Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I hope you have better luck than me. I found an incredible deal two weeks ago on a 13 Fishing rod. It was a 7'6 MH that they clearly had priced incorrectly and I got it for $69.00 . Three broken rods later I finally gave up. The rod jumped back to $217 but I don't have the stamina to fight with the off-shore help. Literally ship it in a box , no packing (just the rod flopping around) and they were all damaged, the one today actually snapped it.

Biggest Bass of 2023 ~ What Bait ?
Lake St Clair, the elusive 7 lb small on a chrome plated blade bait during a March trip if the weather holds here is SE Michigan. My two sons have topped 6.5's the last two seasons early in the year. I'll go 7 lbs 2 oz on March 25, if for no other reason that will be the week of my birthday.

Norman speed clips on 10xd
OK , might be a silly question the Duo Lock to the crank, no split ring , and tying on the other end. . I've used the Duo Locks but just retie after 3-5 fish and connect to the stock ring.

Productive Bait's ~ 2022 Big Fish Edition
A few stood out for us in 2022. Time in and time out the big fish taker for us was the baby Z-too in white or Arkansas shiner. Shallow, deep - Spring , summer , fall - it just produced the biggest fish all year. Simple as it is, it's so effective for SMB. Berkley Dredger - 17.5 and 20.5 - Chameleon Pearl - Turned onto it in May and never looked back- Quite the assortment in clear water colors. Anglers Choice - Ridgeback Goby , fished it ned-style. I really want chatter baits to work for SMB on St Clair. Just not a lot of confidence in them right now. Will work on this in 2023. Stepping up the deeper crank game as well. Trying some Evergreen and Megabass deep for the summer pattern. Same for for Spybaiting Jerkbait bait was off too. Unusually windy this year.

Tatula 7'6 MH Meyer - Deeper cranks / Options
Anyone have any advice or experience using this rod for deeper cranks, generally 15-20 FOW. Fish St. Clair and Erie 90% of the time. I currently have a Dobyns Champ (764CB) and spec wise the 7'6 Daiwa seems to be similar. It would be paired with a Tatula 150. That reel has been bullet proof and one of the reasons I'm looking at the Elite rod. I've looked at composites and really don't like the feel and although I really like the Dobyns I'm looking for a change for no other reason than to try something different. I'm open to other options or ideas around the $200 price point. Thanks

Berkley Flatworms
We've been hoarding the new colors all winter long up in Michigan. We've walked into the BPS and just plucked them off the shelf. We ordered some of the newer tube and had them delivered to the store. As the weather starts to turn and we get into March they will be like seeing unicorns.

Good jerkbaits for 5’-7’ deep water
I just got into jerkbait fishing this year as well. All are medium depth 6-9 but i'm having a hard time getting them down to that depth after a few cranks. They are suspending baits but I need to just stick with it and figure out what I'm doing wrong I ended up going with a Loca Special from 13 Fishing (really performs the best of what I have) 2 IMA Flit 120's (colors are awesome and great action) and a Duel Hardcore that has really not got a long look or much time.

The latest sale thread
Its clear they are absolutely practicing under promising and underdelivering. I placed and order on St. Pattys and their email indicated it would ship today. Still time before the clock strikes midnight but it still hasn't shipped. I was planning on two weeks and really in no hurry. It would appear they are now saying it will be two weeks to get it out the door. In my case (Michigan) I add another week for transit. Three weeks make you REALLY plan ahead. I bet their average per order is waaaay up and they are likely making a killing on the update expedited fees. Pay to play I guess......

Stretching/roughing up soft plastics
With the TRDs I usually throw them in water. If they float I leave them alone, if they sink and just flat lay on the bottom I pull em out and roll and stretch them to get them to float.

Aftco Hydronaut or Simms ProDry
The AFTCO Hydronaut suit is worth every penny. We had scored the Simms Transom but the fit wasn't quite right. Ordered the AFTCO and then proceeded to order two more sets. It a solid suit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
