I would. I heard it’s pretty easy to break though. I have a spool of it actually that a friend gave to me that I never used. I believe it’s 8. And I would like a little stretch but not too much. I know actually FC stretches more than some monos however I do like the aspect of being that fluoro you can feel bites in slack line. A lot of the times after I hop a ned or t rig I don’t reel in the slack line and I let it sit. I use CXX on my Topwater rod and I know that’s as low stretch as mono can basically get but how about FC? What would be the next runner up in mono? I know invizx is pretty stretchy

Looks like it’s between YZH and straight braid. I would like a little stretch which I know YZH can provide but braid is very manageable so it’s a tough choice. How does 15# braid do for abrasion? It’s relatively not the best right?

Hey all, I’ve been trying to decide on a perfect line for my medium fast spinning setup I have. I use this for lots of different things such as ned rigs, shaky head, weightless t rigs and some light weight t rigs. No topwater gets thrown on this. I’m trying to figure out what line and # would be like the best overall for all those things. I HATE any leaders and I know many and many people use braid to leader but that’s just not my thing so if we can stick to a straight line that’d be greatly appreciated. I throw in a bunch of stuff and sometimes rocks so I don’t want something that gets cut like butter or something that is weak and breaks easily. But also something that isn’t so bad to handle on spinning gear. I know it’s a lot to ask, any suggestions?

So is the h2o Xpress m3 mettle good enough for the job? 13lbs of drag, aluminum and 7 speed.

I’ll see if I can find any around for $80. Maybe in the flea market. Is an aluminum frame necessary for frogging?

Hey all. So I’m setting up a budget combo for my buddy for frog fishing. He wants to get more into frogging. He wanted to keep his rod under $50 so I suggested a Shimano Sellus H-F which now he has. He would like to keep the reel under $70. I’m trying to find him a reel in the 7 speed range with at least 13-15lbs of drag because I feel that’s important for frogging. Also trying to find a aluminum body but not sure of anything that fit these requirements in the price range. Any suggestions? Also do you even need an aluminum frame for frogging? Am I thinking too far into it?

Hey all, so at the moment I’m going to be stuck with 4 rods for a while. I’m wondering how you guys would sort these to which techniques. Here’s what I have and what I use them for: 6’6 MH F with 15# defier armilo. I use this for basically all my topwater EXCEPT frogs and a pretty big savage gear duck I have for river fishing. 7’0 H F with 50# power pro. This is my frog rod and my heavy heavy topwater lures like my savage gear duck. 7’0 MH MF with 15# invisX. I use this rod for my spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swim baits, swim jigs and every other jig I have. So I use this a lot for bottom contact. 7’0 M F spinning with 10# trilene xl. This is for all my finesse fishing like little jigs and ned rigs and wacky rigs. I also use this for t rigs. Is there any better way I can use these for different things or am I okay using them how I have been? Also been looking for a better bottom contact rod. Would like to keep it under $120 if any suggestions. Thanks all.

Definitely looks like I’ll give some hi viz braid a go. Was looking at the seaguar smack down lime green or yellow. Might even do a hi viz leader now as well. Thanks all for the replies.

Hey all, so I’ve recently started wanting to use some hi viz line so I can watch and see my line better. My question is would a high viz line deter a fish from striking a TOPWATER lure? Sense the line floats I’m very curious. Even though you can see the topwater strikes, sometimes I lose sight of it if it’s choppy or windy. What do y’all think? My topwater setup is 50lb moss green with a 17lb mono leader just in case I get a toothy fish. I cut the leader off when I’m frogging and just use straight braid. I know for underwater applications and techniques everyone has their own opinion. I personally use a fluro leader just for ease of mind.

The quality of the rods is easily beatable by rods at the exact same price of theirs. They might have cool designs but that’s about all you’re getting. Stick to reputable brands.

Yeah it was a MF so I was completely mind boggled. They didn’t say much they just said they’d send me the right rod? I was good with that. Didn’t ask any other questions, didn’t even ask for the other rod back.

Hey all, so I’ve recently been stuck with only three setups. I’m looking for suggestions on what line I should use for my chatter bait, spinner bait, jigs and some swim bait rod. I would like it to be manageable because I’ve tried straight FC in the past and it was a mess. Abrasion resistant but also slack line sensitivity for the bottom contact. Was thinking of AbrasX. Any suggestions?

So just an update. I ordered the MH-MF from sportsmanoutfitters and they sent me a M-F. I called and they said they don’t have anymore MH-MF rods left. With that being said I’m now looking at the dobyns colt 7’0 cranking MH-MF and just using it for my jigs spinners and chatters. How is this rod? And would those applications be okay on a “cranking” rod?

Just thought I’d fill everyone in. I settled on the $70 deal for a falcon bucoo SR MH-MF. Now just thinking about which reel. Tough decision hear because they all seem like decent choices.

Was looking at the bucoo and caius. Just haven’t seen many reviews on the caius reel so didn’t know if it was quality or not.

Sorry yes casting. I mostly use 3/8 and lighter but occasionally 1/2. Also going to be using straight fluoro on this setup.

I’ve heard many people complain about breaking off with abrazx. I definitely am thinking going straight fluoro on my 7 mh, just looking for the best tool for the job.
