  1. I can only guess at the speed but I'd say in the mid to upper 30s if it is propped correctly. I'm basing that on the fact that one of the guys I sometimes fish with has a 17.5 nitro with a 90 merc. It runs in the upper 30s. Another guy has an 18.5 skeeter with a 115 yammy. It runs in the upper 30s.

You had better take him up on this. You can't beat it.

I have a bait that I call a do nothing because it has no action except for what I give it. I make them in brass tubes that I buy at the local hardware store. I have 24 of them set up at a time and before I begin adding the plastisol, I give each a quick shot of WD-40. I let them set up for a while then I push them out with a rod that just fits the inside diameter of the tubes. Some times I use cooking oil bit it is way harder to use than WD.
  4. Yes you should be using the 6 amp side.
  5. If you have a tax id you can buy from Shorty's if not then you need to order from Captain Hooks.
  6. I make my own jigs and include the weedguard except on swim jigs. I fish too much wood and rocks to go without it.
  7. If you learn to fish with your foot on the pedal (not the on button) you will always be ready for minute adjustments to keep the boat properly set. Also learn to use your left foot when fishing out the right side of the boat and vice versa.
  8. I use 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 oz jigs. The 1/8 and 1/4 I mostly swim. For "normal" jig fishing I let wind and water depth help me decide. However, a 1 oz jig can really stir up the bottom in shallow water and produce some really solid strikes on occasion.
  9. Jigs can be made in any color that you want. White, white/chartreuse, silver, and red jigs have been very productive for me on lots of occasions. Don't let the norm dictate what you want to use. Sometimes that bait they have never seen before will really score.
  10. Deep cycle batteries need lots of reserve amps. 200 or more is what I'd want. I looked up the Everstart at Wallys and could not find any mention of reserve capacity.
  11. I run a dual pro 3 bank 15 amp per bank and love it.
  12. I don' t know of anyone using that size but since 36 draws less amps than 24 you might get away with it unless you plan to use high a lot.
  13. Those numbers are kHz numbers. You get interference when you use 2 units on the same frequency and the water depth is great enough for the signals to overlap. The only time I have interference is with the 83/200 when both are turned on and the water is deeper than 20'.
  14. You can store way more there than the unit can hold. I have several thousand on a 512 mb card and it is not close to full. Wpts don't take up much room at all.
  15. I think you have the right idea. I have thousands of wpts and keep them in separate files for each lake. I'm not sure what software program will work for you as Lowrance quit making the one that I use (Map Create 7). I'm sure there are some out there in the public domain but I can't name anything off hand. You can also put them on your sd card and label the file by the specific lake and store them that way. You can work directly from the unit to edit and or delete certain wpts though it is pretty slow that way. When you get a system going you just save them to the card then delete the file from the unit and purge the units memory. Then you are ready to load a different wpt file. I have so many and have taken years to collect them that I really try to keep them save. I have them on 2 different sd cards and in 2 different locations in my computer. Good luck to you. I hope you find a good management tool.
  16. I've had good luck with B O E marine.
  17. X2 This is the only knot that I use for any line.
  18. Some of the modern wheel weights can't be used because of one of the alloys in them. I don't remember just what it is. I think smalljaw is the guy who knows about this. Perhaps he will see this and chime in.

This site won't allow me to post pics from my photo host and we don't have the web store set up just yet.

How many hundred would you want? Salt or not salt?
  22. Put on a set of greasable axle hubs and you should not have any problems or have to repack them. Mine have been on for 13 years now and I have only looked into them once and that was when I was making a 2000 mile trip with the boat.
  23. I had that happen to me on a travel trailer and didn't see the problem until a guy pulled me over. By then there was a fire and the brakes burned up. I took a chisel and cut off the frozen race. I filed the spindle back smooth put new bearings in and went on home. Later I replaced the brake. I used that trailer for several more years then sold it to a friend 9 years ago. It is still going strong.

I can't see it well enough to tell the color.
  25. Yep that is what I'd use.
