  1. Me and my wife got the spark to try our hand at magnet fishing. So we bought an 800lb neodymium magnet off Amazon and have tried it once. I had to wade into the lake to get it unstuck once haha. But she caught some hooks and bottle caps so far. Has anyone tried it, if so post up your best catches!!
  2. Especially if they come in a two pack it would be awesome because I dont care for the colors of the dark sleeper. I have one, it catches fish, but they dont look like any baitfish ive ever seen, color wise.
  3. Finally got around to exchanging the reel yesterday. New one works like a charm. I got an extra discount because I am a bet, so i got some 3" Gulp Minnows and some BBQ peanuts for free out of the exchange! Haha.
  4. I would be throwing a frog over every Lilly pad if I were to fish there. Also throw a big bait, maybe a bigger bluegill swimbait, ought to keep the gills off of it.
  5. No, I never thought of that. With the Star turned all the way tight I figured it would be just like my other LFS and barely move with alot of force but it pulls line out like its barely tightened at all.
  6. See I was wondering if it was over lubricated or something is sticking. I will try this tonight and if it doesn't help I'll return it for a new one. My luck they won't have the gear ratio I want and I'll have to wait for them to order a new one in.
  7. Ive only had it a week. Just the drag isnt right. I dobt know that I'll get it exchanged today or tomorrow and Friday me and the wife are staying at a cabin on Grand Lake in OK and really wanted to use it, but if it's not right I definitely want it replaced. I just didnt know if this was common and super easy to fix.
  8. I bought another Lews Speed Spool LFS last week from Academy. I spooled it up with 15lb yo-zuri hybrid, check the drag and tighten it down and it is so loose. It took minimal effort to pull it out when all the way tight. Went fishing, caught one, checked again and the drag will not get any tighter than it is and I'm suprised the 1lb bass I caught didnt pull a ton of line out. Is this common, should I return it, is it a super easy fix? Ive never had this happen before and I don't know the inner workings of baitcasters so I need advice.
  9. Wow that's seriously impressive!
  10. 15lb Yo-Zuri hybrid. Thought about 12lb but that little bit of added insurance makes me feel better. Casted a 3/8oz chatterbait a country mile!
  11. Catch a fish, surefire way to get out of a slump
  12. Haha when I read a brand some people dont like I looked at the pic and it was only scrolled to the bottom of the Powerbait. I thought who doesnt like Zoom then scrolled down more and saw the Googan stuff. Yeah that was it.
  13. What a wealth of knowledge
  14. Finally got out to test it and the tip definitely loads up more and sails a 3/8 jackhammer a good ways. But got a bite and I see why a slower action is beneficial because the bass jumped clear out of the water and I kept it pinned and it definitely had more of a parabolic bend that kept the fish pinned. I'm glad I got it and look forward to using it more.
  15. Went out around 7 and didnt wear the buff but wore the gloves. The one on my left that held the reel I had to really clamp down on the reel because it wasnt very grippy so I took it off and wore the right glove and forgot I had it on. Lightweight and good grip on the reel handle. So I need to do something with the left glove or get different ones.
  16. Well I'll be darned if you all weren't right. Had a aqua frog Poppin Pad Crasher tied on and found a shade line with weeds and caught two on the frog in bluebird conditions. Granted it was really close to sunset it was still a shaded area and the frog over weeds worked. Thanks everyone. Oh and they bit a Firecraw Jackhammer too.
  17. What brand is OR? Ive never heard of cooling dots either. I know if there is a breeze and you wet the cloth it cools, or just still a gel ice pack under your buff haha. I didn't end up going out tonight. I decided on a night with the family watching a movie in the home theater and I'll go saturday and have more time and not have just gotten off work. Still gonna be sunny and hot!
  18. Ive caught frogs on hot blue bird days so I figured in shade pockets they would work. Also the one i have tied on more resembles a bait fish in color than a frog.
  19. Haha I got a chuckle out of this, but its also good info. So I had misconceptions about clear skies fishing. Ive actually learned more this post than ive read in a long time. Why not frogs? I was planning on bringing the frog rod which has a Popping Pad Crasher in Aquafrog tied on to sling into shaded areas. Originally I was just going to bring two rods and throw a chatterbait and a wacky rig, but then thought about shade pockets and the frog then thought well I will want to try the middle of the pond in the deepest spots so added the T Rig so I could better distance than weightless wacky, and wacky in the shallows and grass lines. But heck after reading I might end up throwing a spinnerbait!!
  20. I know spinnerbaits and top waters are not a go to when its hot, pretty still, and nothing but clear blue sky out. But what else does everyone avoid using when it's like this outside? Its pushing 100° here today but is really the first wave of heat this year for me.
  21. Im going out today after work and I think I'm going full coverage. Was going to wear a t shirt and ball cap but I'm going to wear a long sleeve sun shirt, boonie hat, new gloves and buff and see how i feel.
  22. I'm new to these this year but learned alot. Hard bottom really is key, grass will collect on the head pretty easy. I used a Rage Bug and caught my first fish of the year with it.
  23. Wacky rig. This is the first year ive have committed to using it more and caught my first fish on it and didnt stop there. All were caught on a Gambler Ace in GP. But I just got two packs of Max Scent Generals in two different colors to try out.
  24. I get my buff and gloves in today and plan on testing them out tonight. Supposed to be sunny and hot so its a good test! I also get to test out my new chatterbait rod and reel and throwing a Fire Craw for the first time. We will see if it lives up to the hype. Also trying out a Max Scent lure for the first time, again will see if it lives up to the hype and I sure hope so!
  25. Now that's a car!!! Or better yet a tank on wheels!
