  1. I'm surprised how few spinnerbait recommendations...too cold?
  2. Online? Have a link? Where I am looking it still shows full price
  3. I’m not real familiar with zero lines card. Can you tell me what that is? thanks ajay for video!!
  4. Yes I need to do that. Greensboro, NC area. yeh sqarebill is a great option.
  5. Hey everyone, I’m sure this is a simple question but figured i would just run it by y’all. I have two helix 7 gen 3 units on my boat with chirp/mega.... I’m headed to a small lake that has no maps that I am aware of. What’s the best way to record all the topography and structure so that I can use it for later fishing endeavors? Should I record with both or just one? Thanks everyone for the tips!
  6. I am going to try to fish a small lake near me in the next couple days. I can’t seem to find a good map of this lake anywhere. I’ve asked the marina and local tackle shops with no luck. And of course it is t on lakemaster. So I’m planning to try to cover watdr and use my humminbird to map the lake. I’ll have to look up how to do this. But while I am motoring around the lake (can only use trolling motor on the lake) I would like the throw something that covers water pretty well. The water temp is 46 right now with pretty stained water (1-2 ft visibility). Weather is mid 40s today but when i plan to go it will be sunny and low 60s. So what would you use this time of year to keep the speed up (since primary objective is to map the lake) while at the same time, give myself the best chance to catch biggin. I’m thinking a chartreuse and white 3/8 double willow spinnerbait. But also have a spro rockcrawler craw tied on, and am thinking about a 2.8 keitech swimbait on a flashy hook, A square I’ll, or a chatterbait. So what would you throw? Thanks
  7. Does water temp affect your choice? For example, right now around our area, water temps are in low 40s...I know a lot stay deep but sometimes the days warm up a little and I like to hit shallower areas/points. In that case, do you still go with the same as when temps are higher? Or does one of these three shine better during cooler temps? Again, just looking at these three baits...I know there are other good winter baits. Thanks!!
  8. very cool! Thank you all. For those using spinnerbait, do most of you use a trailer hook? I know that makes it a little less weedless though
  9. You are right, but it would be nice to see those ledges/points when going along bank hitting docks and points. But mostly it's only needed on console. Thanks
  10. Yeh I am looking at getting one now. Do you really need the 2000? I see where the 1000 ($99) will start a v8...just wondering if it would be overkill to have the 2000. Thanks
  11. Ok thanks! I’ll check them out. Any other thoughts?
  12. Thanks everyone! I must say I’m a little surprised. A lot of the YouTube guys seem pretty obsessed with squarebills, then chatterbaits, and finally spinnerbaits. Seems you hardly ever hear anyone talk about spinnerbaits much. I do love them too...I love anything that doesn’t get hung up ha. I guess I’ll have all of these tied on...but then you throw in swim jig as well... some great baits!
  13. Well they do have electrical...I just have to be present for it to be plugged in. It just isn’t feasible for me to be there the entire time though. I might give one of these portable chargers a try and see how it does. Also buying that noco you recommended! Thanks for the advice!
  14. Unfortunately that’s the only storage unit in the area. I’m working on getting some access to electricity but in the meantime I’ll have to try to find a charger that will work. I did speak with zero goal and they said that their 1000 or 3000 unit would charge the batteries. But unfortunately that’s the cost of those as well ($1000-3000).
  15. This thread is killing my bank account lol
  16. Yes, I definitely am getting a routine/checklist setup...great idea! So do you have a charger on your trolling motor batteries as well as your crank battery? I have a dual bank charger for my TM batteries but nothing on my crank battery. It looks like everyone is recommending getting a charger on my crank battery as well, correct? So if I got a charger, I need to figure out a way to charge it since I don't have access to a regular 120vac plug. Is there any way, other than a generator, to charge these without a 120vac plugin? (ie solar, battery backup...) . Sorry if these are dumb questions...this is all new to me and electrical issues are not my forte. I can have a crank charger installed (might even install another crank battery and a dual charger) but I still have the issue of no electricity at my storage unit. Any thoughts? Could I use something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Battery-Rechargeable-Starter-Outdoors/dp/B01MA4YVNP/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1511056175&sr=8-3&keywords=chafon&dpID=41wbW6ELDyL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&linkCode=sl1&tag=l08722-20&linkId=5140f54040bc975d6c0f64b4a5978d24
  17. Here is what I have: two 27 deep cycle batteries for the trolling motor with a 12 amp battery charger. what’s a way to charge it? Thanks!
  18. Jerkbait is a given. I’m just talking about these three right now... I have a separate rod for a jerkBait Mind sharing why? Thanks
  19. Ok thank you. Anyone know if there has been any improvements in solar power to use to charge my trolling motors while in storage? I found a few threads a few years old about it but sounded like at that time there weren’t simple panels strong enough to do the job. Any thoughts? Just looking for ideas to power my batteries while in storage.
  20. Would love to do that if I kept my boat at home, but I don’t and they (storage unit) don’t allow connecting your battery to an outlet without being present. that being said, is it possible to use a charger like the one A-jay recommended to connect a trickle charger and my trolling motor batteries to, to top them off and leave it sitting in the boat while in storage? Does that make any sense?
  21. Just curious what your go to is for hitting the shallows. I know each has certain conditions it’s better at, but what’s your go to and why. I personally have a tough time choosing between these three; they are so much fun to throw.
  22. Yeh I was just wondering if there were certain things you turned off/on that you really liked. Also, what color you find best and ranges you use for views and how you utilize them. also, is it possible to hardwire them together?
  23. Thanks!! Great advice! Unfortunately I have to keep my boat at a storage unit so I can’t keep it plugged in. But I’ll definitely pick that charger up. Which unit did you go with? 2000amps?
  24. I went out to my boat the other day, to find that I had accidentally forgot to turn the main power switch off. So my battery was dead. Long story short, I had to bring the battery home and put it on a trickle charger. It got me thinking though, what’s the best way to prevent this and what can I do to create a backup plan if it does happen? So can you share with me how you protect against a dead battery? Also, do you carry a portable charger or something with you as a backup plan? Thanks for the help!
