Jig Rod? Expride A, Dobyns Champion?
In my few weeks of browsing this forum, I’ve noticed the one person consistently leaving a sour taste in my mouth is Tom. Seems to be his way or the highway. He’s thrown out some good advice on other threads so I won’t knock his knowledge or experience, but the best course of action may just be to disengage.

Casting Rod w/out a Trigger
Recently threw a bait caster on a spare spinning rod for the heck of it and realized it seemed comfortable. I didn’t fish with this or anything, but it got me wondering if anyone either removes the triggers from their rods or builds their rods without them. I think the added comfort when palming the reel is worth it, although I can’t say how casting would feel without the trigger. If anyone has tried this or has any thoughts on it I’d love to hear about it. Thanks. —Ski

Does anyone use spoons?
This may sound stupid so excuse me for asking, but does anyone here throw spoons still? I have two that I picked up from my grandpa, but I haven't thrown them once in the 10+ years that I have had them. For those who do throw spoons or have experience with them, what kind of knots/rigging are you using when doing so? I'm not desperate to use them but wouldn't mind having a better of idea how to, especially with my grandpa no longer being around to teach me.

Red-eyed large
Accidentally posted this before adding a comment, and I don't know why the picture is rotated. All the same caught today what by all indications looks to me to be a largemouth with red eyes and was wondering if anyone know's what might have caused this.

Little Green Lake, WI
I realize this is an old thread, but I've spent weeks at a time on Little Green Lake fishing. Admittedly I mostly fished for panfish and walleyes so I'm probably not the guy to ask regarding bass, but Todd (I believe is his name) at Landing On Little Green Lake may be able to provide some good insight for you. He also has a little bait shop in there for any essentials you might need. The submerged island mentioned above is always a good spot for panfish, but the north and north east ends of the lake always seemed to provide. Again this is just regarding panfish, but for us we always used slip bobbers with wax worms or minnows and never had trouble finding fish.

Hi there
I've asked a few questions here so far and gotten some great answers so I figure I might as well introduce myself. I've been into fishing for going on 9 years now but have focused more on bass fishing the last four, and especially so the last two. I live in south eastern Wisconsin and fish mostly the banks of the ponds in my neighborhood due to my lack of a boat. I go to school in New York and unfortunately lose a lot of my summer fishing time to training so I don't always get out as much as I would like. These past school years I've been flying out so I miss the fall bite there too due to the difficulty of flying with my fishing gear. Fortunately, this coming school year I will be allowed to bring my truck on post and will be bringing my fishing gear with me. So if anyone has any good fishing spots in the West Point area that are bank fisherman friendly, I would greatly appreciate your insight.

San Diego Jam Knott vs. FG Knot ?
I'll one up on the FG bandwagon. It works great in my micro guides and has yet to fail me. The night before I head out I make sure my leader is long enough and if not, I retie about 6 feet or so of leader. Leaves enough for retying lures and its so small I don't run into issues casting when it goes through the guides.

Unhappy with Rod Collection
I have a pretty small collection of rods as well, but the first one I purchased for bass was the St. Croix Mojo Bass Jerkbait. It's 6'8 medium power fast action. While I am expanding my collection now, when it was my only rod, I found it worked as a good middle ground for spinners, topwaters, and of course jerkbaits.

Preferred knots
Palomar knot for most terminal connections, but the King Sling for jerks and cranks. Super easy and arguably better than any other loop knot. For leaders I use the FG knot. Other leader knots may be easier and faster but I like how thin and strong the FG is.

Most Expensive Set Up
On the college budget so my most expensive won't match many here but I have a Shimano Curado K on a St. Croix Mojo Bass, so $310 before tax.

Hi Vis Braid for Finesse
Recently made the switch on my finesse rig to hi-vis braid after reading a similar thread on here from 2017. What I did not see on that thread was a recommendation for the pound test people were using when doing this, so I bought some 10# Seaguar. Unfortunately, I quickly found out that it's so thin I still have trouble watching it on the water. I was wondering what line those of you who have gone the hi-vis route use on similar rigs. As far as fish seeing the line goes, I am using 10# fluoro for a leader, so I don't think it should be too much of an issue.

Rapala Knot vs Split Rings
I'm was looking at some Rapala X-Rap's I recently bought and noticed that the split rings are not perfectly tight, such that I can slide the line through with a little effort, so I was thinking of removing them before they cost me a lure or two. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on advantages/disadvantages to each. Thanks.

No idea what to use this rod for
Appreciate the input everyone, I’ll definitely be holding onto it. I had kinda figured it was a musky rod but wasn’t positive since every musky rod I’ve ever used has been closer to 8 ft. Fortunately I have a trio of Mojo Bass rods so it’s not like I’m stuck trying to throw 1/4 oz lures with this thing (I tried and could not load the rod at all).

No idea what to use this rod for
I have a St. Croix Premier casting rod that’s 6’6, MHF, rated for 20-50lb line and 3/4-3oz. I currently have around reel on it spooled with 50lb power pro and a fluorocarbon leader like a musky rig, but it’s so short that casting is a pain. If anyone has any ideas what I can do with this thing I would greatly appreciate it.
