’t have big investment in spinning reels like abu Garcia. Just looking for users experience with these 2 reels. Thanks

Dobyns 702sf or St Croix mjs610mlxf I hear both are good finesse rods. What are your experiences with these spinning rods and what do you use them for ?

A few of my spinning rods have micro guides. The rod socks I have are the tight mesh. When sliding the rod into it, the top guide pops through sometimes. What is everyone using for rod sleeves?

Ok, picked up a couple Johnny Morris carbonlites with 30 series reels. A Stradic CI4 and abu Garcia revo SX. I hear a lot about braid. I am worried about wind knots, seems they are caused by many things including twitching baits,line going through guides and closing bail at end of cast.They also say sensitivity is great. What line should I start off with. Make and #. It’s for Mainly soft plastics and if I can swing it, another set up with vibrating jig. Btw presently fish maxima ultra green mono ty

No, like I said I found it not a challenge. I am a sport fisherman and to me there was no sport there. That’s why there are aight classes in fighting, youth sports are per age or size. Why, to make it a fair sport. That’s just my thoughts

Bed fishing is like shooting fish in a barrel. Not a tough thing. They attack almost anything you throw to protect the bed. I quit that long time ago.

Taking you back to your early years of fishing where we had one line on our spinning reels. No leaders just line to lure. What line are you now going to tie to that lure ( many new products from years ago)and why? Superline,flouro,mono ?

I was out a show in Rockland county. Stopped by the Okuma booth. The Okuma Helios SX series 30 was a smooth operating reel. Ratio is 5.0:1. I am looking to purchase a few new reels. Was also looking at Revo SX on sale at Bass Pro for a good deal and a higher gear ratio 6.0:1. Big difference or splitting hairs? Btw abu Garcia will send the new clutch bearing for the anti reverse issue this reel has. Thanks. Other options was Lews orange crush.
