hollow body frogs or soft plastic frogs
What do you perfer to use? ive been missing a lot of hook ups lately on hollow body frogs and havent tried soft plastic frog yet. ive tried to play with the timing a little, letting them take it for a sec before setting the hook but it doesnt seem to help my hookup ratio. any recommendations on soft plastic frogs to try? or tips for better hook up ratio on hollow bodies?

Rod or reel more important for frog setup.
Update: incase anyone reads this post later, i ended up getting a new reel so far. I went with the Daiwa Feugo CT. It is amazing. Super smooth and casts a mile. Highly recommend it to anyone in the $100 range. I got it in the 8.1:1 left handed. Next up will be getting a new rod for my frog set up. Amazing reccomemdation. Got the feugo ct in 8.1:1. Amazing reel for the price

add a medium power baitcasting rod for a bank/kayak fisherman?
So i fish from the banks before work and on my kayak on the weekends. I usually bring 3 rods with me when i go out (med spinning, mh baitcasting, h baitcasting). Ever since i started using baitcasting setups i hardly ever use my spinning rod. I would like to throw small crank baits, weightless plastics, top water poppers, the smaller whopper plopper, smaller spinnerbaits but i dont really wanna use the spinning rod, it just kind of feels awkward now lol. The only time i used it was when i would throw a wacky rig. I have an extra 6.4:1 baitcasting reel. Should i buy a medium baitcasting rod to replace the spinning rod?

How is this reel in 8.1:1 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/13_Fishing_Inception_Slide_Casting_Reels/descpage-13IS.html?from=basres Would that make for a good frog reel?

Rod or reel more important for frog setup.
Yeah i get to impatient somtimes on the hookset and rip the frog from the fish. Its so tough sometimes cuz of the excitement when you see the bass come up and crush the frog lol

Rod or reel more important for frog setup.
Thats how i feel now using the piscifun. I got it cuz it was cheap and i just learning how to use a baitcaster but now that im more comfortable with them, i think its time to upgrade. Thanks ill check it out. Yeah im using braid now (65lb). For a cheap setup its not bad but i do think its time for an upgrade and i live in south florida so fishing in heavy cover or grass is like in our blood.

Rod or reel more important for frog setup.
What part of a frog setup should i focus more on? I have a cheap setup that im currently using (7’ heavy berkley lightning stick and piscifun torrent 7.1:1) and it does the job but the reel kind of struggles when i have a 3lb or bigger bass or snakehead on and the rod is kind of heavy to keep working back. so i want to slowly start updating the setup. Ive been looking at the *** *** 8.1:1 but that would leave me with around $80 for a rod. I would like to stay around $200 total.

Help identifying rods
So i was at the lake the other day and started talking to another guy as i was leaving and he was showing me his rods and he was saying its the only brand of rods he uses anymore. I can not for the life of me remember what the hell it was. I remember the rods were white baitcasting rods and they listed the specific technique that they are used for on them near the handle (“jig”, “crankbait”, etc). Anyone have any idea? Ive tried using google but cant find them. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks!

Transporting a kayak with or without a bed extender?
I have a standard size bed on my ram. I just throw my 12’ kayak in the back with the tailgate up and strap it down and use bungies inside the bed just to make sure if doesnt budge. Ive havent noticed any damage to the yak. ive only had the truck for about 2 months but have traveled 3 hours on the highway with no issues

storing 2 piece rod
Yeah all my main rods are 1 piece, i just dont personally like 2 peice rods but i was at dicks and it was on sale and i had a coupon so for $12 i couldnt pass it up lol. ill look into a case and reel up the slack to keep it tight thanks.

storing 2 piece rod
So i just picked up a cheap 2 piece spinning rod to keep in my truck as a "truck rod" just in case i ever needed one. How would i store it in the truck? i put the hook on the hook keeper and broke it into 2 pieces but the line wont stay tight enough to keep the hook on the hooker keeper and kept getting tangled. it has 15 pound power pro braid on it. i was thinking of using a rubber band keep the pieces together? any ideas would be great thanks!

Fish being hook in upper jaw near eye?

Fish being hook in upper jaw near eye?
Yesterday i caught 4 bass and 3 of 4 were hooked pretty good in the upper jaw. 1 was very close to his eye and i felt bad lol. Is it the way im setting the hook? I havent noticed this before yesterday but i was using some worm hooks i picked up at walmart (dont remember the brand). It was the first time i was using those hooks. The bass i caught were small 1 to 2 pounds. I was using a 3/0 offset worm hook on a Zoom U-tail worm texas rigged. Just trying to figure out if im setting the hook weird or the hook was too big for the small bass i was catching? Not sure, any thougts??

Powerpro braided line.
If you use mono backing you wont need to spool all of it. I only use half of the braid and save the rest for later or another reel. For me it works out cuz i dont have to cast further then 40 yards or so and have some extra braid on the spool for retying different lures or whatever.

Powerpro braided line.
Yeah thats the same stuff i have. You will be fine. Just make sure you use something for backing and spool it on tight. Im pretty sure glen make a video on how to spool braid on the bassresource youtube channel.

Newbie Baitcaster Backlash (I know)
I basically just went through this but ill drop my 2 cents from what i learned from others here. First i put on a heavy weight and put the breaks on 3/4 of the way on. Then i tighten down the cast control knob until the weight fell really slow. I casted that way until i felt comfortable and slowly would adjust the settings. I was used to casting side arm with spinning gear but found that with the baitcaster that it was easier for me to go overhand when casting. And of course practice, practice and practice. I spent about a month of casting a weight in my backyard before i brought it to the water lol. It will get easier. I had plenty of thoughts of giving up and just sticking to spinning gear but it will be worth it. Also make your thumb love the spool and never want to leave it.

Powerpro braided line.
Your welcome. When you spool it on make sure you use some mono for backing or use tape to tape the knot down to the spool. Braid doesnt stick to the spool well after it gets wet a few times.

Powerpro braided line.
I use that brand on 2 of my setups. I have 30# on one and 65# on my frog/heavy cover set up. Its actually the only braid i have tried lol but its good stuff

How to haul jon boat
Yeah i think im making the switch soon, it just seems more practical since i work from home and when i do go places its usually to fish or bring my bike to a park to ride. when i pick up the jon boat ill def be going to more places to fish since ill be able to launch at many more lakes then just my usual fishing hole.
