Bass Attractant
I’ve been through a couple of bottles of JJ’s over the years, but I think I’m done with it. You can’t tell if it’s making any difference for sure, but I know for sure it stinks up the place and the time spent dipping could be time spent dipping my bait in the water.

Show Off Your Work!
@BASS302 I can't imagine why anyone would want a combination of the two, but then I see all kinds of weird stuff coming out that I could never have imagined a need for. With the right marketing, some people will buy anything. I was thinking Chinnerbait, or maybe Spatterbait 😄 I tweaked it a little bit and got it running well, now I'll put it away until fish start biting around here and then give it another try. It seems like there's too much going on with the two blades to me, but I'll let the fish decide. If I catch one with it, it'll be good for a laugh.

That would not be fun to unhook.

Show Off Your Work!
Believe it or not, my spinnerbait/chatterbait contraption worked. Before testing it out, I added a 3/16 oz pinch-on sinker to the hook (it was a 1/4 oz $1 Walmart special before adding the extra weight) and I spread out the gap in the wire so the chatterbait blade could rotate the same amount as a factory chatterbait. At first it was hard to tell if both blades were working because my water visibility is very low right now. I could feel a good strong thump though, so I took off the Colorado blade and then I could tell the chatterbait blade was definitely working. The chatterbait blade worked much better without the Colorado blade, so maybe a willow blade or smaller Colorado would work better. Also before I took off the Colorado blade it felt like sometimes the chatterbait blade wasn’t working when the speed was too low. Without the Colorado, the chatterbait turned even at very low speeds. I doubt I’ll carry this experiment any further. I just wanted to see if the concept would work. It might be worth exploring for those of you that make and sell your stuff. I’m kind of surprised nobody has done it before, it was so easy.

Advantages of a shorter rod?
Ah yeah, I guess that would reduce the torsion, but would it really be less guides?

Is there a way to search within your own profile for a word/phrase?
Ah. I see that now at the top. I didn't see it before, I was looking at all the options below that. And it looks like I haven't talked about it before, but I sure have talked about spinnerbaits a lot 😄

Advantages of a shorter rod?
Cool! But ...why?

Is there a way to search within your own profile for a word/phrase?
Well that gets it down to 47 pages I would need to look through, so I guess that's an improvement, but I was hoping for something a little easier.

I’m having deja vu about something. I think I may have tried to make a “spinnerbait/chatterbait” combination before, and talked about it here somewhere, but a search for that phrase brings up 91 pages of results. Is there some way to search only the comments I have made?

Jitterbug
I guess by definition that's true, but I imagine every wake bait has been worked on the surface at least some of the time.

Advantages of a shorter rod?
All things being equal, they're lighter. Walking through thick woods, brush and vines is much easier. Casting along the banks of a creek or river where you've barely got room to cast through all the growth. I like walking baits with my rod pointed down, and shorter rods make that less awkward. Actually, popping too, and flukes sometimes. I keep my rod tip down a lot. We all want maximum casting distance though. We've got to reach that magic spot that's just out of our reach. The fact is, you're probably better off not casting so far. You're wasting a lot of time. All that said, I haven't fished with something under 6-6 for a few months, nothing under 6 in probably over 10 years. But it's because I don't have a good quality short rod.

I think you're right, the blade will probably hit the bottom part of the wire. And even if it doesn't, I don't know kind of weight or drag it would need for both blades to work. I don't have much hope for it, but I'll throw it and see what happens. Please do!

I don't see how that would do much. I can't imagine it being anything like a chatterbait. Seems like it would just rattle around a little. I looked for an underwater video but didn't find one. I rigged this up in about 5 minutes after reading your comment just to see what it would look like. I wonder if it would work... I hope I'm not about to start down a rabbit hole with this...

Jitterbug
A jitterbug can skitter across the surface of the water, like a spider running on the surface, or some other insect flying just above the surface, touching the water. It's not like a wake bait that swims IN the water, although if you work a jitterbug slowly enough, it kind of swims like a wake bait, and yes it will wobble a lot. A wake bait is just a vertical lip. I don't think there are any special shapes that make it wobble more. Something like a Jackall Mikey, that is jointed, will appear to have the most wobble. Some jitterbugs are jointed too. Not all walking baits have an open mouth. The ones that do have an open mouth are to make it "pop", or make it appear the lure is a small fish biting at something on the surface, when the lure is jerked sporadically. Some walking baits can go up to a couple feet side to side when worked by someone with experience. A wake bait doesn't really travel side to side like a walking bait. A wake bait travels in a straight line, but the tail of the lure swings. You need to spend some time on youtube.

Revros reel handle lubrication
Thanks! The chrome piece popped off easily, that was the main thing I was concerned about. There's no screw on the Revros, so I don't know if it just snaps on or what, but it doesn't matter, I can oil it with the chrome piece off, and that's all I need.

The Found Lures Thread
Anybody know what this is? Some kind of A-rig? It's about 16" long, has a one ounce sinker and a closed loop towards the middle, with a snap swivel at one end. I assume the end with the weight is broken off?

Revros reel handle lubrication
Are you supposed to oil through that tiny hole or does it come apart? I've tried to open up similar type reel handles to oil and ended up ruining the handle, so I don't want to experiment.

Tiny crankbait
Sometimes those little ones will surprise you. I was throwing one the other day that was 1/4oz and 1.75" on a MF 7' spinning with 10# braid. With the wind to my back that little thing would fly a mile. Casting into a strong wind was a struggle, but doable. Sometimes it's not as much the size and weight as the aerodynamics.

Did Ozark Trail stop making lures?
Since Toby Keith bought Luck-e-Strike, I wouldn't be surprised if Ozark Trail eventually went away.

Cicada Apocalypse
I've never seen one, but in the video it looked like you pull the string, it starts vibrating, then you quickly cast it and hope it's still vibrating by the time it hits the water. It would make more sense if you could tie onto the loop at the end of the string, so that when you jerk the bait, you would be pulling the string, so it would vibrate more than just the first few seconds.

The Found Lures Thread
Here’s some that I’ve found over the past few months. I’m not finding as many good ones as I used to for some reason, but there a few decent ones in here.

Cicada Apocalypse
Go to the 2 minute mark to hear the sound. That's exactly what a cicada in the water sounds like.

Cicada Apocalypse
We had an event here a few years ago and I saw one cicada land in the water right in front of me. It was like an electric vibrator in the water, making a lot of noise and sending ripples out from it. I've never seen any lure come close to the amount of action that thing had, but it sat there in the water struggling for a long time and never got bit. I also had a cicada zoom into my head and get caught in my hair. That was memorable. It'll wake you up better than a cup of coffee.

The latest sale thread
I've bought a Daiwa rod and reel from TW at 20% off. The reel was just a few weeks ago and was clearance priced in addition to the 20%. The rod was last year. So it's not like they never discount Daiwa. Edit: And in both cases it showed the discount in the cart, but it appears that is not the case in this sale. In another thread they are saying the discount only shows up in the confirmation email.

Wall mounting a rod
A few screw hooks would do it. One in the bail arm, and one to support the rod tip. Put another one in the middle for a bend. That would allow you to take the rod down occasionally for dusting/cleaning.
