Best soft plastic worm and way to rig it to learn to fish them?
On that I would fish a Ned rig. It just plain catches tons of fish and is really enjoyable. I have caught large mouth, crappie, bluegill, warmouth, and a gar on the same day using a 1/15oz Berkley half head jig with a Z-man TIcklerz. That rod would be perfect for a rod with that power. You could also try a Zoom Ultravibe speed worm Texas rigged with a 1/8-3/16oz bullet weight and a 3/0-4/0 hook. You can swim, flip, pitch and hop that worm so it is super versatile.

Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Worm
Great ideas on how to fish this some I hadn’t thought of. I have found the owner twistlock light wire hooks work great on these. It is probably the most versatile bait I use generally swimming it or hoping it, but I’m definitely going to try to buzz it on the top water next.

SLX or Exage for budget rod?
+1 Braid has made my ugly stick feel insanely sensitive. I just got my first baitcaster and using mono to learn shows me just how much a difference Braid makes

Rod Selection: The Basics
I really like to fish Ned rigs so like you a Med Light rod would probably be a great choice but a Med Fast spinning rod would probably cover more overall light weight techniques. So far I have a light and Med action spinning rod and just got a Med Heavy baitcaster (starting to understand why people enjoy them so much). The funny part is that the Med and Med heavy rods are twice the price of my light ugly stick but I just really enjoy throwing Ned rigs on it.

seeking input on dropshot rod choice!!
Tom, what Dobyns model Sierra or Fury would you recommend for finesse lures or would you recommend a different rod company? I mainly fish Ned rigs (1/16oz) and was looking to upgrade from a 6’ Light power ugly stick. I really like the shorter length of 6’-6’6”. I also have a Daiwa Tatula bass rod MEd power(older model with the black Eva foam) But think it might be too stiff for Ned rigs. Thanks for any advice I really appreciate it

Spinning or casting for bass jig or Texas rigged.
That makes a lot more sense thanks for the explanation. I really appreciate it

Spinning or casting for bass jig or Texas rigged.
I don’t get all the people saying spinning gear isn’t as accurate. Is this coming from people who mainly only use baitcasting gear? I’m new to fishing but have gotten pretty accurate in spinning gear and I’m sure most of the professionals on tour are just as accurate with spinning as they are on baitcasters. Another misconception I see a lot is the gear ratio on baicasting reels is higher and can move line quicker but if you look at line taken up per revolution on some 6:2 2500 spinning take 34.5 where a 8:1 baitcaster is 32.8. I just got a baitcaster and like it but still don’t see what all the fuss is about. Casting I find to be similar distance and I’m definitely much better at pitching with my spinning rod so far although it’s seems a lot quicker with the baitcaster I just have a lot of trouble with distance. So far I enjoy spinning a lot more but am going to give baitcasting a couple more months

2018 Tatula Bass Rod Action comparison
Hi all I’m new to fishing and bought a 7ft Daiwa Tatula Bass spinning rod (black Eva foam grip not the new cork ones) in a Med Power Fast action (1/8oz-3/4oz lure rating). Does this rod run pretty true to a Med power and would it be able to fish Ned rigs (1/15 oz heads) on with 15lb braid to 8lb leader? Thanks for the info!

Reaction Tackle Tungsten worm weights
Hi all was about to buy my first set of tungsten bullet weights and saw the reaction tackle weights on amazon and they seemed like a good deal. Does anyone have any experience with these or can offer any suggestions on good bullet weights? mainly fishing retention ponds in Florida. Would tungsten be the right choice or should I stick with lead? Thanks, Steve Reaction Tackle Bullet Weights 3/16 Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF9M4FO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mkDgEbXV6S10H

What size weights for Texas rigging
Thanks Tom I really appreciate the advice At what length or size worm/bait would you move from a 3/0 to a 4/0 hook?

What size weights for Texas rigging
Hi Tom, was curious on your opinion for Florida ponds <10ft deep what bullet weight (or range of weight) would you use (mainly worms and creature baits 7in or less)? Also was curious what the glass bead does to the presentation and why you use it? Thanks for the info you are the best!

Daiwa Tatula vs Dobyns Sierra
Is there a big difference between the Fury and the Sierra 703C or are the actions the same? I feel like I enjoy a slightly light action. I have the most fun fishing Ned rigs on a light action ugly stick.

Best Dobyns?
Am trying to decide between a 733c and 734c in the Sierra line. How heavy were the light Texas rigs would you recommend on the 733C (max bullet weight size). Most of my hard baits are 3/8 ounce or under and on my Texas rigs I mainly throw 1/8th ounce or a 1/4 ounce. Thanks for the help. It’s my first bait casting set up and I usually only bank fish so I’m trying to figure out what the best all purpose rod would be since I have only been using a light power spinning and medium power spinning so far

Daiwa Tatula vs Dobyns Sierra
Sounds like the 704 from what your saying would be a better all purpose rod compared to the 3 power
