I was out fishing yesterday and lost two on crankbaits. I have two middle of the road crankbaits…just curious why people upgrade to ultra high end cranking rods. Do you feel the bite a split second faster? I’m just wondering if anyone who has upgraded has had an increase in landing percentage. I am all about nrx for spinning and bottom contact…but never really understand the need for cranking.. Im sure those fish coming off wasn’t the rods fault…wasn’t trying to imply that. Just got me thinking since i didn’t feel the bite on either of those…so my reaction time wasn’t real good. I would love to learn more (tho make bank account may not ha) Thank you!

So took the 873 out yesterday with a 3/8 jig and trailer (totaled 5/8) and then also put a 5/16 finesse jig with trailer (totaled 3/8) on the x-bites…wow those are two awesome rods! I definitely had fished too heavy a jig with the x-bites…feels much better with a little less weight. Thank you all for the recommendations! .

There's a local tackle shop near me that has the nrx older model 842c mbr...owner said he would make me a good deal. Been hard to pass up...what do you think? What techniques do you use it for? Thanks everyone

Ugh…just got back from my local tackle store…the only nrx they had was an 854 but while I was in there, he got an 894 in the mail. Offered me a pretty good discount lol…so hold off for the 873? tough decisions

Thank you! I hate having to make rod selection decisions while out fishing so that’s why I have specific rods for specific techniques. If I had all of your rods, I would go crazy lol so many amazing rods! thank you for the great response! Have you ever tried any poison adrena rods? for virgin contact? Anyone?

Have you had a chance to compare it to an nrx? I’ve heard good things about the imx! Was looking to pick one up soon

So if you were going to throw 1/2-3/4 with trailer…which would you get? anyone else have any thoughts? anyone have the poison adrenaline 7’4H? I’ve read several reviews about the 7’2 and how it’s super sensitive. Obviously it’s prob not on same level as nrx but sounds like pretty close. But not sure about big football jigs. Thanks

Nice! Yeh, I'm leaning towards the 873c or the 894c. Any clue how they compare? I was thinking the 894c but would love a little shorter rod I think...and I've heard great things about the 873c. I just didn't know if it was stout enough to handle the 1/2jig with a trailer. I have an x-bites which I will use for finesse -3/8 football jigs. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Cool thanks! Yeh I have an xh steez and while it doesn’t have the best sensitivity, it’s a great pitching rod. I’ve heard the 904 is a good bottom contact rod. it’s a little long for what I prefer. has anyone tried a 5 power? Eg 895…just wonder if a 5 power would be better for larger jigs…or is 4 enough?

I have a good rod for 3/8 football jigs, but when I have a 1/2oz football jig with a trailer, it loses a little of its sensitivity. So looking for a little stouter rod but with maximum sensitivity. Would love to hear about the nrx line, but would also like to hear. about steez, megabass...any other high end rods. Thanks

I’m still struggling to get a good grasp on livescope…I still find myself just putting it away and going to the bank. What sources have you found that really helped you dial in livescope? Or if there’s any specific thing that helped you. Be specific (eg youtube channel…) I really want to learn it better but right now my confidence isn’t high. Part of the problem is having it on my trolling motor and battling spotlock, wind and livescope. thanks

A lot of really cool rods! I’m surprised at how many favorite rods are not “mainstream” brands…that’s really cool! I would have thought this would be full of nrx, steez, megabass p5… so it’s cool to hear others!

Just curious what is the one rod you absolutely love? Right now, mine would be my nrx 803. It's my ned rod and just has great sensitivity and balance

Ha thank you all! I sent a pic to my dealer and they said it was the correct transducer orientation...but I called Garmin and the support guy told me it was wrong and got it working properly. Thank you all for the advice...you were correct! Is it important to calibrate it? Or is that just done when it's installed?
