Reel Magic or Real Hype?
The KVD line and lure spray is great for Flourocarbon...it softens and makes it easier to handle. Asked him all about this Thursday at a show.

fishing through the lpads
I would stay away from throwing a football jig into vegetation. There are alot grass jig on the market that will work alot better for this, my preference is a 3/8 or 1/2oz Evolution Jig with a Paca craw trailer. Don't get discouraged if you get backlashes, The better the reel you buy the less backlashes you will get. Practice casting, flipping and pitching out on your lawn or in a pool. I practice all time to keep myself ready, my wife and neighbors think I'm nuts out on the lawn in the snow.

scented vs non-scented.
I wont even throw a lure scented or unscented in a tournament without Smelly Jelly on it. I recoat ever 10-12 casts. Just a light coat, I have confidence in it and I believe it helps the lure go thru vegetation easier.

Best approach?..scenario included
Find the best map available, Study it hard taking into consideration the time of year and current conditions and make several game plans..ie: fish points..flats.. Once on the lake, follow the first plan of attack for the entire day.If results were not what was expected go to plan 2. Then adjust as conditions dictate. The problem with hiring a guide is there is no challenge whatsoever. After figuring out lakes for yorself for awhile you will get better at it and sooner or later your experiences will make this an easy process even on lakes you have never seen before. I do this all the time, I will pick out a lake I have never been to and break it down as best as I can.

Tournament Weights
Most of the members of the club I belong to average between 1.6lbs to 2.3 lbs per fish. For New England waters this isn't that bad. Our average weight per 5 fish per tournament is 10.59lbs. This is a 35 man club with experience ranging from novice to 2 time Classic qualifier.

numbers or size - what takes more skill?
Catch the limit first then go looking for a "kicker" fish. Big bass as usually loners and hang out in the either the nastiest cover around or near deep water such as humps.

Colors that Bass See?
Question: Why will smallmouth bass come out of 30 feet of water to crush a chartruese spinnerbait running just below the surface if they are color or yellow blind?

First Glass Boat
My first bass boat was a 17 foot flat bottomed Sea Nymph with a 70 hp evinrude. This boat was great because I could go anywhere with it and not be worried about wrecking a gel coat. I learned all the lakes with it and after a couple years with it I upgraded to a 18 foot fiberglass boat. Today I have a Triton Tr-20dc w/ a 200hp Johnson and at times I miss my first boat..

got away
Where the line is tied to a jig or thru T-rig weight I think is the weakest link. The line going thru the eyelet or weight will hit rocks and wood and running your fingers on the line will never tell you if that area has been damaged in anyway.

Netbait Paca craw?

I love power pro line...I flip and pitch with it... Great for throwing spinerbaits I even use it on some spinning gear when I fish stained water lakes.. I have landed some monster pike using this stuff... Best knot I found is a Polamar...
