  1. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! ?
  2. thanks for clearing that up everyone! ?
  3. Yes, I wasn't looking at anything less than 50lb braid. So the "Recommended" braid/yds is just a suggestion and I can effectively run 65lb, just at less yardage than advertised essentially.
  4. Quick question for everyone... Even though a baitcaster is rated for max # test/yds, can we go above that test wise? Like if a reel is rated for max 30lb braid, can you still put 50 or 65lb on there? I am in the market to get a heavy cover rod/reel and was thinking of going with a 7'4 Lews Heavy rod and a Lews reel that is only rated for 30lb braid. I wanted to use 65lb braid on it. Lews TLW1SH is what I was thinking of using. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
  5. Ive recently started as well and have been trying the different lures to learn them, but only depending on conditions. Only been using topwaters, spinnerbait, crankbaits, jigs, etc. My only catches have come from a T-rigged Zoom trick worm on a spinning rod... and only one on my baitcaster on a Optimum Bait Co swimbait from MTB. Go figure lol.
  6. just started bass fishing at the beginning of the summer but my fish have only come on texas rigged zoom trick worms in black. Got some senko's and going to try them out wacky rigged and see how it goes
  7. We will be lucky if it starts cooling down around early October here in Texas Excited for the fall, summer bite has been super tough around here
  8. Helllooo from SE Houston. Mainly bass fishing from the banks, searching for recommendations and just reading up on different techniques. Lots of info on here to keep me busy lol.
  9. Hi Everyone, new here ? Just started fishing for bass right at the beginning of the summer(if you can't get fish during the hardest time of the year then why bother, that and I guess I'm glutton for punishment lol) and was looking for recommendations for bank fishing in and around SE Houston. I've already tried Tom Bass, but only once....got a nibble but that's about it, but I want to go back when it cools down just a bit to see if I can land a good one. I heard and read this is heavily pressured? Are there any even left in there!?! I've also hit up Centennial Lake Park, caught a 1lber. wOOt! Hit up Challenger 7 Park and caught a dink during heavily pressured time. There was 8 other anglers out there with me and I was the only one that caught one Looking for any good spots that are known to have bigger bass and still accessible from the banks. Thanks in advance!
