  1. Outboard blew up middle of the season last year. Replaced both trailer tires end of June which need replaced again after only about 3000 miles on them. Yes thousand not hundred. Had a 2000 mile round trip on them when they were brand new. even with them being balanced the insides still wore out . I think I may have a slightly bent axle.
  2. Thinking of putting the low profile rod saver straps in my boat. Just the Velcro style. Are they secure enough to hold your rods while you tow your boat? My boat only goes about 23 mph so not worried about it there just want to be able to tow with my rods on the deck as my rod locker is only long enough for like 3 of my rods, so I always have the. On the main floor propped up onto the back deck. Knock on wood in the 6 years of owning this boat the only thing I've lost while towing had been a rod sock. And that was one of my dad's ?
  3. My kayak has a long ass bungee cord Iver the rear well area that criss crosses I just run two parts of it through the crate to hold it. Never had an issue
  4. Moving for a sports team no way. Moving for better deer or bigger bass sign me up.
  5. I have a pt165 I'm getting ready to put a tray, in just relocate the cross member if it is in the way. I seen a video of an install on I believe a 175 or 170 if you Google search recessed foot pedal tray bass tracker it will come up
  6. What is your budget ? A curado is an excellent reel the only thing I don't care for is it's limited line capacity. Other than that I love my curado k and at $179 it's probably the best reel in it's price point. $100-150 range I would look at Lew's although that new slx Shimano is getting great reviews at $100
  7. You can see in the first pic the line tie is messed up turned toward the left of the bait just a touch. Twist it back to the right and drop down to a size 6 hook and she will run
  8. Look for arrow wraps. They have them available in kids themes. one stringer is a brand that is very high quality https://onestringer.com/arrow-wraps/youth/princesses/ Here is the princess page for arrow wraps for you
  9. Haha it's Ohio game fishing just another forum. Someone posted the same pic with the same title and almost same description. I'll see if I can find it
  10. I'm 28 and while I do have a down imaging graph and an old gps graph that's only accurate within about 100 feet. I still do stuff the old school way. Line up with the rock and crooked tree and come out 4 cast lengths to find that stump that hasn't rotted away yet! These young guns coming out of highschool are awesome fisherman. I fish with a few of them. They understand the electronics and also have alot of financial help getting these things. Take them away they would struggle hooribly. So who ever said take them away to find out who the real fisherman are I agree. The old timers would be back on top in tournaments
  11. Glenn are you on OGF too?
  12. I don't think I know anyone that would fish for fish that aren't on there graph when fishing deep? It's not trying to reinvent the wheel it's trying to get better at a specific technique. And chop I think figuring out the correct conditions to make this technique work for me is another big part of the equation I haven't yet figured out
  13. I looked up the Mikey ballz cranking videos. And we will troll for saugeyes and stuff but rarely bass although we do catch them sometimes when we are trolling
  14. Okoboji I would typically agree with that but, I'm the one always telling people to slow down when I'm fishing with them. I get my slow fishing from spending so many hours fishing inland for walleyes. And swbass you two may have very well hit the nail on the head and I could be throwing to inactive fish
  15. Snap a tube jig. Heavy weight heads. Also in a quarry I use to fish with extremely clear water I always did extremely well on a rapala bx minnow in smelt color. Its a goldish color. Also fish a topwater FAST don't let the fish get a good look at it. In clear water you can get them to come up out of 20+ fow and smash a topwater
  16. I catch tons of largemouth on smaller sized hair jigs. They just flat out work. My dad on the other hand fishes big 3/4 oz hair jigs swimming them shallow like under 10' shallow. Like most bait certain people shine at certain techniques. I recently tied up a few of my own that I think will rock giants The one on left is black and white feathers hard to tell against black background.
