  1. It has been muddy every time I have gone back there.
  2. My in-laws home has a creek at the back of the property line. My son and I have tried fishing it a few times with no luck and we were hoping maybe you all would have some pointers in searching to see if there are some catchable fish. The creek is like chocolate milk and has a pretty good current. Depth changes with the amount of rain in the area. We have pulled some crawfish out of it and have found some bluegill fry recently. The creek runs between two small lakes. So I have tried a few lures, worms, creature baits, etc with no success. I am thinking of throwing a small drop shot to see if there are any decent panfish in there. Not looking to break records, but given the location it would be fun to can anything out of there. Thanks all.
  3. Welcome to the forum!
  4. Eat it, you'll be fine...
  5. No, but half of my arsenal is spinning gear. My other rod is a baitcaster.
  6. Moonpies.
  7. Pretty sure Ike's Fish My City is going to have a San Antonio episode. Be interested if you see some more anglers on the waters after it airs.
  8. I got suckered into it. Eh...I'll try some new stuff for $12.
  9. Mine are a buzz bait, spinner, and senkos, wacky and texas rigged. These are my, "are there fish?" go tos, then I can come back with more tackle the next trip.
  10. I really want to like a bison burger, but I have not found one that beats out good beef. Seems like most are overdone and dry. I guess I am a ground chuck man. Anyone go to Ray's Hellburger when it existed? Best burger of my life.
  11. Wait, what color senko? Asking for a friend.
  12. Buddy, I hope you see that you cancelled yourself out here. I think it goes, "There are all kinds of folks, some who fish off the boat, some who fish off the bank, some who fish lakes, some who fish retention ponds..." But, they are all fishing. In Houston, we have concrete bayous throughout the city, and you can actually catch bass in them. I can't, but there are some anglers that can even pull them on a dry fly. There is a retention pond near the bayou about 5 minutes from me that is pretty fun to try new lures on and is where I go to build my confidence on those lures. If someone is bragging about their ability over someone else, I think that speaks more their own insecurities. If he is just giving you a hard time, you are probably letting him. Congratulate him and do your own thing. Personally I would like to be able to pull a fish out of any body of water I try, be it river, creek, retention pond, man made lake, etc. If a Senko helps me do it, fine. Nothing wrong with using what works. But I am also not one to buy stuff to buy stuff. That's my two cents.
  13. I pretty much learned watching a couple fluke master videos on YouTube, then spending a morning just practicing. I am not great or accurate, but I am down to two bird nests a trip and it doesn't take me more thank 5 minutes to pick out and get going again. Good luck!
  14. Moonpies.
  15. The only thing that sticks out to me which you might need are jigs. You have maybe 2-3x more stuff than I do from that list.
  16. 2/3 = .66 = 10/15 3/5 = .60 = 9/15 Minus any atoms that may have been lost from use.
  17. There are were a few on eBay at about the $10 price so long as the bids didn't go up. Looked as real as can be on the screen with the names on the lures and such. Still pretty pricey.
  18. Welcome! I'll actually be there later this week. Not sure I am going to get to fish though. Much luck!!
  19. Might try darker colors in low visibility waters, black, black and blue, etc. Spinnerbait and Buzzbait still doing well in Houston. Both white. Good luck!
  20. Just started recently so all I can do is bank fish. Have had good luck on a white spinnerbait, a white buzz bait, and, my favorite once I figured it out, a wacky rigged senko. Lost the worm on this guy. Until recently I was just using a daiwa 2500 on a 2 piece ugly stik. Just picked up a check Ultramax combo so pretty much doubles the gear I have to carry.
