  1. 15 lb Power Pro braid with an 8 lb Sufix mono leader.
  2. I was using a 1/4 swimjig (with a trailer: pumpkin colored Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw) w/Shimano Expride ML rod this morning, and I missed a good number of my hooksets. Still, I landed 'bout three two pounders along the way. Anyway, should I have used a M rod instead? My ML rod has a decent amount of backbone, and its recommended lure weight is 1/8-7/16 oz so my bait is definitely within the range. What say you?
  3. That I did not know. Thanks for that. Holy crap!
  4. I was using a 1/4 swimjig (with a trailer: pumpkin colored Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw) and Shimano Expride ML rod this morning, and I missed a good number of my hooksets. I landed 'bout three two pounders along the way. Anyhoo, should I have used a M rod instead? My ML rod has a decent amount of backbone so naturally I am a bit perplexed. .
  5. Hind sight being 20/20, I should have checked/searched, but at the same time over time people's perception change as well. Of course, I'm just trying to CYA here too. LOL
  6. Title says it all. I know, it's an age old question, but I want to test the water - pun intended - here to see what you experts think. Due to my somewhat poor vision, I'm using Sufix Hi Vis Yellow line these days which is working out great for me since I can actually see the line move. I don't wish to go back to clear line again unless I have to. I also think we're giving the fish too much credit. If the bait looks good, I doubt that fish will get spooked by the color of line. Well, what do you experts think?
  7. If $$ is not a factor - I think they are similar in $$, btw - which one would you get and why? Also, are they relatively easy to clean and do some rudimentary maintenance on like a lube job and etc?
  8. Do you cut it off in anyway? Also how do you use it as a swimjig? Do you use it with a shakeyhead?
  9. An acquaintance of mine uses it weightless, but doing so obviously compromises on the casting distance. Do you use it, and if so how do you use it? What gear (rod, reel, line, and sinker) do you use, and what's the flavor/color of the month?
  10. What is the culprit? Bad gear, latch, cheap plastic parts or bent shaft?
  11. I was thinking of drag washers...Geez. let me look into that and see if that will do the trick. I think Symetre might be 2500 size. I'll let you know. Much obliged!
  12. That I did not do, but the reel still jams w/o the spool so what could be the issue?
  13. Every now and then, the reel will jam and makes it hard to turn. I cleaned the reel pretty well about a two week ago too, and it's still not functioning correctly as it should so I'm perplexed. What am I doing wrong?
  14. Just bought a Boomerang based on your suggestions. Thank you all for your input!
  15. I've always been a Shimano guy - like most of us here, I think - and never even thought about owning Daiwa gear till now. Heard some good things 'bout Certate spinning reel recently... I know, I'm not so up-to-date as I'd like. Well, what's your experience like with a Certate reel, and how does it compare to, say, a Stradic CI4 reel? Appreciate your input in advance!
  16. Straight from the horse's mouth!
  17. On swimjigs or hard crank baits?
  18. Is it just for top water lures or should I use it on finesse swimbait jigs too?
  19. Sounds like a winner! My understanding is Stradic is being supplanted by Vanford?? Very curious about Vanford, and its capability.
  20. Between those two, which would you recommend and why? I heard some reliability issues with Lowrance, but I don't know for sure. Also should I look into the used market or buy new? I typically don't buy used electronic equipment, but if it works/cheaper why not. Thank you in advance.
  21. In what applications do you use your Expride rods, and with what line? I'm using 15 braid with 8 lb mono leader, and not sure if I need to go lighter or not.
  22. I have a BassPro scissors which worked great, but I think it's time to get another as the blades are getting dull. It's very frustrating when you work your rear end off in 100 degree weather to make a perfect knot, and a dull cutter ruins it at the end. I need something sharper like what a rabbi might use to do his job What do you guys use, and recommend?
