Jerkbait/Topwater Rod recommendations St Croix?
Ok great. Sounds like I should get the 6'8 MXF. Now I just need to decide between avid and avid x. I assume I'll be running braid to leader. Should I just go with the regular avid so not to have issues with the knot/microguides? Or is there a good reason to go with the avid x? Thanks

Jerkbait/Topwater Rod recommendations St Croix?
Awesome. Mind sharing why you think that? For topwater as well? I assume that wouldn’t work for frogs. Also mind sharing why avid x over regular avid? Sorry for all the questions

Jerkbait/Topwater Rod recommendations St Croix?
Hey everyone, I have a credit with St Croix. The only real hole I have in my lineup is a decent Jerkbait rod. I was trying to think what else I could use the rod for since I won't always be throwing a jerkbait. Can anyone recommend a good jerkbait rod from St. Croix? I'm thinking the 6'8" MXF either in the avid x or avid line. Anyone know what else that rod would be really good for? I know this is unorthodox but I like a shorter frog rod. I think a frog rod and a jerkbait rod are on different ends of the power/action spectrum but wanted to get your thougths. Could I do like a MHF 6'8 for both? Thanks everyone!

How do you choose which finesse presentation to use
Thanks for the tips! So that's my main question, when the bite gets tough, how do you decide what to use? Let's say I have three spinning rods(ned, drop shot, and senko) setup on my deck...which do you choose and why? And what does it take for the bite to be "tough"? I know alot of this is gut feeling, but just trying to get a better sense of how you guys that are much better than me, handle these situations. Just trying to learn. Thanks again!

Shimano Ci4+ vs Daiwa LT spinning reel
That’s interesting. Yes I have heard good things about the fl. Has anyone compared these three? I have the CI4+ and really like it. But haven’t really thought about balance. Thanks

How do you choose which finesse presentation to use
Great idea. Unfortunately, I have three small kids and so I don’t get to go but once a month or so. And even then, it’s for 3-5 hours. So I’m usually power fishing most of the time. It’s when I’ve fished for 2-3 hours and haven’t even got a bite, is when I switch to finesse. And that’s when I’m a little overwhelmed with the options. I feel I’ve got a lot better grasp on when/why for power fishing lures. Was just hoping to get some tips on what criteria you use to choose which finesse lure. I figured there was a list like you gave; would anyone mind maybe sharing each finesse bait and how it works better in certain conditions (ie windy, time of day, water temp...). Just maybe share some thought processes in determining a lure. I will start keeping a log but unfortunately I just don fish enough right now where I can develop a pattern. Thanks again!

How do you choose which finesse presentation to use
So when the bite slows down and you decide to switch to a finesse presentation, how do you choose which direction to go with? I am referring to dropshot, ned rig, shakyhead, senko wacky rig, carolina rig (not real finesse but sorta similar). I think I know the answer most will give but just wanted to hear what you guys think. I’m still new to this and this has come up in my mind several times. I feel as though as of these rigs are really good options and there’s tons of videos online showing they can all catch big fish deep and shallow, but how do you choose which one? What are the circumstances you use to choose which finesse lure? Than you for your help!

What is your rod/reel setups?
Just reading back through this thread. Would you mind sharing what you carry with you on the boat (rods/reels) and what you use them for? I would appreciate it. Thanks A-jay!

Best spinning rod under $500...expride, g. loomis...
So if given the choice between a new Expride 7' Medium spinning or a demo GLX 852S JWR in perfect shape, which would you choose? Price would be the same (pretty much). Open to anyone's thoughts. Thanks

Best spinning rod under $500...expride, g. loomis...
Thank you!! Ever compared those with a megabass whipsnake? Just wondering if the whipsnake and extrude are about the same level, and then a glx is better. Thanks!

Best spinning rod under $500...expride, g. loomis...
Oh I Know, but I like to have stuff pre-rigged so I don't need to waste time setting it up when I could be fishing. I can get the 852 for around $300. But I'm also thinking of an expride...any compare these two? thanks

Best spinning rod under $500...expride, g. loomis...
Ok so I'm bumping up my budget a little bit ha. I think I'm just going to buy one super sensitive spinning rod for my main, and then use my St Croix Premier as my back up spinning. So I'm thinking either the expride 7' Medium...or the g. loomis glx 852. Any thoughts? I'm thinking of using this rod as my main ned rig, shakyhead, senko rod. And I'll use my st croix premier ps70mr2 for drop shot. Thoughts?

New Stradic FL
Yeh I read that. Anyone compare the new fl to the current Ci4+? I need a reel now and don’t really want to wait on a possible reel coming. I’ve heard the new one could be this year or next thanks!

Anyone have a chance to compare these fl's with the Ci4+? Was planning to get another Ci4+ but these seem to have really good reviews. Any thoughts?

megabass 110 vs 110+1 need both?
Ok thanks! Thinking of getting all three in sexy shad...dumb idea? I guess since I've caught several lately on the 110+1 sexy shad...I have a lot of confidence in it. color recommendations? I don't really want to buy more than 3 right now...spending $75 (even though I can afford it) on three lures...is a lot. Not to mention I'm planning to buy a reel and rod soon as well. I try to keep a low profile with the wife...for the most part ha

What makes a good (sensative) rod/blank? What's the difference between $100 rod and $800 rod
Thank you all! Got a st croix premier spinning rod and it weights 5oz. Got a Major Craft spinning rod and it weights 2.8oz. The st croix is quite a bit more in price. I’m going to try to test them thoroughly soon. Both are pretty close to exact same spec.

Anyone use straight braid for everything?
Well I used straight braid this past weekend on my 110+1 jerkbait and it did pretty well. Then retied halfway through the day with fluoro leader (8ft) and I was amazed...I started getting leaves stuck to the hooks when I retrieved. Pretty sure the fluoro was allowing it to get another foot or two deeper. Caught fish on both though.

megabass 110 vs 110+1 need both?

megabass 110 vs 110+1 need both?
Thanks! I didn’t realize there were two sexy shad colors. Which did you go with? Megabass sexy shad or gp sexy shad? And I assume you just use the 110 most of the year and then use the 110+1 when temps fall? Thanks teh I guess what I was thinking is, can you work the 110+1 in a way (not reel down to depth) so that it stays at the level of a 110? When you cast, if you don’t reel down and just start working the bait...will it stay at that 3-5 ft range? Or will it always go deeper? sounds like I need to get both...but I was just checking to see what y’all thought. That 110+1 has been on fire for me too
