A few of my spinning rods have micro guides. The rod socks I have are the tight mesh. When sliding the rod into it, the top guide pops through sometimes. What is everyone using for rod sleeves?

 

I use Rod Socks. I also have a micro guide peek through to see what’s going on from time to time, but it’s not a big deal.

So tuck it back in.

So if it comes through the top....  that kind of defeats the purpose of a rod sock as the top guide is probably what gets dinged up the most.   

 

I have a St. Croix Legend Elite that came with a sock.  It too has the larger mesh but St. Croix lopped a piece of material on the end of it that prevents the rod from coming out and it also cushions it.

 

For all my other rods, I have been using these from Amazon.  The pic shows the closed end material.  I like these better than the ones at BPS.  They just seem cheap compared to the ones below.

I use the Tackle Warehouse brand ones and like them alot. They have a strap to hold the sleeve on and are a pretty tight mesh.

I have the Rod Glove neoprene sleeves.

I'm just using a 10 pack I bought on Amazon for $25 or so. I actually am at the point where I should buy another 10 pack, but the shipping times are horrendous at the moment so I will have to wait until after my upcoming camping trips. They work and so far they've held up fine.

 

The only spinning rods I normally carry with me are medium and medium lights, and while my St Croix Avid X has microguides, they are small enough where they fit. Anything much larger and they wouldn't.

I use Rod Glove rod socks. These are the tight mesh weave. So far the top guide has not come through the weave.

it looks like they are hanging from hole on top. What prevents the rod from falling out, I don’t see any strap looped to reel

If you take a small cable tie and put it over the end and cinch it down it most likely will prevent the tiptop from going through at the end.  Carefully insert the rod so the tip doesn't go out before getting to the end.

On the casting rigs, I simply slip the bottom guide through the weave.  On the spinners I insert a 2 inch nail through the weave just below the guide closest to the reel.  Both methods do the job.

I tried these from Reaction Tackle and like them. I chose "pointed end". They offer flat ended. The weave is nice and tight and the elastic strap seems to be good. Both orders arrived 2 days after shipping during the past 2 weeks.

Going to check these out. I like the picture where it shows how the sock fits on each length rod, no guesswork.

Where I worked we made expando sleeving used for aerospace wire harnesses. I used the expando braid for decades and never thought it would become a popular rod sleeve...duh!

I just folded one end over and stapled it closed, no issues with tip giude poking trough.
