My St. Croix Story
I said they waived the upgrade fee, not the price difference ?

My St. Croix Story
I agree, and I’ve seen that pdf before. But what I’m talking about was maybe 8oz of weeds and the tip didn’t even bend more than 5 degrees. It’s possible to have a bad blank I assume. It wasn’t my most used rod, my daughter mainly used it on my weekends with her. If fish from shore so I typically drag the fish in a litttle, put my rod down and pick it up. Not one to swing it in as I see in a lot of YouTube vids.

My St. Croix Story
It’s hard to tell what my 11 year old daughter did. But when I looked the top wasn’t bent over in any way that I could see. She was probably 20 ft away from me. She’s always been careful with the gear. She started crying almost right away haha

My St. Croix Story
So I started fishing again this summer, was starting for scratch and I decided to get a spinning rod and reel. I wound up doing some reading and fell upon a St. Croix Mojo Bass 7' MM and a Shimano Stradic Ci4+. One day about a month back me and my daughter were out fishing, and the tip of the rod snapped 3 eyelets down. I was real upset, but I saw what happened and my daughter was just taking maybe a half pound worth of weeds out of the water on her lure to clean them off and it snapped. So I contacted St. Croix, sent them the rod. They called me up after receiving it, I explained what happened. I said to them I was a little weary on getting another Mojo Bass as I was afraid of something similar happening again and thought I should get something stronger if possible, and asked them if I could upgrade. Well being the upstanding company they are, they let me upgrade to a Legend Tournament and even waived the upgrade fee and shipping return. I was super exited, the rod came in today. Just got home from class around 8pm and decided to go outback and fish. Within 5 minutes i stuck this 4.5lb pig, the rod felt so good, responsive. I felt him clamp onto the lure. It's super light as well.

First Impressions: Shimano Curado 150 DC
Excellent Review. I’ve got several myself, there great for letting my daughter and girlfriend use a bait caster with little worry of backlash Just some advice. If you’re not fishing a finesse setup either go with 40lb braid or mono like A-Jay said. Bigger braid is easier to dig out if it backlashes, as well as 40lb being the same diameter as about 15lb mono/fluoro. Also you can set up the DC system to not backlash by tightening the spool tension till the lure drops real slow. You’re going to sacrifice distance but you’ll be able to practice with it and eventually loosen the spool tension till the spool barely moves. Good of luck and have fun!

Replacement tip for St. Croix Triumph
Is the Triumph still within warranty? I just had the tip snap off my Mojo Bass 3 eyelets down when trying to clean some weeds off the lure, took the lure out of the water to swing it over to me and the tip snapped. Was maybe 1lb of weeds as most. Well I sent it off to St. Croix, and they took care of me. Waiving the upgrade cost and return shipping and I grabbed a Legend Tournament. I figured it's the only spinning rod I got so why not. So if it's under warranty maybe try sending it in? See how it goes?

Which of the reels for which of my rods?
That would be personal preference, both speeds would be well suited for jig fishing as your really just dragging and reeling in slack, though when I throw wacky senkos or weightless t rigs, I like to pop and crawl them so a 7.4:1 may be better. But totally up to you. My NRX 852c is on a 7.1:1. Either way enjoy man. Sounds like you've got some fun ahead of you.

Which of the reels for which of my rods?
Shouldn't matter which one you use, both have are SVS with the MGL spools and both will work great for weightless lures.

What is the ideal reel ratio for...
An 8.x:1 should work just fine for jigs as well as frogs. As someone else has stated you’re dragging a jig and reeling in the slack. Let us know what reels ya end up with.

What is the ideal reel ratio for...
Cranking 6.x:1 Frogging 8.x:1 It’s typically easier to slow down your retrieve than it is to speed up.

New guy with question...
My only spinning rod uses a ci4+ 2500. It’s unbelievably light and we’ll built. Would definitely recommend.

What am I doing wrong?ADVICE
Aye, when I can’t get anything to bite on all normal baits I throw weightless to 1/4 finesse stuff. Fish in my area love the 4” Keitech shiners but I’m sure other brands work well. I’ll just use a center pin hook and swim it or work it back slow hoping it across the bottom. Works great weedless. I fish from from the shore only, and I’m always trying to spot cover and drop offs to fish.

Rain and it’s effects on reels?
Great to know all. Thanks

Rain and it’s effects on reels?
Today I decided to do some fishing before work. It was lightly raining almost misty. I know that typically during regular fishing the reel tends to get a little wet, especially when using braid. But today it go fully damp. Should I be worried about this? On another note, how often should I clean and lube my reels? I fish 3-4 times a week, weekends can be half the day sometimes.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Had a good weekend. Fished several places by shore, with my new finesse combo in hand. Caught 4 LMB, 3 Chain Pickerel (One 2LB awesome fight!) Went to several bodies on the North Shore. Wacky Senko, 4" Kaitech T-Rig Weightless. Very successful. I'm now curious to the hook up ratio of a T-Rig vs a Wacky Rig Senko, I felt like I got more curious biting with the Senko, but with more meat than hook I got a better hook up ratio on the T-Rig. My first time getting out finesse fishing with a bait-caster, or anything for that matter haha Tight Lines All

Help! Reel vibration,shimano scorpion
Doesn’t matter. Contact a buyer for a refund and if he refuses file complaint theough PayPal and they’ll make sure you get it back. It’s not worth dealing with a broken item. Why I won’t buy used.

Palomar knot failing
I’ve never spit on my palomar, I leave my tag end log and grab it with pliers and pull the main line to make sure the knot sits right. Then cut the tag end to about 1/4”.
