Which High End Reel would you recommend...
Nobody mentioned the Daiwa Steez? I don't have one, but i love my zillions!

Dedicated 1/2 oz Jig rod. Dobyns Xtasy
Thank you! I typically throw 3/8 and 1/2 jigs (with a trailer), but we also don't usually have real thick stuff to contend with. Thinking maybe I don't need the 755????

Dedicated 1/2 oz Jig rod. Dobyns Xtasy
Have you had a chance to use the new 754 yet? I'm currently torn between the 755 or 754.......
- New Dobyns Kaden rod

Baitcasting reels
Haven't really tried anything too light yet. I'm primarily using it on my chatterbait setup. Tuning is easy and there have been times when I probably should have backlashed and didn't. Daiwa tatula/zillion SV is great with lightweight stuff though.

Baitcasting reels
I bought a new Lews tournament pro and a Daiwa SV zillion this year. I cant speak on longevity yet but the tournament pro has exceeded my expectations so far. It holds up well against the zillion! It doesnt feel or act like it's over 100 dollars cheaper than the zillion.

Need a High End jig rod
Dobyns has a "jig rod special" in the champion lineup - 744. The rod is made for jigs. I have one and it's great. Never thrown a DX so I cant compare.

Best spinning setup
Sounds cheap enough!!!!
-
solid budget minded reel
I have (and love) Daiwas.......but a Lew's Tournament MB is a fantastic reel (and value) at around $100.
-
LEW's Rebates
Tournament Pro is awesome. Exceeded expectations so far.

LEW's Rebates
Same here. Bought the Tournament Pro in March, also sent the money in for free jacket and still nothing.

Dedicated Chatterbait Rod
This is why I use the Champion 736 glass. More power but not too stiff. Add me on the bandwagon for Dobyns 736 glass.

Trying Daiwa reels, need experienced advice
So far I'm happy with my Zillion SV on a jig rod, and plan on getting a Tatula SV next. I wanted an SV reel for skipping as well. Not sure if I would pay $300 for a reel, but you can find a new Zillion SV for $229 (instead of listed $300) and typically I see the Tatula SV for around $165. I hear the suggested retail difference of $100 is probably not worth it from the Tatula to a Zillion, but a difference of only $65 was worth it to me to pull the trigger on a new Zillion. Good luck!

Spinning Reel Suggestions
Daiwa BG for around $80-85 is an awesome spinning reel

Which Dobyns rod should I go with?
Sounds like the 704 or 734 would be best bet. Many people feel that the 734 is the best all purpose rod in the Dobyn's lineup. If you cannot find a deal for a less than retail Sierra - look at the Champion line. You can pick up a new Champion 734C for just over $200.
