  1. Thanks jigman. I installed a mounting board and patched the existing holes. I wasn't big on putting new holes in the boat.
  2. Hello, I recently purchased a Hummingbird Helix 7 MSI and was trying to figure out the best place to set up the transducer on the transom. I attached two pictures and if you notice there is a strake (ridge) in the area. I didn't want to have it create issues with the transducer. How far to the left should I go to install? All suggestions appreciated.
  3. Hello, I am looking to upgrade the stock fish finder that came with the boat and I was wondering what people on here were installing. I was looking at the Lowrance Reveal 7 and didnt know if that fits on the dash or has to be mounted a different way. Also, at the time I can only afford one fish finder and I know it would be better to have up front with me, but as of now, I need one on the dash for maps and such. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Very nice beast! Where did you launch from?
  5. The wife and I hit the delta last Friday and it was a beautiful day out there, a little windy but not bad. We launched from Brannan Island and about 1 hour in I got a 2 3/4 pounder. The wife has yet to catch a LMB and she started off frogging, then a chatter bait and then a jig. I can see the frustration on her face and I suggested she switch to a ned rig with TRZ finesse bait on it. The hits started coming. Lots of dinks but a total of 5 in the boat for her but a pretty big one she lost due to her having the drag all whacky! They were small but she had fun!
  6. I just now saw this reply. Thank you for the tip!
  7. Hi, Do you have any tips for fishing the tides like in the California Delta. What do you do different with out going vs. in coming tides. In your opinion what part of the tide do you feel is the sweet spot? Thanks!! DG
  8. The wife and I went out for an early Valentine's Day fishing excursion. We got there about an hour and a 1/2 before high tide and cut out about 2 hours after. No luck at all. It has been awhile since I have been skunked. Launched from Orwood and water temp was 51 degrees. Hopefully next week will be better.
  9. I am trying to get out to this Friday and Saturday and was thinking about Lake Camanche. I usually hit the Delta since its so close, but not this time. Does anyone know how Lake Camanche is for Bass and also some recommendations on what area to look at? Thanks in advance! DeeGee
  10. Go out there in advance, scout the lake. Do some recon work and look at the lake on Google Earth.
  11. Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify this question. I am not leaving it docked for a long time, we are going on vacation for 4 day and I was thinking of keeping the boat docked instead of launching every morning. Right now it has 40 percent chance of showers so I didnt know if I should cover it or leave it uncovered why sitting at the docks for a couple of days.
  12. Hello, I will be taking the boat to Clearlake over the Thanksgiving holiday and possibly guest docking at the park to save me the trouble of launching everyday. My question is, the weather this far out looks like 40 percent chance of showers each day. When docking overnight, do I cover the boat or leave it uncovered? Thanks in advance for the help! David G
  13. The funny thing is I am not a superstitious person but we bought a new boat and they called and said I could either pick it up Friday or Saturday so I was stoked then my wife said we cant get it Friday, its the 13th! I was like and???? but a few other people said they agreed! So I got it the 14th instead!
  14. Dance with who brought you but remember you are not married to any particular type. Always bring a 3rd or 4th option just to throw a few times and see how you like it or to practice.
  15. I am a newbie when it comes to bass fishing. After watching youtube videos I often hear the term fall transition. Can someone please explain to me what that is and what determines that. I know its not a set date, so is it water temps, clairity, combinations of things. I would like to know what to look for. Thanks!
  16. Thank you for all the comments. I will just practice and get used to my TM. It just seems like that pedal is so d**n tall but I will get used to it. Looking at the GPS controlled motors were amazing at how far technology has come. Hopefully some day those prices will go down.
  17. Hello, The wife and I recently bought a tracker classic and its perfect for what we need it for. I have a question since I am a newbie to bass fishing, but not boating. When we find an area we want to fish like on a lake or slough and there is maybe a slight wind or water is moving, what is the best way to stay in the same place. We can not afford power poles right now so I am open to suggestions. I tried hitting the trolling motor every once in a while to keep us in same place but I was wondering if there was a better way. Thanks in advance for the help!
  18. I wanted to respond to my original post. We took the advice and launched from Orwood. That place was nice. We made a right and headed to Disco Bay but didnt have much luck so came out and hit I believe was Indian Slough. I caught 4 right away using a spinner bait, nothing bigger then 1 lb but was still fun. We explored a little bit and cant wait to go out again. Thanks for all the tips and advice.
  19. I haven't fished there in years but I saw this online. Might help.
  20. Thank you so much for the tips, they are very helpful. Since this is my first time out I think I am going to launch from Orwood and bounce up and down Old River and maybe dabble a little in Disco Bay. Just learn the area and the boat and hopefully catch a few as a bonus. With that said as any other tips for that area would be appreciated.
  21. Thanks for the tips. I am taking the advice of launching at Orwood and fishing Franks Tract. I had a 17 foot Valco for years but its been awhile since I have launched a boat. Dang looks like 30 years, where has time gone! I know there will be a relearning curve but I hope I catch on quick. The plan is to go slow and steady and hopefully catch a fish or two while at it.
  22. Hello, After many years of fishing the banks the wife and I finally got us a small bass boat. We are looking to take our maiden voyage launching out of Antioch and was wondering if anyone will be kind enough to give us some ideas of where to fish for LMB. Since this is our first time any suggestions will be appreciated. Much Thanks! DeeGee
