Guest Docking Question

Featured Replies

Hello,

I will be taking the boat to Clearlake over the Thanksgiving holiday and possibly guest docking at the park to save me the trouble of launching everyday.  My question is, the weather this far out looks like 40 percent chance of showers each day.  When docking overnight, do I cover the boat or leave it uncovered?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Do you normally cover your boat when it rains?

If your boat has locked storage compartments that deters honest people not thieves.

A cover keeps out night critters and birds, helps to deter theft but don't count on that and should help keeping rain water out depending if it's a storm or normal light rain.

Does the guest dock have a locked gate and lights?

Ive seen raccoons completely destroy boats that had tight covers on all winter. Canvas is a minor inconvenience for night critter.

Thanks for the replies.  Just to clarify this question.  I am not leaving it docked for a long time, we are going on vacation for 4 day and I was thinking of keeping the boat docked instead of launching every morning.  Right now it has 40 percent chance of showers so I didnt know if I should cover it or leave it uncovered why sitting at the docks for a couple of days.
