  1. I love trailer hooks for spinnerbaits, it's quite the opposite for me it's usually short strikes and that the trailer hook gets the fish instead of the main hook. Also speaking of trailer hooks from yesterdays outing this guy wouldn't have been caught without one..........
  2. The rain was nonstop in my neck of the woods but I went yesterday to a local pond and the water was up maybe a ft but the water was still pretty clear and I caught a few on a spinnerbait in the wind and a 3lb jig fish. Water temps definitely went down because all the beds I saw that had fish on them a week or two ago when we had air temps in the 80s were now empty.
  3. If you're going to install the trolling motor up front and connect it to the boat via the port in the front make sure you put your battery in a minn kota battery box. I didn't and my fuse blew inside the boat because it couldn't handle the 55lb thrust so now my motor is in the back, i personally like it better that way. I also have an endura max 55lb with 36inch shaft and love it.
  4. Learn more on techniques I have yet to be confident in. Upgrade my 10ft bass raider with new parts (mounts electronics carpet flooring etc) catch plenty of more fish and definitely catch plenty of bigger fish, With the way spring has been so far. 2023 will be a massive upgrade over my 2022 season. When 2022 came to an end I immediately told myself I'm going to come out swinging next year, I didn't do a lot of things right last year and I could've been a better fisherman at times. My biggest failure of the 2022 season is I had an empty bag at my biggest tournament of the year in June. That bothered me for the rest of the season. I'm not gonna get into it specifically but the lake it was on historically has been good to me, I've won the tournament there 7 times and every year I always had a bag filled with something, not having anything at all kinda spooked me lol. I also did the biggest restocking of a fishing season ever for me this past winter, probably 400 worth of reloading equipment.
  5. Haven't posted in this thread since the 23 season began, so here's some highlights from a 20+ fish day I had last Thursday. First fish was 4.12lbs. All up shallow spawning and cruising. Rest were 2 and 3lbs
  6. I try to bring at least 3 with me. Two baitcasters and one spinning. I don't mind carrying them around.
  7. I didn't say I was against it or not just wondering, all the clips I saw of him he was drop shotting a lot with it.
  8. Congratulations to Gussy but I wonder how he would've finished without the livescope.
  9. I wouldn't call it cheating, but it's more fun to fool a fish into biting artificial lures. I can't remember the last time I used a nightcrawler or shiner which is sad because those fat walmart brand nightcrawlers were basically my fishing childhood.
  10. You can never go wrong in colder water with a 2inch keitech on a 1/4 to 1/8oz ballhead jig that's usually my alternative.
  11. Berkley stunna warpig, that new zoom topwater swimbait toad and the megabass sleeper gill and sv3 spinnerbait. I already caught a 3lber the other day on the sv3..
  12. 1. Berkley powerbait pitboss 2. Zoom baby brush hog 3. Reaction innovations sweet beaver 4. Strike king rage menace 5. Strike king rage bug
  13. I don't throw rage swimmers so whatever is the equivalent to a 3.8 keitech.
  14. Considering I have a bunch of stuff I have no business throwing probably a year? I quickly run out of soft plastics like senkos and some Berkley stuff so probably a year if I only used the stuff I didn't use regularly.
  15. I always hated winter since I live in NJ but I what I hate even more is the time right now in my neck of the woods.. (late winter) with the mildness we had everyone jumped the gun for spring a few weeks back when we had a few 60+ days (myself included) and now we're all stuck in this purgatory of 45 to 49 degree weather with no end in sight for now. I got all my gear ready for spring now i'm stuck with constant 40 degree weather and water temps plus possible late snow storms.... This is my forecast for the next two weeks.... d**n you winter!
  16. How do they work for you? I have two medium lights in my arsenal and I noticed the 13fishing rod I mentioned has a more stiffness than the other, my other rod is a daiwa and it's the same length and everything but feels more like a noodle.
  17. At the moment I throw my normal 110 sized jerkbaits on a Dobyns fury medium heavy moderate crankbait rod and have success with it, but I have a bunch of Rapala HJ 10s and smaller sized yozuri jerkbaits I plan to throw but I feel like they're to small to throw on the dobyns casting setup. Would I be able to throw these on my medium light fast action rod? It's a 13 fishing Fate Black 7'0 ML Fast action series. I would use a "medium" spinning rod like most jerkbait anglers recommend but at the moment I don't have any in my inventory.
  18. Yes, and it's always in the colder weather for me, I tried my pond today and didn't catch anything for 3 hours, but then again it's the middle of February here in NJ the water temps I took read 43 degrees in the most shallow part of the lake. So imagine how cold it is out in deeper water? Those fish are glued to the bottom lol.
  19. Texas rigged with a 3/16oz tungsten weight, absolute summertime killer up here. I will switch up the weight size occasionally between 1/4oz and 3/16oz. 12lb Flourocarbon.
  20. I throw 3.8 keitechs on the owner flashy swimmer 3/16oz size I believe. Anything smaller is usually on a 1/8oz ballhead jig.
  21. Crazy to see how many have called this place home over that long of a timespan and have come and gone. What's even more crazy is how long this forum has been up and running. It started before I was even born lol. (Late 90s kid here). Love this place. So much knowledge!
  22. Recieved mine the other day, always a great read on what's available and new.
  23. I use the xzone lures muscle back craw in the 3.25 size, great colors and the claws float "upwards" like a natural crawfish defense position.
