  1. Like Mobasser said shove some 15lb mono on it and go fishing.
  2. Bought one a couple of weeks ago and use it for buzzbaits. Probably caught 20 bass and a few mudfish. The only problem I've had was hitting a tree about 10' from me. Had to cut the line off.
  3. The first 15 years after I moved to GA I fished about 200 days a year mostly in Lake Lanier and caught a minimum of 10 bass per day.
  4. 24lb 12oz striper on 6lb mono with a very jerky drag and a zoom finesse worm. 142lb swordfish on 40lb mono. Many bonito on 4lb; tried 2lb but couldn't land any. Mitchell 308 reel. Captain Phil wins.
  5. I fish for shoal bass weekly in the summer and it looks, to me, like a shoal bass.
  6. After saltwater trips I lay my rods on the lawn and lightly spray them off. Done this for probably more years than most of you have been alive.
  7. Rainshadow Immortal is my finesse worm blank. I've tried a few others and really like the Immortal. Just built a 2.8 oz rod to replace one I broke last week.
  8. Found out what I was doing wrong; worked good this morning.
  9. I have a Lowrance Hook2 7 and need to know how to get to "return to vessel". Thanks. My GPS isn't working.
  10. The bearings don't need much if any oil. I clean them with brake cleaner, blow them out and use one drop of hot sauce reel oil. As someone else said clean the inside of the pinion gear and spool shaft.
  11. Received the reel Wednesday, loaded it with 15 lb mono and a buzzbait. Used it Thursday and Friday and caught three bass up to 3 lbs with it. Worked like it should, I'm pleased.
  12. I'm using several Shimano BMP models from the 80s I use when I don't need a higher speed reel. They're 5:1 and good for spinnerbaits, topwater and worms etc.
  13. Bought the Tatula from Sportsman Outfitters a couple of hours ago; hope I'll like it.
  14. garroyo, I think I saw it Thursday, $99.88. fluna, Tried to buy the MB and it's out of stock. Dodge, Where is the MP?
  15. If it really doesn't work for you cut an inch or two off the tip and put a new tip top on it.
  16. I've been using old Shimano baitcasting reels(BMP 250) for a very long time and it's time for a newer higher gear ratio reel. I got an ad for a Shimano Curado 70xg(8:1) from Basspro and went to buy it but they were out. I can't afford anything more than $100 and would like a light weight reel. I do have a couple of 6.3 and 7:1 reels and a dozen or so 5:1 that I use several times a week. Any recommendations? Thanks.
  17. Don't pause on the back motion. You have to load the rod on the back cast and on the forward cast. It'll come with practice.
  18. Returning to the fishing rod for under $50, the All Star Classic @ Academy is the best bang for the buck I've found. Try one.
  19. 15lb mono I've had for 30 years. Caught my PB with one about 3 weeks ago.
  20. What Redmexican and Glenn said. Back the trailer up to get the bunks wet, pull it out to the right depth and load.
  21. I live on a large pond in central FL and the bass I catch are black, hardly any green at all. The ones I catch other places are green. Personally I can't tell the difference in the northern bass I catch at home in GA against the Florida bass I catch here in FL.
  22. I use my net or put the trolling motor part of the way in the water. A push pole would be great to have but don't have the room.
  23. I have one confidence bait that I always catch a fish with. I tried several baits this morning but came back to my confidence bait and caught 2 fish. Everyone I talked to said it was really tough.
