  1. Hey guys, heading to a smallmouth lake this week. This past week water temp was 60. So I assume they will still be spawning. During this time, what have you found to be the most productive pattern? Do you go after pre and post spawn? Bed fish? Just trying to get a game plan. Most of my fishing will be at dawn and first hour or two. But then I’ll also fish some during the day. Thanks everyone!
  2. What do you use it for? Thanks for the help Yeh would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks
  3. Flukes and light swim baits is a good idea. I have two other spinning rods that are more “high end” that I assumed I would use for more sensitivity requiring techniques...not sure how the avid x will be on sensitivity.
  4. Just bought a St Croix Avid X 6'10 MXF spinning rod on a whim...for really light jerkbaits. Wondering what else this rod will be really good for. Any thoughts?
  5. Wow thank you for the great review! That really helps! What do you use your zodias 6'10MH for? Like it?
  6. In this video, he talks about tightening down is the most important step. Is he only pulling the main line fluoro and main line braid? It seems when I do this, most of the time the fluoro slides right through instead of biting down. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
  7. Same price...close at least...so anyone compare these two? Would love to hear your thoughts. I have both Megabass orochi and exprides...but thought I would look at the next level down for a basic 7'MH moving bait rod. Thanks
  8. Have you ever used your 7'2 glass for a spinnerbait rod? I was thinking of picking that up for a chatterbait...thought maybe it could do both
  9. gotcha! Would you go for the 6'8 again? (for spinnerbait)
  10. Thanks! That's a big help. Mind if I ask why you got rid of the 6'8 expride? What made you choose to use the zodias for your spinnerbait? Thanks again and any other thoughts are welcome!
  11. Wow! Pretty nice lineup! Would you mind sharing what you primarily use each for?
  12. Thanks! Which expride and zodias do you use?
  13. Can you try to expound on “feel”? I haven’t been able to fish a zodias yet...what is it about the exprides you like better? Do you think I will notice much difference in moving baits? I currently use a 7’ lews tp mh. Thanks
  14. Hey looking to get a versatile spinnerbait rod. I have a few exprides and they are truly impressive. I’m looking for a shorter spinnerbait rod. So I’m looking at the 6’8” expride mh or the 6’10” zodias mh. Any thoughts? Also might use it for topwater and chatterbait. Is the extra cost worth it? I like the shorter rod for accuracy. Thanks
  15. nm...I was thinking sportsman's warehouse...sorry about that. continue on
  16. Quick question. What makes a good chatterbait rod and what other baits do you use it for? Thanks!
  17. Thank you! Yeh, sorry...poor wording on my part. I meant, what's the temp range, or other criteria, that causes you to transition to more slow moving baits?
  18. Is there a certain water temp where you switch from faster moving baits to slower moving (jerkbait, blade bait, jig...)?
  19. Has anyone compared he 2020 mgl with the metanium dc? Which do you prefer?
  20. I'm just wanting to see if I can find a better family fish and ski. I'm wanting a boat that's 80% fish and 20% family boat. I currently have a Robalo 206s which is a fantastic boat but it's a little heavy for bass fishing. It's not bad but just thinking about finding something lighter and more maneuverable. Thanks
  21. Thank you all. I guess I was a little vague and need to be more specific. I understand the difference between cheap and nice. My question is for those who have used the new tatula sv, a shimano curado dc, or even slx dc...and then went to a steez or metanium...was it worth the jump in price. Another words: $300 reel vs $500-600. I know an NRX is the benchmark for sensitivity in rods and that’s why they can command such a price. What sets these $500-600 reels apart from the $300-400 ones?
  22. I don't have access to high end reels...I have to purchase them. And I'm not real big on trying it and returning it. That's why I try to do my research before I purchase. I noticed there was a big difference between the base slx reel and the tatula sv just due to the fact that I can easily skip the sv...so for that purpose it's worth the added cost. So now I'm just trying to figure out if the metanium or steez is worth the added cost on top of the tatula sv/slx dc... Thanks
  23. I typically try to go middle of the road...that usually has the most ROI (eg porsche, Omega/Rolex...) Quality without the ridiculousness So would something like the tatula sv be in that area or is there a big step up/difference between that and say the metanium dc? What am I getting in return for double/triple the price? And please don't take this like I am bashing high end reels...I am just trying to learn more. To me, there's a huge difference between a shimano slx rod and an expride...so just wondering if there's the same difference in reels.
  24. Hello everyone. So I have slowly built up my rod arsenal and have some really nice rods. I understand why I have bought each rod and what qualities allow it to perform the way I want it to for a particular technique. But the high end reels is what I don't really understand the benefits. I currently have a few random reels (two of each shimano slx, slx dc, and daiwa tatula sv). Is there a big benefit to getting higher end reels like the metanium dc or the steez? I don't mind buying one if it helps land a fish. Thanks for your help!
