I was going through some old stuff and found a old Abu 5000D with bait clicker, and a old Abu 5000 both in great shape. What is the best use of these reels? If I don’t have a use for these I may sale one and when we move build a case to start collecting vintage Abu reels.

Ok I just received my custom bottom fishing rod from Carolina Custom rods. I will say it is a great looking rod. The rod is 20-40lb 7ft heavy fast action. Now I’m looking for a reel for it. I have a vintage Penn 704Z with carbontex drag washers, and 60 or 65lb PowerPro braid. The 704 only has 15lbs of drag before the Carbontex washers not sure what it is now. I was thinking of using it or using a Penn Slammer III 6500 which is 50lbs of drag. I’m looking to be fishing in 250ft or under for snapper, bass, and small grouper. Any thoughts?

Add bearings I have several ABUs I was just going to go through them and change them out if it was a benefit to do it.

Is there any way to add bearing to Abu Garcia reels?

What in your opinion what are the most have square bill, and deep crank colors?

I’m in need of a Spinnerbait rod I think I’ll have to give the KK SDP rod a go.

Anyone have any experience with KK rods? I have been looking at the KK speed demon pro rod, and everything I have seen on them said they are worth more then they cost.

I have three rods setup right now. On my Crankbait rod I have Revo Winch 2gen 5.4:1 I think 22 IPT. On my worm and jig rod I have a Revo SX 3gen 6.4:1 26 IPT, and on my frog rod I have a KK Speed demon pro 9.3:1 35.2 IPT. Here is my issue I came across a great condition Revo MGXtreme 7.1:1 28 IPT for $200 so I picked it up. What should I do with it? Change out one of my reels with it? Use it for a different technique (if so what one)? Please help

Can anyone tell me about these reels? I know they are not for bass, but for saltwater trolling. When size fish they handle?

Ok I got my setups ready I just need to put line on them. I’m going to be using braided mainline with a mono leader. What size braided line don’t cut into its self? Also what is the strongest knot to tie braided mainline to a mono leader to go through a low profile reel?

What is the difference between the Abu Revo Winch gens?

I understand its probably greatest value is sentimental, but would be nice to catch some fish with one of my dads old reels.
