- Secondary battery for boat electronics
I currently have a 100AMP Mighty Max Lead sealed battery for my 10ft pelican boat. only thing I have connected is my 55 lb minn kota but I plan on having a fishfinder, nav lights in the front (required on my lake) and a stern light pole in the back that will be controlled by switch panels. now my question is can I run all these off the same battery I use for the trolling motor or should I buy a secondary battery for my electronics to run on? if so what batteries would you recommend? I only plan on running those basic three things for now (not including the motor on the bigger battery).- Trolling motor wire extension
Fight the wire? I'm not snaking it through my boat. It's a plastic pontoon boat, if anything it will go below my yoga mat flooring I have in it. The boat has a ribbed floor so the wires should sit nicely. Also my battery is 100AMPs.- Trolling motor wire extension
I can't really find any 6 gauge female connectors, most I see online are listed up to 10 AWG. Is there any connectors good for 8 gauge?- Trolling motor wire extension
Yeah I mean I just need 9 feet of wire to run back to my plastic pontoon boat. I'm not going crazy with wiring, just something that can connect the back to the front.- Trolling motor wire extension
Any links to this? My plan is to replace my 10 gauge wire with a 6 gauge, it will be one unit of a positive and negative that will run all the way back to the battery. I don't have the MK battery box yet so do I still need a circuit breaker or can I just take the wires and directly connect them to the battery with terminal rings for now? My wire connectors in the head look like this they sell these at lowes home depot etc I think. Do I need a specific size for the 6 gauge wire?- Trolling motor wire extension
What are the parts used to connect the wires to the motor head? Also would I still need a circuit breaker if it's just directly from the motor to the battery?- Has anyone found they are happy with non high end rods and reels
Absolutely. Almost every rod and reel I own is less than or right at the 120 dollar range, my most expensive rod being a dobyns fury for jerkbaits and cranks. All my reels are below 100 dollars with the most being in the 79 to 99 dollar range with my SLX being the most expensive. I actually have a enigma fishing reel that's listed at 115 dollars but I got it on sale for 90. They all work great and will last for a long time as long as they're maintained correctly and cleaned.- Trolling motor wire extension
So basically instead of crimping the 10 gauge factor wire with lets say a 6 gauge like some other people recommended in the thread it woupd be better to just replace the 10 gauge with a long 6 gauge all together?- What’s the most recent lure(s) you have adopted?
Culprit ribbontail worm in Grape shad, awesome color and action and will catch fish both big and small. Crazy thing is I haven't caught a ribbontail fish since 2008. That streak ended this year!- Trolling motor wire extension
How would I go about to replace the factory trolling motor wire? Does minn kota sell 6 or 8gauge wire to connect or would I have to buy marine grade wire?- Trolling motor wire extension
What size gauge connectors would you recommend for connecting the motor wires with the thicker 8 gauge wire?- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Some recent adventures. Caught some chubby fish last week at the ponds and also caught some huge bluegill and my first bass on my new boat over the weekend!- Trolling motor wire extension
Yeah so the 60AMP is definitely needed, So when I connect the circuit breaker do I put terminal rings on each side of the wires or do I just strip and put the copper instead the circuit breaker?- Trolling motor wire extension
That's probably what happened with my boat this past weekend, I have a plastic pontoon boat that's prewired and something happened to the fuse inside. My setup was the trolling motor on the bow plugged into the boat and the wires came out the back and hooked up to the battery. 5 minutes in and the motor stopped at max speed. But when I tested the motor wires directly to the battery it started back up. So hopefully the extension to the back of the boat will fix it with the correct circuit breaker.- Trolling motor wire extension
So do I keep the circuit switch on while using the motor? Also I don't have the Minn Kota Battery Box doesn't that already have a cir breaker with it? Would I be better off connecting the 8 gage wires directly to Minn Kota Battery Box?- Trolling motor wire extension
how I would install the circuit breaker on my wire or wires? I'm guessing connect the copper on both ends? And how does the in line circuit breaker function once connected I see there is a switch for it, I'm not a big electrical guy so this all new to me lol.- Trolling motor wire extension
Any recommendations for a fuse?- Trolling motor wire extension
Would I have any problems with the wire being a smaller gage than the 10 gage wire the motor comes with? Also would I need a circuit breaker? My battery is 100amps.- Trolling motor wire extension
I have to extend my minn kota endura max 55 trolling motor wire so it can reach the back of my 10ft boat, I believe the wire the motor came with is 10 gage, what equipment do I need to do this with?- Randy Blaukat-why the haters?
I love Randy Blaukat, yes he can be a bit controversial with his opinions on electronics and other topics but IMO the man is a fishing guru, even as a young guy I can agree that the electronic situation can make the playing field a bit uneven in tournaments. I love his down to earth videos and I believe he is a good teacher for our sport. IMO- Rage menace as a jig trailer
For traditional jigs it's always horizontal, I use them a lot of chstterbaits and swim jigs and verticle is always my choice. I really like them because they can be anything to the fish, especially on waterbodies that don't have crawfish. - Secondary battery for boat electronics