  17. Here's a pic that is deceiving and I know the scale is accurate as I test it with dumbbells twice a year hard to take a selfie of fish. Had phone propped next to seat while I sat on front deck
  18. I just got Into kayak fishing last year and love it. What I think I am going to do for a graph is just buy an extra transducer power cord and mount for one of the graphs on my bass boat so I can easily use it on my kayak as well. The way I see it is I can fish a high end graph on my kayak for about $200 instead of $500+ and all I have to do is loosen two set screws on the mount. Something to think about if you already have a boat rigged with graphs
  19. Awesome info thank you very much! I will try to find his cranking videos. I have watched some of his stuff before he's a very smart fellow. And on the hair jigs my dad is the man with them things. 3/4 oz hair jigs swimming them In SHALLOW water wacks hawgs for him. I've never been able to duplicate his results. d**n old guys and there secrets haha
  20. Try to respond to all above. I mainly fish Inland lakes not erie. When I'm fishing these lakes deep I'm fishing ledges steep drops and points and yes I can catch them on other baits most times. This is just another tool for me to learn to be effective with. Our thermoclines set up very clear on the lakes that develop them during the hottest parts of the year. I have at times caught myself fishing below the thermocline and stopped as soon as I realised what I was doing. Surprisingly enough I don't have an issue with getting long casts with flouro line. In the beginning I did untill I learned to cast effectively with a new style of line which did take a bit of time and frustration to get there! I fish two different cranking rods. A m/h mod and a medium moderate rod both with slower gear reels. I switch between these two rods for cranking depending on the size of the cranks I'm fishing and how badly they pull. Or are you suggesting a heavy action rod for the super deep divers? I may have misunderstood your suggestion on rods. I wish I could just catch them flipping and pitching all day. That's my obsession and most productive way to fish.(All confidence) I need to get in the boat with someone who shines at deep water cranking and pick their brain on what and why they are doing certain things to be successful with it.
  21. I think alot of it may be a timing issue and a little bit location. Possibly I'll keep watching vids and talking to people till I get it or my head explodes
  22. Awesome info guys . I typically do fish them in areas I'm confident in producing fish. And I do try to fish cranks that run deeper than the actual water depth to Maintain more bottom contact. walleye trick I use for fishing inland lakes without weights and ledcore. Also I'm fishing them on. 7'3 med heavy mod cranking rod with a 5.4:1 reel on 10# flouro. So maintaining bottom contact isnt a problem I have. I fish them in areas that I catch fish dragging jigs or plastics which is why I'm so d**n confused! Because in my head when those stop working and you know the fish are there certainly cranking would work. But nope not for me!! May be time to explore some new areas What I really hate is when I mark fish on super steep drops in talking from the bank, points dropping into 20 foot or so you know the fish are there and you know your crank is in there face and you can't make them bite. And you know they're bass because you flipping snag one . Makes me wanna throw my cranking stuff in the drink!!
  23. Go try some yaks out. And don't be afraid to shop for used. I bought a wilderness ride 135 for $375. These are approx $1200 kayaks new . Deals are out there to be had. Also don't be afraid of a little heavier kayak. I feel that they are more stable. I just bought my first one last year but I can stand and fish no problems. A quality stable vessel is worth the little extra money. I feel safe enough in it that I floated rivers in middle of winter term shooting ducks out of it
  24. A paddle. I know many guys that don't carry one. Let me tell you if you dont carry one, there will be a day you wish you did! Basic tool set and I always carry an extra life jacket one in an adult size and a youth size just in case you see someone in need
  25. I like to consider myself a fairly avid and well versed bass and multi species angler. But one thing I cannot get to click with my brain is deep cranking. Now where I'm at in Ohio, deep would be around 20' give or take a few depending on the lake . I have the correct equipment for big deep diving cranks so that's not the issue. I just cannot seem to ever get on a good or even decent bite. I will get 1 maby 2 then nothing. Shallow water cranks I do very well with in depths up to 12 foot or so. It's that 15+ depth range where I just can't get it to come together What are some tips or tricks to be more successful for deep cranking. I am talking largemouth if that makes a difference to anyone.
