Line recommendations for my setups and techniques?
What braid and fluoro would you use for the spinning setup? Just curious. Thanks for the recommendation.

Line recommendations for my setups and techniques?
Hey all, right now I’m running three setups because that’s all I have at the moment (left all my other rods in a different state, long story). Here’s what I have: 6’6 MHF Baitcaster: This is my topwater rod. I use this for EVERYTHING TOPWATER including frogs. Right now I have #40 Power Pro on there and I do like it. I’ve also used Sunline Defier Armilo Nylon and I loved that stuff as well. For the use of everything topwater would mono or braid be best and what # for an overall purpose topwater line? 7’0 MHF Baitcaster: This is my rod for all types of jigs, spinner bait, chatter bait, some swim baits rod. I currently have suffix 832 in #40 on this and it’s not my favorite but it’s not the worst either. What type of line would be best for those types of applications and # test? 7’0 MF Spinning: This is my rod for t rigs, soft plastics, finesse like ned rig and wacky rig. I currently have #10 suffix advance mono on it right now and again it’s not the best but not the worst. What type of line would be best for the applications and # test? I’m not big on tying on leaders at all and I always use straight line and direct tie. So please no leader recommendations. Thank you for everyone’s response.

Best small kayak?
Really like the three rod holders on the ra220 and the hatch in front of the seat however it is 68 lbs so a tiny bit heavier than the others

Best small kayak?
I’ve narrowed it down to some kayaks. I feel like a 11ft is a good compromise. Some speed but still a bit on the shorter side. I have the bkc ra220 11.5, hoodoo tempest 120 hybrid, crescent ck1 venture and the native slayer 12 all in mind. They all seem to be on the lighter side.

Best small kayak?
Hey all, I’m in the market for a smaller fishing kayak. Right now I have a kayak that’s around 100lbs and definitely takes me and a buddy to lug it around. I don’t stand much when I’m out on the water so I don’t need to be able to stand much. However, I would like it to be stable so if I sway side to side on it or lean to one side in the water trying to grab a fish, it won’t roll and will be sturdy. Anything under 12ft is what I’m targeting, light and fast in open water. Also will be using a 3.5lb anchor if that makes any difference. One I have been looking at is the Brooklyn kayak fk285. It is only 9 feet 2 inches which for some reason scares me. But I’m intrigued by the hatch right in front of the seat and the 3 rod holders with one being adjustable right in front of you. Don’t need any hook ups for fish finder or anything either. Just some rod holders and storage are fine with me Any suggestions?

Rod and line decision
Do you think a Ned rig would still work fine with a MH? I just don’t have the selection of rods right now to get a finesse only setup.
-
Rod and line decision
Yeah the topwater and swim baits setup are casting. I only use spinning on that setup because of the Ned rig. I know spinning is a bit better for finesse techniques. Could I pass by with casting?

Rod and line decision
As of right now I use 3 setups. Topwater - 6’6 MH/F Cranks, jerks, all swim baits - 7’0 MH/F My third setup just recently snapped so I’m out to get another one. It was a spinning 6’8 M/F that I used from ned rigs, t rigs all the way up to small jigs and everything in between. With everything I use it for I’m wondering if I should get a MH or stick with the M? What makes me stick with the M is just thinking about a Ned rig on a MH. Also my next question is what type of line I should be using on this spinning setup? I’ve heard some people say braid is good for bottom contact which is essentially everything I’m using on it. I had #8 invisx on it so wondering if I should change it or not. Not interested in using mono on it. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and suggestions.

Should I use clips?
I hate having to change lures because of how long it takes for me to tie the line on. Duolocks. My buddy uses them on all lures and I’ve seen him set the hook with clips pretty hard and has had no problems.
-
Should I use clips?
I just have many questions about it. Like are they also good to use on soft swim baits too that have that metal loop on the lure?
-
Should I use clips?
What brand or type do you guys use also I would love to know. So do you take split rings off and use snaps right to the lure as well?
-
Should I use clips?
Hey all, I’ve recently started noticing my buddies using clips on all their lures. One of them swears by it and he removes all split rings on every lure and attached the clip to the loop on the lure. He also stated that it makes the action better on some lures. I’ve always tied my line on to the split rings. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this? Is it proven to be effective?

Casting Rod Choice Help for Beginners/New Fisher Friends

Best overall non top water casting rod
Appreciate the help. Looks like I’ll be picking up some 16# sniper for the new setup. Thank you.

Best overall non top water casting rod
I appreciate your help. I’m also torn between using fluoro or braid. I have sunline defier nylon for my top water and I love that stuff. Also wouldn’t be tying on any leaders, would most likely use straight braid or FC. (Never been the one to tie leaders on, not sure why). Any suggestions?

Best overall non top water casting rod
I like that setup, that’s a nice one. Is the plfueger supreme worth it? Never heard of those reels for some reason. I really like the Dobyn fury rods, I also see the fenwick HMG casting on sale for $75 for a 7’ MHF. Do you think that tops the fury? Or still stick with the fury heavy?

Best overall non top water casting rod
Rod and reel for that price preferably. I know there are some nice $100 rods out there like the Dobyn fury if you catch it on sale.

Best overall non top water casting rod
Hey all. As of right now I’ve been using only two rods for fishing. One is a baitcast 6’6 MH for everything top water that I throw. The other I use is a spinning 7’ ML for everything else. I’m looking to upgrade to a casting setup and I know ML isn’t ideal for every under water lure. I’ve missed many hook sets because of the action but it’s the only rod I’ve had. I’m in the market for a casting setup that’ll go along side with my top water casting setup. I know usually 3 or 4 rod setups will cover everything but at this time I don’t have the budget for that. What would be the best overall casting setup for all non top water lures? MH? M? Looking to spend not over $150-$175. Also would be using fluorocarbon on this setup. Not sure if that makes a difference.

One top water rod
Hey all, I’m in the market for a top water rod. I know most people use two rods for top water. One medium for treble baits and a medium heavy for frogs and such. Right now I’m only looking for one rod for my top water baits for a little bit as my next purchase will be a kayak and not another rod. Should I go with a medium heavy just to have the extra power or go with a medium? Would love to hear everyone’s opinions.

Best fishing kayak under $1,000?
Sorry to all. I’m new to this so I’m learning a lot from talking to you guys! That’s a good point about the rod storage the bending which I didn’t even think of. At this point I’m just looking for something that’s 11 ft or longer, that’s stable and light. I’ve been looking at the feelfree moken 12 v2. Anyone have any experience with this kayak?

What color is that middle green senko? I never have seen a lighter green color on a senko like that.

Best fishing kayak under $1,000?
Thank you for all the tips and suggestions. Definitely waiting for Black Friday and see what pops up there. And I already had in mind that after I get a kayak the dolly to transport it comes next! I’ve been looking for a kayak that sits a little above so it can handle water better. Kinda just looking for a Jack of all trades for any water I throw it in. Besides ocean.
