That is some very neat tradition and thank you for sharing. Maybe sharing this piece with you folks on here is a way of breaking it in right? My knowledge of Eastern tradition is extremely limited but I find it very interesting. Thank you again for your post.

I love Bass Resource. It's a great spot to talk tackle, learn new techniques, meet new folks and I have to give a shout out to oldschoolbasser and his AMAZING work on building me a custom Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4500CDL. He and I have spoken through this forum randomly through posts over the years, but after getting in touch with him and many calls/texts, he has become a good friend and yet another source of knowledge in the bass fishing world. His knowledge/understanding of parts, building, old school tackle, all combined with new school stuff/ideas is really amazing...as are the countless reels he has made, uses, and continuously customizes. This has been a project we have talked about and he knows my level of being a perfectionist (which he will admit he finds funny) but I have to share this build with everyone on here because it truly is an amazing reel. All parts are Simon Shimomura parts and/or stock Abu parts and the frame, sideplates, all gold accents, handle, decals, etc. were made by Simon. These parts are no longer really available and only a few people have access to the remaining ones. The sideplates are sort of an aquamarine/teal/turquoise depending on the light with the 4500CDL decal, the frame is individually numbered, topped off with a 100mm gold handle with pearl knobs, gold line guide, star wheel, cast control knobs, gold accent parts/screws, etc., and a black CDL spool. The pictures don't even do the reel justice and I just wanted to share it on here, thank oldschoolbasser, and wish everyone best wishes on the water!

What rod is that? I love that grip...reminds me of an updated Tennessee handle!

Did you get your Gen4 Premier? I ordered mine and four days later they canceled it and said it was out of stock. I thought I was one of the first to order that reel on Black Friday (put 10 in my cart to check inventory and it said fine so I deducted to one but it never shipped. Instead I got their email as mentioned.

Well, BPS/Cabela's just emailed me saying my Revo Premier ordered a few days ago was canceled. Out of curiousity when I ordered I added 10 to my cart and it could fulfill that order at the time. I obviously only ordered one but what the heck!

The taper of the rod is ideal for reaction style baits. I love throwing a 3/8-1/2oz. chatterbait on it. I also throw a 75/90/110 Whopper Plopper and it works amazing. Throws a spinnerbait a mile and has just enough forgiveness for graphite without the weight and whip of glass. I have thrown small swimbaits with it, cranks, etc. It is very versatile and I love the short full grip back handle. It's a 7'4" rod that fishes like a 6'10".

Get that 7'4"! I love that rod! It is the best chatterbait rod you can buy for the price!

How many did they make of the 4500CS Pro Rocket Champagne Gold? Mine has the flat knobs not the round ones (I think the gold came with flat ones originally) but I have a few beautiful Simon handles I could add too! I did luck out and get a 5500 Champagne Gold on the bay for under $200 shipped. It has some wear but it is a REALLY RARE reel. Foot number 770200.

The two CS I do...the Gold CS Pro Rocket I have not used.

I have a 4500CS and a 5500CS as well as a rare Champagne Gold 4500CS Pro Rocket. They are great reels. I love my high end tackle (Daiwa, Shimano, Megabass) but I do love classic Abu Garcia Ambassadeur reels too.

How much are 1500C reels going for now? I have been looking for one recently...$200 for a nice one is that an okay price? Thanks! I have been collecting Abu reels lately. Picked up a some rare colored 5500 reels, have some Iovino reels I had made, and nabbed a 1500C.

Loving this lately: Megabass Levante Gen2 Perfect Pitch Daiwa Tatula Elite 100HS Daiwa J-Braid Grand 40lb Grey Might try the reel on my Daiwa Steez AGS Bottom Contact rod and see how that feels! Anyone use one on that rod? And I really like the Grand line...very soft and casts terrific!

I have an Abu Garcia UC4600C that is mint aside from the fact that instead of no handle play, the handle reels backwards! Is this a simple fix with a new anti-reverse bearing? If so, what part number do I need and how easy is it to slide that bearing out? Please let me know any advice that you have. Thank you and best wishes on the water!

I have a few custom Ambassadeur reels built by Don Iovino as well as some custom Ambassadeur parts by Simon Shimomura. Does anyone else build custom Abu reels that anyone would recommend? Looking for a classic style build (pre 1981). I know there was someone on here a few years ago that built them but I forget their name. Thanks and best wishes on the water!

I recently acquired a Garcia Conolon Three Star (3-Star) 5' "Stiff Action" casting rod that is truly MINT! Any idea when this was made? It's a fiberglass rod and looks great with an old school Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000! Thanks and best wishes on the water!

Going old school on this one. Abu Ambassadeur 5000 with a Garcia Conolon 5’ Three Star. Great little setup. Looks almost new! And this SUPER RARE gem! Abu Ambassadeur 5500 Champagne Gold. Reel foot 770200.

There are some nice deals on the big auction site with some old school Daiwa stuff. I may or may not have an inside scoop on some of these!
