  1. Had my surgery on friday and the doc said everything went perfect.(even though it don't feel perfect) lol Gonna be a long slow recovery and fishing has been put on the back burner for now. So that means all of you better catch some fish to show me since i have to live through you all for the next month or so. ;D Heres the last bass i got before i went in for surg and also a pic of the nice scar I'm gonna have.
  2. Well it works very good. I finally forced myself to fish a shakeyhead senko, it was a very good day for it. I caught about 60 on it ,no hawgs but anywhere from 4 inches to 16. It seemed to work better than a finesse worm too, I tried the same color finesse worm in the same size an only got a couple bites. Once i put the senko back on they bit again. It was like when you were a kid just slaying the bluegills or something, my best streak was 15 casts with a fish everytime until i lost one. If you haven't tried it yet i suggest you do,I know that I will be fishing it alot more now . Also i used the shakey head with the corkscrew on it, saved me from using a senko every other fish...I could usually get from 10 to 15 fish off one bait, LOTS BETTER lol.
  3. I switch hands also, tried the left hand reeling but I'm too uncoordinated i guess so i go with what works.
  4. My boy LOVES to go fishing (with his little red casting plug thats the shape of a fish). He can sit there all day long, he loosens the drag so it just flies out when he casts lol. he's only 3. I don't take him as much as i should but its a blast when he gets to come with me, as long as i don't forget his drinks an snacks. lol

    Welcome!!
  6. The 13 aluminum was a brand new prop, and it sounded like i was over revving...not sure though as my tach went out last fall. My 14 pitch I was running pretty close to max rpms when my tach worked. So the 13 stainless might be ok?
  7. I am looking at purchasing a stainless prop (first stainless) and i was wondering if when going to a stainless prop if you change the pitch that works for your boat. Right now i have a 14 pitch and the dealer was trying to talk me into a 13 in a stainless, well i tried a buddies aluminum 13 pitch and my boat sucked. So i am wondering if a stainless prop will make any difference at all?? Its a 17 ft fisher with a 40hp.. right now i get 31 gps speed and good holeshot, so i don't want to lose performance because i'm ignorant about stainless props. Thanks in advance
  8. The oil is coming out the real seal, its burnt because it all leaked out and was getting the lower unit hot . Thats what it looks like to me, my 10hp just did the same thing once i got it going. And had it happen on my old 40hp years back as well, just be glad u caught it before damage occurred.
  9. I picked up a couple tonite and didn't take them out of the package til i got home, I'm kinda worried about the tail section ripping off quickly on short strikes? I hope to try them next week when the cold snap breaks!
  10. Good Luck to all and to all a SAFE TRIP!! I want to see them sharelunkers posted on here ;D
  11. I have a older 9.8 merc motor that I just bought and it has no spark, I was just wondering if there was anyone in here that has any diagnosis info for me. I was thinking it was the points or condenser, but at $40 to $50 a crack i am not throwing parts at it. If anyone knows how to test the ignition module or the condenser I would be much appreciated,or if anyone has a book on older 9.8's I would consider paying for some coppied pages. I filed the points and contacts on the stator already. THANKS
  12. If the light is on constant you will be able to drive it until you have time to get it to the shop or get the codes checked. Now if it starts FLASHING you need to get it in right away before it causes major problems. As for the caveliers I've seen alot of them have the light on because of the EVAP system, even though you checked the gas cap they have problems with small leaks on the EVAP canister. I would take it to autozone or somewhere they check the codes for free, a lot of time its a easy fix you can do yourself if you have any mechanical ability. Don't let the light scare ya until you know what it is or is flashing, since its running fine I would say its probably a EVAP code or as others stated a O2 sensor.
  13. Well I will have my surgery on the 10th of april, I had many concerns about this because its a major part of my body. I have 2 disks they are going to take out and fuse, after thinking about this for a month i went back to the doc and talked to him. This is one thing I can't STRESS ENOUGH (write all questions down, EVEN if you think its a dumb question) Then go to your doc and ask everything possible that concerns you, I spent over a hour talking to my doc with piddly questions, BUT i have the right to know. This surgery will put me out of work for ATLEAST 3 months before he will release me, so this was a major concern for me. But its what has to be done, I feel alot better after talking to the doc and having him explain allllllllll the minor details an such. I wish you all the luck in the world with whatever you decide to do, just remember to get as much information as possible when making your decision.
  14. I have awesome luck on the white horney toads, my favorite 2 colors in the horney toads is white and black/with white swirls. I found some junebug colored the other day I'm gonna give them a try i think they will work great as well. Another good color that i don't use enough is the bullfrog color in the Ribbits, I have had Huge blow ups on them but just not as many.
  15. I feel just the opposite, I like the horny toads or ribbets in the slop and have had VERY good results with these. The bronze is better in the pads if the pads are very thick, it can be worked slower and paused in the openings. Just my opinion but either are good baits an love them both.

  20. Yea it was a great way to start out the year...1st fish of the year over 7lbs.... man i gotta get a cheap camera to throw in the boat, don't think the wife would like me taking the digi cam out on the water i've been known to drop electronics in the water. lol dang phones work fine until you take em back OUT of the water
  21. Well i finally made it out today, but the wind didn't want me fishing. The water temp was 46 and the fishing was slowwwwwwwww, i finally managed a few bites and got one over 7 LBS in the boat. So all in all it was a good day, had to fish slow in about 8 FOW with a blue jig-n-pig. The senkos on the shakey head didn't work today too windy to feel anything, I also got some bites on a redshad brushhog. I think its going to pick up soon.
  22. Glad to see some others that think the same way i do...kinda scary though. lol I'll be heading out this week hopefully to give em a try.
  23. welcome Oh and tell me what lake your fishing so i know NOT to go there lol .
  24. Its shaped like a normal transducer and has the bolt hole for a transom bracket, I was just wondering if the function would be different since its designed for the shoot thru?? I would mount it shootthru if my boat wasn't aluminum
