Fishing. No coffee in the morning.
I know I’m late to this topic but I’m wondering if you’re referring to the poem or the Iron Maiden song ? Either way I don’t fish out of any vessel but after experiencing dehydration as a apprentice carpenter who drank too much soda pop and not enough water I do whatever it takes too make sure I drink enough water after a 24 oz coffee first thing in the morning. Heat stroke/dehydration is no flipping joke and scary enough you don’t even know it’s coming on until it’s too late. I’ll never forget or relive the pain of that day and always carry enough water or cash to buy water if needed. Be safe out on the water or shorelines.

Better Fluorocarbon Line
I know it’s not what you’re asking about specifically but you can try Seaguar Basix for around $10.00 and see if it feels or stretches less than your current monofilament. This way you won’t be out of pocket a whole lot and you might wind up liking it, I know I do.

Need recommendation for 1st baitcast setup for 14 year old
I agree with the advice of, watch Glenn’s video on casting a bait caster and letting him try yours. Nothing wrong with that combo in my humble opinion ? Good Luck and keep us updated on the outcome ?

Buzz bait fishing
I’m with Mn Fisher go on Amazon and get a Daiwa Fuego and as NavyToad said get a left hand retrieve. When that comes in if you have a Dicks sporting goods bring the reel and look at a Lews Carbon Fire or any of the moderately priced rods and pick up whatever feels good in your hand with your leftover budget.

Short Handle Casting Rod
I can only speak on behalf of my Fate Black 7’-1” med light spinning rod. Although I don’t have a whole lot of time on the water with it I’m overall very happy and at $80.00 I think it falls into the price also. The specs are available on their website and much like you I was looking for a rod that didn’t have a extremely long handle thus making the actual rod much shorter. @bulldog1935 speaks very highly of his 13 fishing rods and may be able to add to the conversation.

Squarebill rod
I personally like 2 different rods but they both have a relatively soft tip and a good backbone. For smaller 1-1/2”-2” 1/4-3/8oz which I throw the most as I fish retention ponds mostly, I like my 6’-10 Lews Carbon Fire (original Wynn grips)or Lews Hank Parker rod, same blank and guides. Unfortunately they don’t make either series anymore but I’m sure you can find an equivalent in another Lews line. Going larger 2-1/2”- 3-1/2” 3/8-3/4 oz.I’ve used my bps crankin stick in 7’-3” hvy and I’m happy with it but I don’t throw it very often as I’m not fishing big enough water to justify the size of the fish I’m catching. Im planning on adding a 7’-0”Okuma TCS med plus in the future which I feel would fall perfectly in between. As for now any rod I can use for spinner baits also is my preference.

Show off your Stuff
Although I’m not in the market for a new rod the Daiwas are pretty dang nice for the money IMO. Also how do you like the tac 40 ? I’m intrigued by the handle design but no Academy near me to look them over.

I for one wouldn’t mind seeing them?

How to cook & eat Asian Jumping carp ? What how ? By now ?
I was literally listening to a radio segment just now on WLS AM 890 and Illinois is now changing the name from Asian carp to Copie or Kopie?. The biologist talking about this said they are a firm white fillet.

Out of curiosity, what store was it?

Seaguar Basix
I purchased the 10lb line. I’ve only used it a handful of hours with nothing caught but I will say it’s very manageable and my preferred knot (trilene) cinched down tight with 3 different lures. For what it’s worth I would purchase more as needed.

This happened while cleaning a reel
Im laughing right now but I’m in total agreement.

Is there an answer?
Because the average homeowner makes mistakes. And yes I can honestly say that as I was a carpenter for 20 plus years.

New to bass fishing
I’ll agree with @FishinBuck07 Kastking reels and pretty much any of the lower priced point reels can be difficult to dial in. Stay around the $100.00-$125.00 range and you will be much happier and better off in the end. I’ll add the Daiwa CA80 reel is awesome for the price as is the Shimano SLX and yes I use both along with a couple lower end Kastking and Piscifun reels. If you can afford it the Daiwa Fuego CT has the friendliest braking system on the market in my opinion and gets killer reviews from most everyone who owns one. As far as rods, go to Wal Mart and get your hands on a Lews Hank Parker speed stick in either med or med hvy power, or go to Dicks sporting goods and look for the Lews Carbon Fire rods. Both are priced around $70.00 last I checked. One of my favorite rods is a $50.00 Wright & McGill 7’-0” medium powered rod still available at Wal Mart as far as I know.

Walmart lews rods as a frog rod?
I currently have a Daiwa Tatula CT on my Lews 7’-3” Carbon Fire as a frog combo with 50 lb braid. The tip isn’t the softest tip out there but it launches a couple different frogs I bought off a co-worker a friggin ways?. My point is I’m not sure if it’s the rod, reel or combination but if you can swing it buy whichever Lews rod strikes your fancy and a used Tatula CT and I think you will be happy. PS I have the 6’-10” Lews Hank Parker rod and it’s identical other than color to the Carbon Fire. As for a killer color match mine is enjoying a Daiwa CA80 aluminum framed reel and it’s awesome. Forgot to add this photo ? it’s not much but it’s my start to a frog/slop only box?

Walmart lews rods as a frog rod?
I have 2 of the original (solid red Wynn grips) Carbon Fire rods and I love them both. Mine are a 7’-3” hvy and a 6’-10” med.

150$ crankbait rod
I’ve not personally used the Omen Black, but I was going to purchase the 7’-0” after handling it at a local tackle shop. Felt really nice in hand but I wound up with a couple of bps crankin sticks instead.

150$ crankbait rod
I have zero experience with the KVD lineup but I have and thoroughly enjoy my TP1 med hvy moderate. Fair price and well made rods imho.

So I know I’ve posted pics of both the rod and reel which I have officially fished both but not together. I just finally put it together on Memorial Day. Can’t wait to try this Sonny & Cher combo out? #love a color match? I cannot thank @FrnkNsteenenough for making me “an offer I couldn’t refuse” on the rods. This pic is 1 of the 2 combos for the upcoming season ?

Daiwa TW80 Ramblings
Finally got to use mine this morning. Although I didn’t catch anything I will say it is super comfortable and easy to dial in. Also used my new to me Revo ALF which is by far the smallest/lightest reel I own, again didn’t catch anything but happy to have them both and looking forward to using them.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Went out for 3-1/2 hours this morning, tried 4 different retention ponds and numerous lures. Wind was definitely no help but the biggest problem is the weeds on my favorite pond grew with a vengeance this year, at least 15-20 yards from shore and super thick. Finally got bit at the last pond I tried, at least I didn’t get skunked ?
