  1. Hmm video just sits there on opening and won’t play.
  2. Welcome! I’m new also and finding this is a great place to hang out
  3. I would have to disagree. I broke a park on a Curado 201 from the early 90’s. I called Shimano and they sent me the parts. And get this - for free!
  4. Weird I saw them at Bass Pro for $5ish and Walmart 2.49 online is different per color https://www.walmart.com/ip/Zoom-Super-Fluke-5/41764671?selected=true
  5. I just want to catch 1 more bass but something doesn’t look right here but it’s suppose to be 46 this Sunday
  6. We’re suppose to do maintenance on these lol. I’ve got 4 Shimano Curado 201’s from the 90’s that still spin so smooth
  7. Hey fellow NYer. I’m in Western NY and same weather. I was just out fishing last week in my kayak but I think I’m done till spring. This will be my 1st winter so I have no idea what to do. What really sucks is it’s my slow season so I’m just sitting around the house surfing the internet so I’ll probably just spend money on more stuff.
  8. What!?! What happened to a Forest Wood?
  9. I bought a Jackson Liska in May and moved up to a big rig in Sept. I wanted stability while standing and got it with the big rig but it’s also a big pig when paddling into the wind. I’ve taken waves over the front and never felt unsafe. edit- I forgot to mention I bought both used $700 for the Liska and $1000 for the Big Rig. Liska came with paddle, PFD, Lowrance Hook 5. I sold the Liska for $700 and kept all the accs for the BR
  10. Ck with fishingonline.com they have Bonafides
  11. Thanks! and there’s other term I don’t know! bait monkey?
  12. Free always cost way more in the long run
  13. Jackson Big Rig. I got a great deal on a used one that I couldn’t pass on. I really want(ed) a Bonafide but no dealers close to me to try one out first.
  14. I always fished since I was little. When I was 25 I got into bass tournaments. Had the Ranger bass boat. Did pretty good! Living the dream Right!?! At 39 my ex told me I ruined our marriage and caused our divorce. So I quit fishing for 20 years. This year after a horrific family tragedy I decided to get back into fishing. I find a lot of peace of mind out on the water when fishing. It’s a therapy I like! Now that I’m back into this I’m finding all these different lures I never heard of (chatterbaits for one), techniques that I have no clue about, great tackle companies that are gone and lots of company names I’ve never heard of *** also. I feel like I’m starting over again so you will probably see lots of questions from me. I don’t want a power boat ever again so I went the kayak path. I’m finding I like the paddling and it’s good exercise which I really need. 2020 I’m going to try out a few NYKBF tournaments. Should be fun!
  15. I went out in the kayak today. 44 degrees with 10mph winds. It was nice but probably my last time out? for this year. but I did catch one at least
  16. I lucked into a pair of barely used Jackson Liska's with paddles life jackets and fish finder for $1500 for the wife an I. I had no knowledge of kayaks before this. I need to stand when fishing and the Liska wasn’t quite stable enough for me. So I started looking for something better. Found a used Jackson Big Rig for $1000 and best better the seller wanted my Liska for $700. So I lost nothing and for $300 more I got a Big Rig. So do your research and try different rigs out to get the one you really like the first time. There are lots of FB groups for fishing kayaks and I find them very willing to help. Now trailers Used jet ski is the cheapest and to me easiest to work with. I got a midsize 65” across one $500. It needed nothing but because I needed to carry two kayaks I just bought a set of bunk brackets $50 and made carpeted bunks for $20.
  17. I love Big Game. Walmart has it $7 for 600yds. I use 12lb green for rattletraps and topwater, 15lb clear for spinnerbaits and 1/4-3/8oz jigs, 20lb clear for 1/2-3/4oz jigs. Best part about Big Game is it’s so cheap I respool once a week when I fished tournaments
  18. 1983-1998 all I did was fish and then prepped rigs and boat during the winter. I guess it was to much because I caused a divorce. Well that’s what she said. After taking 20 years off I just started fishing again this past spring. I can’t afford another Ranger so I got a real nice kayak. I’ve got a lot to learn again but I’m enjoying it all over again even if I’m spending all my free time thinking about it! Lots of money to!
