Best And Worst Piece Of Fishing Advice You Ever Got
The best has always been "lets go fishin!" The worst is when the pros say "let the fish tell you what they want". Some days the fish are very quite in my parts. Paul

Your Fishing Partner Bothers You When......
When he wont go fishing with you! My brother just doesnt want to make plans for anything so we only go when it just happens to work out. My other fishin buddy tells me all the time that I wont catch them on that bait! Case in point I went to throw a stanly ribbit toward some weeds and he says I wont catch anything with that and on the first cast got a 14 inch largemouth. I looked at him and he was slackjawed and has since kept those kind of remarks to himself. Paul

Mepps Timber Doodle
I have 2 of them and have yet to catch anything on them. And as stated by wanderlust the Johnson silver minnow does better. I don't have one but my brother does and he usually catches quite a few fish a year on it. Paul

Terminator Spinnerbaits
I have allot of the t1's but I have to admit I have not caught many fish on them. I for some reason think that anything swimmin would want to eat it but apparently they don't want them that much. I still throw em though. I do have some with chipped heads but I have never lost a blade and never have I found blade tarnished. So as long as it's a quality t1 for 2$ I would go for it. Paul

To paint a crankbait or not?
That's just what I needed to hear. They have been resting in my fishing desk for some time now. As I get older I find I am getting less hung up on what colors to buy. Thanks. Paul

Name your jerk-bait
When I first started jerkbaitn I got x-raps and caught allot of fish. A few years later I graduated to luckycrafts and have yet to catch one fish on them, think I will go back to the x-raps. Paul

To paint a crankbait or not?
A few years ago I bought a bunch of Lucky Craft cranks in the sexy shad color because "that's a cool color". Now I realize that I haven't used them that much because to me the sexy shad color is a clear water color and allot of the water I fish is fairly stained. So do I just use them as they are in stained water or should I paint them to a color I think better suits stained water? Thanks. Paul

Need advice on fixing aluminum boat
the tear is about one inch long and is located at where the v part of the hull transitions to the flat part. I was told they ran it aground hard enough to rip it. The other part of the problem is someone pulled out the other 2 bench seats to put in a flat floor and they didn't put any support under the floor. So as I fix the rip I plan to add some support to the hull to beef it up. Paul

Need advice on fixing aluminum boat
I got a new boat for a bargain but it has a hull tear near the front(but on the bottom) and would like some ideas on how to repair it. My brother says to make a patch panel bigger than the tear and silicon and bolt it in place on the inside. It is a 1977 15 foot crestliner. Some previous owner tried a weird epoxy patch but it did nothing, I popped it right off. I thought about taking it to a welding shop but I am concerned about how much that would cost as I don't want to put allot of money into it, would rather just save my money for a new jon. Any thought or tip would be appreciated. Thanks. Paul

Soft swimbait question (berkely hollow belly style)
Last year I picked up some hollowbellys and caught some really nice bass on them. This year so far nothing. I have also noticed they are sliughtly tweaked at the tail now, is this enough to throw them off enough not to catch bass? And then I got to thinking would the z-man baits hold up better because they are stretchy they would not kink at the tail as easily. Anybody use the z-man swimbait that can chime in and give an opinion. Any other input would be appreciated. Thanks. Paul

Tru-Tungsten 4" Swimbait Help!
I too got the tru tungsten and have yet to even get a follow. I love the action but no fish means it will no longer stay in tackle box. Will still keep trying though. Paul

Drift sock to boat sizing?
I have been looking at getting a drift sock for my 2 man bass boat but got to thinking when I upgrade to a jon(hopefully 14ft) will I be able to use the same size on it too. Also the place I am going to get one the smallest is 36 inches, would that be too big for my 8 footer bass boat? Thanks. Paul

Favorite grubs?
Kalins for all 3 sizes(and the bigger ones too)! I used to use berkely but they have disontinued my fav color and never made it in a larger size other than 3 inch. But when I tried Kalins I dropped GYCB and Berkely like hot potatoes. Paul

Fishing Vocabulary
My brother and I call all plants(in the water) "poop". Not sure why either. Grass bass is a good one, my dad has used that one for as long as I have been fishing. So when I catch a stick I call it a stick bass. Paul

Fin tech title shot jigs?
Anybody use these? What did you think? I saw an add in one of my fishing mags and just looked up the sight and they do look really nice. But before I were to order some I thought I would ask here first. Thanks. Paul

Favorite Spinner Bait brand?
I voted terminator. It was the first spinner I got after getting back into fishing. Went to my friends pond and caught a bass on it and then bought allot more of them. I really like the titanium wire as it should last a long time. Paul

MAJOR CABIN FEVER.....
Hi, my name is Paul and I have cabin fever! I have had it since the waters I fish have had been covered in ice. I have been ice fishing, rereading all my fishing mags and books, gone through all my rods and tackle, watch as many shows possible and in the end I just want that ice gone. I even dug out one of my backup rods and practiced casting to get ready. The one thing I can look foward to is the local river has started to break up a bit and soon should be able to fish for northern and that will help a bit but I won't be cured until I can get out in the boat. Really good rod for under $50???
I am posting this question for my dad. He is looking to update his spinning rod and reel(probably over 30 years old at least). he found a reel he likes and it's the flooger president. He's also found a few rods he likes but most are berekely lightning rods and from what I have read you either hate them or love them. He has found that the lighter rods(actual weight) don't aggrivate his casting arm(tennis elbow?). So what would be a all around spinning rod(meduim power) for around $50 that is lightweight but still a quality purchase that could last for some time to come? Thanks. Paul

Favorite Braid (poll)
I voted suffix. I also like fireline for some applications but since I found suffix I have not looked back. I tried power pro but for me it didn't cast as nice. Those last 2 sentences might make me an outcast(LOL). Paul

What did you catch your personal best on?
For me it was a strike king 4s crank in white body black scale back. The LMB was 22 inches long and weighed 3 pounds 11 ounces about 2 years ago in the fall. Now to allot of guys thats a normal keeper but where I live that was a big bass. Paul

Fred Young Big O crankbaits
If you are referencing the ones from cabelas I have 5 of them in 2 sizes. The only problem with them is one of mine has a cracked lip. I have had it for a ling time but just noticed last year so I stopped using it(not that it got used allot anyway). I do throw my other ones once in a while but I have yet to catch a fish on any of them, probably more me than the cranks. Hope this helps. Paul
