Question for Road Warrior
A friend of mine I was recently fishing with fishes senkos/baby flukes on a weighted swimbait hook, we fished a local river for smallmouth bass this past weekend and he was slaying them on the fluke. Current wasn't fast moving though, I believe it was a 1/8oz weighted swimbait hook. Hell he outfished me I was throwing a jighead and grub.

Red color EWGs and offset hooks?
In the next coming days I plan to restock my entire Texas rig and weightless worm hook arsenal, I use mostly gamakatsu size 3/0 and 4/0 EWGs and round bends in the same size I mentioned. I know some of you guys swear by red trebel hooks for stuff like cranks jerkbaits etc, but what about worm hooks? is there a difference with using red colored ewgs etc compared to black/nickle? any of you guys use them?

Favourite Topics
Tackle threads, actually better of yet the whole Fishing Tackle section. Some of the guys in there are extremely educated on lures and their knowledge has helped me improve as an angler. Second on the list is Fishing Reports. I love hearing and giving advice to people about bad days on the water, seasonal tips & seeing latest catches etc.

Y'all Ever Jerks?
I remember a few weeks ago I was at my lake prepping my bass raider for an outing. It was tied to my dock and I was in it prepping gear etc. All of a sudden this dude was trolling along the bank in his fancy bass tracker shouted to me "hey kid, if you wanna catch em throw this, chartreuse spinnerbait" the conditions were absolutely horrible to throw a spinnerbait and I politely said back "I've been having luck on these jigs I think i'll stick to that" and he replied back "you're missing out man!" And continued to troll down the bank. Jokes on him I then proceeded to catch a bunch of 3 and 4lbers that day on the jigs.

Struck gold this weekend on the boat. Got 15lbs in the span of 24 hours. A 4lber three 3lbers a handful of 2s and 1s and a bonus smallmouth, the smallmouth was especially exciting only because they've just been introduced to our lake recently and there's not a whole lot of them.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Is it a 35lb or 55lb motor? My prewired fuse broke when I put my 55 endura max on the front. I guess it couldn't handle the high watts, if it's a 55ph you're probably better off putting in the back of the boat.

you ever get a free lure in your TW order?
Yes, I remember one time I ordered two bags of Berkley powerworms and two bags of chigger craws. They sent me a extra bag of powerworms in electric blue I believe. I looked over the email and the third bag wasn't included in the order.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Had a blast fishing this past memorial day weekend, started on friday fishing the local small river for smallmouth and managed to catch at least 10 small guys this size before it started to downpour, it was my first smallmouth in over 3 years so I was pretty Pumped, then caught 24 bass between sunday and monday, 19 of them were the size of the 3rd picture, but I did manage to catch a couple 2+lbers on texas rigged craws and buzzbaits!

Do you find Z-Man’s TRD slips off or bunches up on the hook?
I had this problem with Zmans Finesse shroom heads and the normal size TRD. I just glued it to the head and the problem went away, it was very annoying always putting it back on the jighead after a fish or two. ?

you fishing this holiday weekend?
Absolutely, my boat is already docked at the family house on our private lake for the weekend and I plan on doing multiple morning and evening outings (to avoid recreational boat traffic mid day) BBQ planned for Monday so I probably will be off the bigger water. Maybe I'll hit up a pond or two if it's not busy during the day time.

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
I did last year in March, it was our first warm day in 2021 and there was still some ice and snow on the bank I was fishing at a local pond, all of a sudden a black pick up truck with the word POLICE on the side doors pulled up behind me in the parking lot to the pond, officer was a nice guy and I always had my license renewed every year so he just gave me a warning I guess. I wouldn't even call it a warning just a "make sure you try to renew it ASAP" we also talked about trout stocking in the nearby river and he then left. My only problem with this encounter was a few months later we had problems with foreign speaking folks taking buckets of bluegill and undersized bass and there wasn't no game warden to be found...

Thoughts on Line Conditioners?
I use KVD L&L and it helps. Probably the best spray you can use for line.

Confused fishing etiquette
Similar thing happened to me but at the bank on a public pond. I was fishing a tiny section of bank next to a fishing dock, I had to retie something and this dude came up to me and we talked about the fishing for a minute but he immediately started making casts in the spot I was in...I didn't even move out of it I was like 2ft away from the guy, probably one of the most disrespectful things you can do to another angler is take over his spot while he's still there. I didn't say anything because I'm not the confrontational type but I was also in a good mood and just started fishing. If this was a few hours in and the fishing was slow I would've probably said something.

Best o ring size for wacky rigging a 5inch senko?
This may be a stupid question but I don't fish the wacky rig as much as I want but when I do I've been using the field and stream wacky tool with the o rings it comes with, only problem is these things are ridiculously tight to make the X on the worn and when I do after a few casts the senko begins to rip like pic below. Anyone know any good size o rings I can get that won't have this problem? I can't seem to find anything anywhere at my local stores besides the field and stream models.

What's your favorite water temp to fish ?
Here in NJ we get 4 to 5 months of good warm temps so I'm gonna say 65 degrees+

Chatterbait trailer length (zako)
When you guys pair chatterbait trailers do you trim the head of the soft plastic down a tad bit to give it a more smaller profile or do you leave it at normal length like pic related. This is specifically for the zako/razor shad guys since it's a big profile out the bag.
-
Chatterbaits size?
3/8oz, don't need any bigger size. Use it in deep water all the way to 1ft.
-
A case for Humongous Chatter Bait trailers.
I personally use zakos and get this... Yum swim'in dingers rigged upside down. I've had plenty of luck of them, maybe more than the zako. Pretty weird but they work.

Which crankbaits to get started with?
For a squarebill I'd go with the Strike King kvd 1.5 & lipless crankbaits either the Strike King red eye shad or a Ray Lewis Rat L Trap

Cold fronts during spawn
How do cold fronts affect the spawn for pond/small lake bass? We recently had two 50 degree days with heavy rain here in New Jersey which resulted in water temps being dropped a bit, I went today to one of my spots and noticed all the cruising females were now gone and a few beds were abandoned with only a handful of small fish locked on some in the shallower section of the lake. Where do these females/males that left their beds retreat to and how do you catch them?

Do people really YANK the hook so hard that it is ripping a gash and pulling out ?
I've lost too many fish setting the hook like a wimp, I lost a 4 to 5lber last summer on a black powerworm because I didn't add enough power when setting that ****... I still think about that fish every now and then. Yeah with the ned rig it's all about reeling when you feel the bite/pressure, I had a few zman heads get slightly bent because I did a slight hookset when I felt a bite because I'm usually switching from a bottom bait like a texas rig or jig when I use the ned rig, It takes practice. Drag is also very important I agree!
