Buying ultralight gear?
Bass pro shop/Cabelas panfish pro series rods, light sensitive and Fuji guides and reel seats. If neither near you they do a fantastic job of packaging/shipping.

Did it again!
Jimmy Joe you can try the bass pro shop crankin stick. I have a 7’-3” heavy I’m using for chatterbaits. They’re relatively cheap (on sale quite frequently) and come in a good selection of lengths and powers. The bonus is bps is good with their warranty and return policy so if you break it or just don’t like it you can exchange/return it for something else.

Anybody Got Purchase Plans Over Winter?
Looking at 2 Okuma rods, one bps rod,a Piscifun spinning reel and finally a new Tatula CT to round out and hopefully finish rods and reels so I can start saving and research a kayak purchase ?

Best braid
Not the most popular but I’m happy with suffix performance braid.

Rod power and action for chatterbaits
I’m enjoying my bps cranking stick 7’-3” heavy power fast action rod. Bonus when you catch them on sale.

Dobyns 736cb glass vs Mojo 7'2" H glass vs Tatula 7'4" H Glass
I know it’s not what you’re asking about but I’m using a bps cranking stick 7’-3” heavy and it rips chatterbaits through grass no problems at all.

Most sensitive jig/ t-rig casting rod under $300
I have the tp1 7’-3” med heavy mod. fast and really enjoy it. Using mine for moving baits, cranks and larger spinnerbaits. Very light and comfortable really liking the Winn grips.

Guides - how much difference, really?
I also thoroughly enjoyed the explanation. Thanks JJ??

Casting reel for lighter baits
I have a ca80 and love it. Aluminum frame 6.8:1 gear ratio left hand retrieve. I’m using it on a 6’-6” med power fast action rod using it mainly with 3/8 oz spinner baits but have thrown some smaller square bill and minnow style crankbaits 3/16 oz range and it has been a great reel. Mine is spooled with 10 lb suffix advance mono and no issues since this spring.

Okuma Frog Rod
Thanks Bluebasser86 happy to hear from someone who owns the rod, I’m having a hard time finding any tcs or evx series rods in any of the shops by me as I would like to feel them in person.

Okuma Frog Rod
I believe the mat daddy is a 7’-11” flipping stick. Not looking to go over 7’-4””. Thanks for the options guys.

Okuma Frog Rod
First timer asking a question here, I’m looking at the Okuma TCS series rods to pair with a Shimano SLX to throw frogs and buzzbaits on but I’m not seeing anything anywhere on which rod would be best. I’m thinking the 7’-3” heavy to replace a lews carbon fire 7’-3” heavy as I’m finding the lews doesn’t have much tip action. Any suggestions? Looking to stay at or under $150.00. Also looking at Daiwa Tatula XT.

Ultralight Rod - 6'6" vs 7'?
If you can afford it I bought a bps pro panfish elite series rod in 6’-8” ultralight and plan on buying the 6’-2” light model. All of my fishing is currently on the bank at retention ponds. They are fantastic rods at $80.00 and they’re available in multiple lengths and either ultralight or light power. I find it easier to cast the lighter baits with a 6’-4” light powered rod but prefer the 6’-8” for bobber fishing.

Favorite Emperor Rods
Roland Martin seems to like them. If I’m not mistaken Phoenix rods has one that’s very similar with reviews on Tackle Tour. I’m digging the no wrap? finish on the butt end on the Phoenix. I believe it’s an M1 series. Sorry Phenix rods.

Crankbait setup questions
If you can afford/ justify the reel I found it makes cranking more enjoyable. I have 5,6,7and 1reel in 8 speed ( not my cup of tea) and enjoy them all for different applications. Again for a lower price point try the Kastking or Piscifun lower end reels and see if it suits you. If nothing else if you have a Bass Pro nearby they do a trade-in every year,at least where I’m at.

Crankbait setup questions
Although I cannot comment on the rods I use a ‘7-3” TP1 perfect crankback with a revo x in 5.4:1 gear ratio and a kastking royal legend 2 5.3:1? On a lews carbon fire ‘6-10” medium and have been happy with both. I’m planning on another revo x this year as the kastking is not built to last imo but hey at$30.00 on sale I’m not complaining.

What’s your favorite reel brands?
Like many others I have a mixed bag of each spinning and casting.13 fishing, abu, bps,Daiwa,kk,Piscifun ,Shimano and quantum but my two favorites (both spinning reels) are an old Daiwa and a old ryobi given to me by my older brother when he saw me getting back into fishing. Tragically he passed several years ago(construction accident) but those reels will stay in my rotation until I’m unable to fish any longer 51 yrs old now.

New setup advice wanted on spinning combo.
I believe there is bps thread on hare referencing the bps patriot rod being made by tfo ,so maybe they make the carbonlite also?
-
New setup advice wanted on spinning combo.
I have 2 lews carbon fire rods with the solid red Winn grips and I really like them but overall the carbonlite rod is much better quality in my opinion.

New setup advice wanted on spinning combo.
Not sure on the rod but the components are of good quality, the guides are Fuji not sure about reel seat and I’m a big fan of Winn grips.
