Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
So the gear is in, after doing some more reading. I've spent more than I wanted but ran it by the girlfriend and she was cool (phew). Did some more reading about the Daiwa SV spools (already have a Zillion SV TWS on another rod which I love) and there ability to toss light weight. Read about some rods, and was looking for something incredibly sensitive, and this is what I came up with. Bonus money well spent, all my other combo's are $400 or less. This will be the only exception ever(for the foreseeable future at least). Next investment is a boat. Spooled up with 8lb Seaguar InvizX

Fishing Waders, size and brand?
I'm looking to get a Kayak next season, but I think I want to get some waders for fishing the rivers in my area. I'm 250lb, 5'10" and a size 13 shoe. I was looking on Bass Pro Shops and didn't understand there sizing chart, 7/8/9/10 etc. Unless this is simply shoe size. Anyone recommend a brand?

Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
Looking to get a weightless finesse setup. Curently thinking of pairing a: Curado 70 St. Croix Legend Medium XF 6'10" I'm open to suggestions and not locked into any specific brand. I do like St. Croix rods and Shimano, but I have a few other brand for some setups. My budget is max is currently equipped. Edit: I'll prob be pairing it with 8lb Braid. My goal is max distance as I shore fish.

Split Rings, what to buy to replace bad ones?
Was out fishing today, and landed a solid 4lb on my 90 whopper plopper. Unfortunately he got hooked funny and I had to destroy the split ring to get the hook off him. I'm not sure what size it is, as I haven't had to replace them before. Wouldn't mind a good brand multi size pack, but recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Issue with Palomar knot and copolymer line.
I've got snaps in my tackle box. I've always heard people talk negatively about them so I've never used them. I had this same issue with Power Pro. I will try it today. Thanks for the suggestions. I did manage to get a nice Palomar made up yesterday. Just takes some extra patience where braid is much easier to make up a Palomar. Thanks for all the replies!

Issue with Palomar knot and copolymer line.
I'll have to try the uni. Unfortunately the guides on my rod are super small on the last 3 holes near the tip and not sure if i'd be able to do a leader.

Issue with Palomar knot and copolymer line.
Alright so I haven't done a lot of cranking and I typically use straight braid. I use specifically Palomar knots for everything, and it's worked fine for me. I decided to get a cranking setup and have read that braid isn't the best for cranking so did some looking and decided to try FluoroKote. The issue I am having is tying the palomar the overhand knot falls apart before I am able to pull the loop tight and creates a mess. Now i am wondering if I should just go to 30lb braid, and just adjust my drag accordingly rather than fight with the copolymer. Any thoughts?

Shimano Curado DC
I've got mine setup the same way. I have the tension set light to where there is a little wobble in the spool. Working great but have to thumb the spool before she splashes down.

Deep Cranking rod
Don't know what your budget is, but I've got a 7'2" Medium Mod and 7'4" MH Mod St. Croix Legend glass and they are amazing cranking rods. They make a 7'11" Heavy Mod. They're amazing light and balanced. $250 though so a little pinch on the wallet.

Shimano Curado DC
I managed to get a RH 6.2 and got out with it today. I put it on a MH Fast with some 3/4 lipless. Set it to 2 and tossed it out at least 50-60 yards. I was beside myself. I don’t care for RH though I’ve got a left hand on order. Prob get it next month. Will give this one to my daughter to replace her spinner.

Can a rod prevent a cast from not going far?
Set the brake to 0, set spool tension to lure letting it drop at a good pace. Raised brake to half way.

Can a rod prevent a cast from not going far?
I’m certain I’ve set the reel properly. I’m using 15 pound braid. The rod is rated 3/8 to 1oz. I’ll try loosening the spool tension. I’ve also got a Bass Mojo that’s a fast tip and is great. Though from reading it seems there is no industry standard on power and speed.

Can a rod prevent a cast from not going far?
Gotcha, so going Fast to Moderate provides more bend in the tip and helps with sending a lighter lure further? So should I stick to heavier lures with the fast rod, 1oz area?

Can a rod prevent a cast from not going far?
Usually 1/2oz buzz bait, frogs, 3/4oz texas rig.

Can a rod prevent a cast from not going far?
I picked up a St. Croix Premier casting rod Medium/Heavy Fast. I paired a Daiwa Zillion SV TW to it, and it's just not getting out there. I threw my Revo SX on it and the same problem. The revo is awesome on the Medium fast Ike rod. I'm sorry for the stupid question, but I'm starting to learn to fish again after many years. Thanks for the help!

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Hey all, I just recently joined the forums and have started fishing again after 20 years. Looking to get into it, I use to go with my Step Dad when I was younger. It's the only thing that was good about the guy, but it was memerable. I miss it and have always thought about fishing again so here I am. I live in Peabody, MA and It's honestly been so long that I don't remeber places to go. But if anyone has any recommendations that be great! I don't mind driving up to NH either. I'll be shore fishing mainly for Bass (Fresh Water) as I invest in more tackle and gear,

Hello all, I am from the North Shore in Massachusetts am an Electrician by trade. I literally haven't fished for 20 years, but just decided to jump back into it. I don't remember any of the old fishing spots I use to go to. So I'm starting fresh and learning as I go. I am open to advice of any sort, I've been using YouTube as a resource to learn. I'll be mostly shore fishing to start.
